The central government has reaffirmed its commitment to the assurances given to protesting students, following the Supreme Court order quashing cases against protesters across states. In response to these developments, the youth organisation announced the withdrawal of its proposed protest march scheduled for 5 September. The authorities held discussions with state administrations to ensure the withdrawal of registered police cases and prevent punitive action against youth who participated in demonstrations at Jantar Mantar. The administration highlighted that the progress, welfare, and overall development of the youth remain the foremost priority.

00:00We will be later in government.
00:46That is, of course, the government's first response coming in after the Supreme Court cancels all FIs against CGP protesters.
00:53Senior BGP leader and senior union minister J.P. Nader, who you would remember was one of the key faces
00:58of the government's mediation with the CGP when the protest was happening last month,
01:03coming out and giving a short video statement saying that they are committed to the assurance given to the CGP
01:09on the basis of which the protest was called off last month at Jantar Mantar
01:14and saying that they will ensure that there is no, that no frivolous cases are filed against people who were
01:20part of the CGP protests.
01:21From the 20th of July to the 26th of July, J.P. Nader has also welcomed the CGP's decision to
01:28call off its planned protest on the 5th of September
01:30saying that they are committed to its assurances given to the youth of the country and they welcome the movement
01:36that there is no more efforts at disruptionist politics by the CGP.
01:40So that was, of course, J.P. Nader speaking to the media, giving a short video statement right after we
01:45got to know from the Supreme Court
01:47that all cases that have been filed against protesters across states have been squashed
01:53and it is the CGP also which has decided to call off its planned protest on the 5th of September.
02:02So that was, of course, J.P. Nader addressing the media and saying that they are committed to not, they
02:08are committed to fulfilling all the assurance.
02:10Remember the key assurance on the basis of which the CGP had called off its protest when it was, its
02:16three-week protest at Jantar Mantar last month,
02:18of course, was the resignation of then Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, but also one of the key conditions was the
02:24cases that were filed against CGP protesters
02:26for the week of protests that happened at Jantar Mantar, not just in Delhi but also across the country from
02:32the 20th of July to the 26th of July.
02:34The CGP insisted that all the punitive action that were filed against the youth of the country for taking part
02:40in CGP protests will be scrapped.
02:43Now, over the last few weeks, we had disgruntled voices coming in from the CGP claiming that the government was
02:49not really acting on those assurances or on those promises
02:52and as a result, they announced their decision to come up with a fresh protest march to Jantar Mantar on
02:58the 5th of September.
02:59Today, fast-paced developments happened which resolved this issue first at 2.30 p.m. this afternoon.
03:05The CGP came up with an announcement saying that it is going to call off the protest because it has
03:10received assurances from the government
03:13and at the same time, the Supreme Court also came out saying that it has given an order to quash
03:20all the cases against the CGP protests.
03:23And now, we heard in from Union Minister J.P. Nanda. Let's listen in once again to that reaction.
04:10It was the case.
04:22Thank you very much.
