00:00We have been accused of not doing enough,
00:03admitting that the Browns like Deshaun Watson more by,
00:08and we're going to play a Daryl piece of sound here in a minute,
00:10but Lima today, about half their show was them saying,
00:15him specifically saying,
00:17we're not admitting enough that the Browns just like Deshaun more.
00:20Yeah, they played Albert's clip yesterday,
00:22and it's like, oh, interesting.
00:23Then, you know, Albert says these things about the Browns
00:25and Deshaun Watson, and then the very next segment,
00:28the afternoon show comes out,
00:29and they'll just completely refute everything that Albert says
00:31and say they don't believe him,
00:32and it's like, guys, it's not really that way,
00:35at least my interpretation of it isn't that way.
00:37I feel like there's an acknowledgement
00:39that the Browns like Deshaun Watson more.
00:41When Albert comes on or anybody else comes on,
00:44I don't get the impression it's because they're saying
00:46that they think Deshaun Watson is leaps and bounds better
00:48than Jador Sanders, not necessarily.
00:50It's more the idea that he does more things right now week one
00:54that would give him a chance to win operationally.
00:57It's not that they think he's a better quarterback overall,
00:59and maybe that's where we're getting this a little confused.
01:03I don't know.
01:04I just think like him better is very loaded.
01:08I think that's putting your own personal opinion
01:11on the Cleveland Browns.
01:13I don't think the Browns have ever told anyone
01:15they like anyone better than the other.
01:18Being more comfortable with Deshaun,
01:20and the reasons they've given have nothing to do
01:22with the actual talent of the player.
01:24Well, Deshaun's a veteran, right?
01:27So he's got more experience in other offenses.
01:30That's a right-now thing.
01:34He's used to playing on the road in big environments.
01:36That's a right-now thing.
01:38And so I think any time somebody goes,
01:41well, the Browns just like Deshaun more.
01:44No, that's you saying you like Deshaun more,
01:47and you're trying to put that on the Browns,
01:49who might start Deshaun Watson for two games.
01:51Well, he's trying to build up this case that people unequivocally
01:54that go to the camps every day say that Deshaun Watson
01:56has played better than Jador Sanders,
01:57and I don't think that's true either.
01:59Yeah, the only people that have been consistently
02:00Deshaun's the better quarterback have been the Browns.
02:03Have been the Browns, exactly.
02:04And again, there's a perfectly reasonable
02:07and acceptable admission that is coming from me
02:11for weeks now, and I think yourself for a little bit as well,
02:14and the idea that, yeah, the Browns do like Deshaun Watson
02:17and want to see what he can do week one.
02:18No one's refuted that.
02:20No one's ever tried to make that not the claim.
02:22Yeah, the point is we're saying the decision-making
02:24is head-scratching.
02:25It's poor, and it doesn't make sense to us.
02:27That's where we're sitting back and saying,
02:29I don't get how we got here.
02:31Yeah, listen, I have no doubt that the Browns think
02:34Deshaun gives them the best chance to win week one.
02:37I just have a big amount of doubt
02:39on what they're basing that off of.
02:40I think the Browns have made a biased decision.
02:43I think even the way from the coach's show,
02:45I think it was last week,
02:46where Todd Munkin was like,
02:48well, it really wasn't an open competition,
02:50and then Shador improved so much,
02:53we made it an open competition, right?
02:55Right, right, right.
02:55That is an indication that this thing was cooked from Deshaun.
03:01Shador played his way into the conversation,
03:03but never played his way to the starting role.
03:06Again, the Browns set out at some point,
03:09whether it was Munkin, Munkin, and Barry,
03:12Munkin, Barry, and the Haslams,
03:14whatever the conglomeration was,
03:16or sorry, configuration was,
03:18they decided Deshaun was going to play,
03:20and Deshaun was going to start.
03:23And so for anything to go against that,
03:26they had to be indisputable evidence
03:29that that player was better.
03:31We used to think it was a tie-goes-to-the-runner situation.
03:34We've talked about this a couple times.
03:34Right, right, right.
03:35That's clearly not the case here.
03:36Clearly not the case.
03:37And we even said that yesterday.
03:39The tie-to-the-runner thing is not,
03:40obviously, if there was one, it went to Deshaun,
03:43but they didn't feel like there was one.
03:46Deshaun won this quarterback competition.
03:48I don't know if he needs this to say it louder.
03:50I thought the idea that Deshaun was starting week one
03:53was enough of an admission that the Browns liked Deshaun Watson.
03:57Also, I don't know why it's so,
04:00I don't know why it's so hard for,
04:03and I guess I'm just doing the show to Lima right now.
04:06I don't know why it's so hard for him to acknowledge
04:10how ridiculous this whole damn thing is.
04:13He just wants to make it about Deshaun versus Shador.
04:16No, no, no.
04:16This is Deshaun versus Browns fans and the media, really.
04:21This is the idea of playing Deshaun Watson ever again.
04:24And I've used the word normalize,
04:26and I've gotten, you know, gently, you know,
04:30fanny-patted for saying normalize
04:33because it's not a normal idea.
04:36Like, it's normalized.
04:38The Browns have normalized something
04:39that no other team in the NFL, and think about it,
04:41they've got some ballsy, thoughtless,
04:44gall-less teams in the NFL.
04:46They do.
04:47And the Browns have done something that I cannot,
04:50Woody Johnson might be the worst owner in the NFL
04:54as in terms of a human being
04:56and in terms of his actual decisions, right?
05:01Woody Johnson would not be sending Deshaun Watson
05:03out there for year five.
05:05And that's the guy, like, here's the thing.
05:07I have my criticisms of how the Haslams
05:09have done their business here, okay?
05:12I don't think they're awful people.
05:13I don't really know them.
05:15I don't really understand them all the time,
05:17but I don't doubt that they want to win.
05:20I don't doubt that they put a lot of money
05:22into this community, these communities.
05:24They've shown a willingness to want to win.
05:26So, like, I have...
05:26I've always given them credit for that.
05:28They want to win.
05:28I have no respect on any regard of Woody Johnson.
05:31None.
05:32Which is very...
05:33Me saying that never happens.
05:36I have a fair amount of respect for the Haslam family.
05:39The Haslam's problem, honestly,
05:40is the idea that I think they might just care too much.
05:43Yeah, I think it points.
05:44The heart of, I think, any discourse we have
05:47with the Haslams is that I think they might
05:49ultimately be a little too invested,
05:51and it would be much better if they just, you know,
05:54ponied up as much money as they can
05:55and then kind of let the football people
05:56do football things.
05:57But, like, I have a lot of love and respect
05:59for that family.
06:00I make fun of everyone,
06:02so it's not just I make fun of them,
06:03but I do make fun of everyone,
06:05and certainly they've gotten their lion's share.
06:07But, like, I continue to sit here
06:10in awe of anyone that goes,
06:14well, of course they're going to start Deshaun.
06:16They could have...
06:17This whole conversation could have been null and void
06:19in March.
06:21It could have been null and void in April.
06:24And organizationally, they all came together
06:27and said, all right, Deshaun's going to be
06:28the heavy favorite,
06:30and we'll give Shador a chance too.
06:32And so the idea that I just have to accept
06:34that they're right about Deshaun,
06:36when they've been wrong about Deshaun
06:38at every single turn,
06:40and they've done the...
06:41They've glazed him up.
06:42Not they, but their PR machine
06:44has glazed him up.
06:46It's a new Deshaun.
06:47We're going to the playoffs.
06:49And they've been wrong every single time.
06:52So I don't think it's insane
06:54that Browns fans,
06:55and certainly myself and you,
06:56are saying,
06:57I'm sorry,
06:57I'm not buying this particular load of crap.
07:00That's it.
07:01The distinction here is that
07:02when they tell people like Albert,
07:04and Albert's writing his reporting,
07:05he's talking to them,
07:06and they're coming back and saying,
07:07yeah, we like Deshaun Watson.
07:08I generally do believe
07:09the Browns like Deshaun Watson, sure.
07:11But where I think this gets
07:12a little confusing, people,
07:13is it's like,
07:13well, how can you possibly say
07:16anything that goes against
07:17what Albert is telling you?
07:19It's like, well, no,
07:20but it's the same thing
07:20that's coming from the Browns
07:21that we've seen for so long.
07:23It's a lack of belief
07:23in what the Browns are trying to push out.
07:25Not necessarily a lack of belief
07:26in the reporting
07:26or the lack of the information.
07:28It's what they're trying to put out.
07:29Yeah, if Albert Breer told me,
07:30I went to practice every single day,
07:33and Deshaun Watson was head
07:35and shoulders above Shador Sanders,
07:38that's different for me.
07:39When Albert's saying,
07:40I know the Browns like Deshaun Watson,
07:43and they think he can still play,
07:46I can disagree with that,
07:48the idea behind the report
07:50or what the Browns are telling him.
07:51Yeah, like we're not disagreeing
07:53that the Browns are telling Albert things,
07:54and they're telling him
07:55that they like Deshaun Watson.
07:56That part is true.
07:58Obviously, it's everything
07:59that comes in back of that part.
08:01Do we believe that Deshaun Watson
08:03is better than Shador Sanders?
08:05But I just think it's interesting.
08:06And again, I think there's only one show
08:09in town that doesn't seem
08:12to get the Deshaun part of this.
08:14And again, I'm doing this just for Lima.
08:18Lima wants to make this about Shador.
08:20It's not.
08:20It's all about Deshaun.
08:22I heard a couple of cheers
08:24for Shador yesterday at the event.
08:27I didn't hear any boos that I recall.
08:30No, but a chorus of boos for Deshaun.
08:31Not just a chorus.
08:32I swear, a hundred extra people
08:34came in to boo Deshaun.
08:37They left their games
08:38they were playing in the other room.
08:39Is it now the time to boo Deshaun?
08:41All right, let's get in here.
08:42And listen, I can't really knock somebody
08:44for having an agenda
08:45or being mad about something
08:47because clearly,
08:48I am anybody but Deshaun.
08:50I think that's a reasonable take.
08:52Being anybody but Shador to me,
08:56specifically because,
08:57and I'm not going to try and mock it
08:58because I don't have to live in those shoes,
08:59but because the people that follow him
09:02have said nasty things about him on social media,
09:06I'm sorry, that doesn't enter the equation
09:08for my analysis of the Browns quarterback situation.
09:10I'm looking at the absolute lost causes
09:14of all lost causes.
09:16That's what annoys me.
09:17Meanwhile, the same people
09:18that'll tell you everything in the world
09:20about everyone liking Deshaun
09:22will also be the same people
09:23that tell you he has two weeks.
09:25Yeah.
09:26Make that make sense.
09:28Albert was on with us yesterday.
09:29Even how can you have this utter belief
09:32and utter truth in Deshaun Watson
09:34and then also say two weeks
09:36because there's acknowledgement there
09:38that Deshaun Watson hasn't shown the Browns
09:39anything in these practices
09:41that is warranted beyond just a very short leash.
09:44And I do like that there's a scenario
09:47where one of us is incredibly right
09:49and one of us is incredibly wrong.
09:51That's like all of our show in general, though.
09:52Isn't our show kind of like built around?
09:54Oh, you mean us versus them?
09:56Yeah, yeah, yeah.
09:57Oh, I was going to say in general.
09:58I thought we're going towards a different path here.
10:00In this topic, you're right.
10:02It's an all or nothing we're right
10:04or an all or nothing.
10:05Well, hold on.
10:06We could both be wrong.
10:07We're probably going to split the baby
10:08if we're being truthful about it.
10:09We'll be right on the Deshaun side of things
10:11and that Deshaun won't be particularly good.
10:13And then they'll be more right about Chador
10:14than we are in the idea that
10:16we think Chador actually has talent
10:17and the end result is likely going to be
10:19Chador is, I don't know,
10:22he gets seven or eight games,
10:23not enough to even showcase what he can do.
10:24And then we draft a quarterback in 2027.
10:26And so they'll say they're right there.
10:28I'm not selling my Chador stock.
10:30I'm not going to do it.
10:32I don't care that people think he's a little goofy.
10:34I don't care that people question his whatever.
10:38It'd be an odd time to sell it right now.
10:40No, I just, I think, again, I think,
10:42let me put it this way.
10:43I think Chador will be the best quarterback
10:45that sees the field for the Browns in 2026.
10:47I know, but that still won't be good enough for them.
10:49Again, they're going to take a...
10:51He can do anything but win a Super Bowl
10:52and I don't think Lima's going to give him his flowers.
10:54But that's the point, though.
10:55That's the point I'm trying to make
10:56is that I don't think there's anything
10:58Chador is going to be able to do
10:59that'll satisfy the,
11:00well, Lima's saying I was wrong about Chador.
11:03You guys swept all the discussions this year.
11:06You get the Deshaun discussion,
11:08you get the Chador discussion.
11:09I think that's going to be a moving goalpost
11:11and I think we both know that.
