00:00I'm Jane Armstrong from Emerald and Central Queensland. I'm incredibly proud to be nominated
00:04for this year's Women in Agriculture Award at the Australian Agriculture Awards.
00:10I'm the Managing Director of Insight Repro, a cattle reproductive business
00:15focused on helping Australian producers improve fertility, genetics and their reproductive
00:20performance. I've grown up and worked in ag for most of my life and have developed a particular
00:27interest in livestock reproduction, especially with male fertility and morphology.
00:33What interests me most is the impact that these things have on the reproductive performance
00:39as a whole herd and its productivity. One of the things I'm most passionate about is making sure
00:45reproductive technologies deliver practical outcomes for producers, particularly when they're
00:49facing some of their toughest times. Today my role combines business management, producer education
00:56and continuing to develop services that make reproductive technologies more accessible
01:01to commercial and seed stock producers in and around our regions.
01:09Most recently I've advocated for the embryo transfers to be recognised under the Commonwealth
01:14Disaster Recovery Assistance. Because of the natural disasters, rebuilding cattle businesses
01:21isn't simply about replacing livestock numbers. For many producers, generations of valuable genetics
01:27are at stake. Seeing Queensland become one of the first states to adopt this Commonwealth policy change
01:33has been something I'm extremely proud of. And I've been really blessed that agriculture has been able
01:39to give me an incredible career and I'm passionate about continuing to challenge how we do things,
01:44advocate producers and to help build more productive and resilient Australian cattle industry.
01:49It's been a real privilege to be recognised alongside other nominees at this year's Australian Agricultural Awards.
