00:00Deshaun Watson met with the media as the starting quarterback of a team does.
00:04He is one of the five captains for the Browns this week.
00:08And again, it is a Velcro C, but don't worry.
00:11That's for every Browns captain this year.
00:13We could rip that right off.
00:14And one of the things he was asked about was whether he had kind of thought of the Buffalo game.
00:20When was the last time he thought of the Buffalo game and here was his answer.
00:23It's been a while since that Buffalo game is out of your mind.
00:26Which Buffalo game?
00:28Preseason game.
00:29Oh yeah, I mean yeah, I'm not worried about that.
00:32You know, we focus on now.
00:33You know, it's about what we got, what we can do now.
00:35So it's not about what we're worried about in the future, or in the past, excuse me.
00:39You know, we're not worried about 24.
00:40We're not worried about last year, me not playing.
00:42We're not worried about the preseason.
00:43Right now we've got to focus on Jacksonville.
00:44Now I think there's a fair amount of people who, where we are with Deshaun is, he's the quarterback.
00:49And we're just going to put a good face on about it.
00:51I heard Jeff and Andy come out of the Deshaun press conference.
00:54And the message was, well, he's the starting quarterback and I want him to succeed.
00:59And it felt like, and I'm inferring this, but so I'm going to believe what he just said about anything.
01:06I think the most telling part of his answer was the, I, I, I, I, I, I, there in between
01:11the cliche machine and the question.
01:14What do you think he genuinely forgot about the Bills game?
01:16No.
01:16Do you think he, because a couple of things either happened there, either A, he was just being dense intentionally.
01:21And maybe that was part of that.
01:22B, he was just acting and that could go hand in hand with A or C, Munkin and the team
01:28at the Browns have done a fantastic job of wiping away.
01:31What is supposed to be a dark cloud that hangs over Deshaun Watson, everything that existed within that Bills game.
01:36And then the following press conference that happened after that game to the point where even Deshaun is just so
01:41focused.
01:42He's doing the Jimmy Butler.
01:43We're taking the rear view mirrors.
01:44We're taking them off the car.
01:45They don't even exist on our car anymore.
01:47We're windshield people.
01:47That's very dangerous.
01:48We're windshield people.
01:49That's how you, that's how you get into a real.
01:51He actually took off.
01:52He did.
01:53And he's still alive.
01:54That's the most impressive part.
01:55That's because he can't, he can't look behind himself.
01:56Right.
01:56But that's the idea.
01:57The idea here is Deshaun is so hyper focused windshield and what's in front of him.
02:01What happens if there's attractive person you want to look at, but you don't want to be obvious.
02:06That's kind of, that's kind of what, that's one of the secondary reasons why we have rear view windshield.
02:10Try to look at attractive people.
02:12Don't act like you were above this.
02:13No.
02:14Back from our single days.
02:15Not now.
02:16Cause we're spoken for.
02:17I'm not going to act like I'm above it.
02:18I'm not going to act like a creeper.
02:19You're like, well, I'm just going to look right here.
02:21It's going to make sure that what I saw was what I saw.
02:24And then I saw it and it was good.
02:26Yeah.
02:26Moving on.
02:27I mean, we're all guilty of that, right?
02:28We've all, we've all looked in the rear view mirror and been like, all right.
02:31Even, I mean, even now it's just, it's just, you're just looking.
02:34I saw a blue rhino driver today.
02:35There's no harm in just looking.
02:36I saw, I saw, I saw a propane driver at Walmart today.
02:40Okay.
02:40And she was like a Cleveland eight.
02:42And I was like, I don't understand this.
02:43She was the propane driver.
02:44Yeah.
02:45She was the propane driver.
02:46She's like those giant things of propane.
02:48She's out there.
02:49And I'm just like, where's Mack Robinson?
02:50I got to call him.
02:51I can call all my single fellas because this feels like, this feels like a worker.
02:55All right.
02:56You can tell that, that woman was sturdy, but very attractive.
03:00And this is going to be good for whoever lands her.
03:02She was sturdy.
03:03Yeah.
03:03I didn't mean in a bad way.
03:05She was like, she was like double handed in those giant propane tanks.
03:11I was like, I don't know.
03:12My fat ass could do that.
03:13Sounds impressive.
03:13Yeah.
03:14I mean, I, I feel like you're like three times as attracted to her because she was doing
03:18a blue collar job.
03:19Well, I mean, these colors don't run.
03:22Okay.
03:22You know, I'm Hungarian.
03:23So blue collar, we're going to do what we're going to do.
03:26But no.
03:27So, uh, so what do you think it is?
03:28Was he, was he, it was Deshaun acting or was Deshaun at the Browns done such a good
03:32job of making sure that he's windshield focused.
03:34He's only looking at what's in front of him that he's erased.
03:37He's erased the comments that he made.
03:39And then he's erased the actual game where he looked about as bad as I've ever seen Deshaun
03:42Watson play.
03:43And I've seen him play a lot of really bad football.
03:45I think this is a scenario of fake it till you make it.
03:48And I think that's exactly what Deshaun should do.
03:50I do that.
03:51Like you can't change.
03:52There's no football you can play until Sunday that can change the narrative or change how
03:57you feel or how you felt.
03:59And so until then, yes, you should just go ahead and gaslight yourself.
04:03I have no problem with Deshaun coming out and being like, Oh, what Buffalo game?
04:08I mean, I think we know what Buffalo game.
04:09I genuinely think he knows what Buffalo game, but you know what?
04:13Just act like it never happened.
04:14That's the smartest thing you can do at this.
04:16I genuinely think he just lumps that game into what happened in like 2024.
04:19It's all just so far in his past, even though it happened a couple of weeks ago, it's so
04:22far in his past.
04:23Cause now all we can do is put himself to the future and where he's smart about it is he
04:27understands that if you play good football, or even if you play bad football, nobody that
04:32is reasonable will bring up your preseason tape in any sort of way.
04:36You won't, it doesn't matter.
04:37Preseason football does not matter.
04:39The moment, the moment, the actual real games get started, what happened in the preseason
04:43does not matter.
04:44And it, listen, Deshaun, there's nothing Deshaun can say.
04:48That's going to convince me that how Deshaun felt after the second preseason game isn't
04:54how he feels now.
04:55And so there's no use.
04:56So there's nothing that can be gained from going back and mentioning it again or acting
05:00like it's even in, in, in kind of where you're thinking about, uh, whether, whether or not,
05:05by the way, that he actually believes it is going to be evident on Sunday.
05:09If he, if he collapses, uh, like a cheap cardboard box, well, that Buffalo game still
05:15up there.
05:15It's right.
05:16It is.
05:17Well, I don't know.
05:18It is right up here.
05:18He could have, he could have collapsed even without the Buffalo game though.
05:21I mean, there's not, there's not like a world that exists where if he, if he's bad, it's
05:24just solely because the Buffalo game is what got to him.
05:27He might've always just been bad.
05:28I think that was the straw that broke his back though.
05:30Cause he's got no Buffalo game to go off of for the previous three years that we watched
05:33him play bad football.
05:34Well, I think there's a difference between looking bad and looking lost.
05:38And I think that's what surprised me most about that Buffalo game is he looked lost.
05:41He looked like he, like he was a alien trying to play football because there was no confidence.
05:47There was no feel, there was no presence.
05:49That's what I'm talking about.
05:50Like if that guy shows up, it's just the Monstars stole his power, right?
05:54That's as simple as it is.
05:56They stole it five years ago.
05:57I won't come back and be like, they just recently stole it.
05:59They stole it five years ago.
06:00I think, I think that, I think that Saturday, I think that Saturday might've been the game,
06:05the damn given way.
06:06Again, he has a chance on Sunday to disprove that because if he comes out and he's able
06:10to, to play well enough and they either compete for a win or they get a win, that's, I think
06:17that question is answered that he has moved on from that at least for the, until they come
06:21home.
06:21And the job that Munkin will have done, if he can pull it off, the job that Munkin will
06:25have done from a sports psychology standpoint, might, it might end up being studied in colleges
06:29moving forward, how Deshaun could have wiped this away and then even go to the podium
06:32and just act like, I have no idea what you guys are talking about.
06:35And again, Deshaun Watson today said no looks in the rear view mirror.
06:39I can't focus on the future.
06:40I got to focus on now.
06:41You know, if I try to look ahead and I get distracted on not focusing on what I need
06:45to do now, then, you know, who knows what the future might hold.
06:48So all I can do is control these moments now, these opportunities I have now.
06:52And I want to be just like Todd Munkin said, like, you know, he's 60, he feels like
06:56this is his shot.
06:57So, you know, me being on my last year of my deal and, you know, being year 10, I feel
07:02like this is my opportunity to be able to go and showcase that I can still play in this
07:05league.
07:05And I can, I want to continue to play in this league.
07:08So this is my opportunity to do that.
07:10Is Todd Munkin, the Deshaun Watson of head coaches, 216-474.
07:14Oh, geez.
07:14Where does that come from?
07:15Well, no, he said, like Todd said, he's 60.
07:17He might never get another job.
07:19I was trying to.
07:20Both on their last leg, essentially.
07:22Which, by the way, I actually disagree with.
07:24I think Todd will be fine, even if he flames out here.
07:27The Deshaun stuff's interesting.
07:28If he flames out here, he probably won't get a coaching job again.
07:30A head coaching job.
07:31So much of everything I've seen about this is, you know, Deshaun's going to be motivated.
07:36Of all the things I've questioned in the entirety of his time here, I've never questioned that
07:41Deshaun is motivated.
07:43Right?
07:43No, but yesterday you questioned his heart.
07:45And I feel like, I feel like this response is a good one in response to the people that believe
07:50he doesn't have, or doesn't want to necessarily play for the Cleveland Browns.
07:54I mean, if you question his heart, then I feel like, then you're like, well, where's
07:57his inspiration going to come from?
07:59Where's his, where's his give a damn every single week going to come from?
08:01If he doesn't want to win for the Cleveland Browns, that's one thing.
08:04What's encouraging about this is that you can work in an independent system.
08:08The idea that he might not care to win for the Cleveland Browns, but he cares to win
08:11for his future football life.
08:14Yeah, we'll see.
08:16I don't know.
08:17Cause I, cause I, I can't, I can't balance the idea of, you're right.
08:20I did say that.
08:21I think that I, that it's going to be tough for him to be like, let's go win one for
08:26the
08:26Browns fans, guys.
08:27Let's do this.
08:28Right.
08:28And, and anyone actually believe him, but I also think it's like, if he fails, I'm not
08:33going to be like, he just didn't want it.
08:35You know what I mean?
08:36I'm going to be like, oh, he was a broken human.
08:38And this was a really stupid idea in the first place.
08:39Yeah.
08:40I mean, if a sports talk host ever, the response is he didn't want it bad enough.
08:43You probably should just find new sports talk host to enjoy and listen to.
08:46Cause I think Lock and Forrest said that about five years ago.
08:48It's just not a good enough reason because all these guys should want it at the end of
08:51the day.
08:51I mean, this should be, it's funny.
08:53I was, I was driving in my car earlier today and I was, I was getting ready.
08:55I was like, should I give, should I give Deshaun credit for trying to mount this comeback?
09:00And, and he could have just, he could have just laid down and said, I'll just take my
09:04money and not even bother.
09:07And the reason why I won't give him credit is because he had to show up in order to collect
09:11the money.
09:12Like he had to, like, this is still, this is still part of the exchange of all of this
09:16is that he had to be here or else he would get fined.
09:18And then he wouldn't be able to collect the paychecks.
09:20And there's a part of me that still now wonders is like, is he just, is he just going through
09:24the motions to make sure the check still clears and everything's all fine.
09:28Even though it's guaranteed money, you still have to get fined if you don't show up.
09:30Right.
09:32But ultimately, I mean, I, I don't, I don't give him the credit and I don't, I don't worry
09:37or I don't think about this being some sort of massive thing for Deshaun and trying to
09:41rewrite his history.
09:41But that is what he's playing for.
09:43And he is playing for a future team.
09:45216-474-0092.
09:47How motivated will Deshaun Watson be?
09:48Got a couple of calls we're going to get to here in a second.
09:50And Mike said, why is it a problem to be in the Deshaun is the quarterback?
09:54I want him to succeed.
09:55No one said it's a problem.
09:56It's not a problem at all.
09:57That doesn't mean you have to believe everything he says in a press conference.
09:59Or you also don't have to think it's going to work.
10:01You can want it to work the way that like Jeff Phelps, you mentioned that clip that was
10:05online and his reaction and everything.
10:07It's like Phelps wants the Browns quarterback to do well because he wants the Browns to do
10:11well.
10:11I feel like you're in that same boat too.
10:12Yeah.
10:13You want the Browns quarterback to do well because you want the Browns to ultimately do well, but
10:17it doesn't mean that you think it's going to be reality.
10:19And it doesn't mean that you think that if you had to bet on it, you would bet on that
10:22being the outcome that's going to happen.
10:25Like I think Coach Riz texted me, I think it was last week or the week before, and he
10:29was like, all right, Sophie's choice.
10:32Deshaun gets you 11 wins, 11 and 6, and you're in the playoffs this year.
10:36Or, you know, Shador starts the majority of the game and you're 7 and 10.
10:40Which would you choose?
10:40And it's like, what kind of question is that?
10:43Like I can't be the guy that rails against tanking.
10:45I can't be the guy that says, I'm so sick of losing.
10:48I don't care how it happens, just make me a bicycle clown and then be like, but not
10:53with Deshaun.
10:53I will happily eat my own words.
10:56I will.
10:57I will skip to work every day if this is an 11-win team, if Deshaun Watson's the reason
11:02they're an 11-win team.
11:04And you know what?
11:04I'll give the Browns all their flowers.
11:07I'll go to a damn florist and get more flowers to give them.
11:10You're just picking down burial sites and you're just taking flowers from everywhere?
11:15Wild flowers out there on the property.
11:18I'll just have the kids risk poison ivy, but not me.
11:21You got to spring for the nice ones.
11:22No, no, no, no.
11:23They're flowers.
11:24Just accept my flowers.
11:26Okay.
11:27But your point is right.
11:28And I think the accurate one, you're bad at this job if you're not going to tell people
11:34how you really feel.
11:35So we have to tell you how we really feel.
11:36We have to tell you what we think is going to happen while acknowledging that there's a
11:40lot of people out there that if Deshaun wins 11 games, they don't care that it was
11:43Deshaun that did it.
11:44You just want to win 11 games.
11:45That shouldn't be hard.
11:46Let's go with Dominic in Strongsville.
11:48Dominic, welcome to the show, bud.
11:49What you got for us?
11:51Tinfoil hat theory.
11:54Okay.
11:55Has anybody talked about Deshaun's salary being insured?
12:00Yeah.
12:01There was a collection of, you know, a considerable amount of money.
12:04Not as much as was originally reported, I understand.
12:07But by the same token, if you're going to play Deshaun at all this year, is Deshaun going
12:12to take us to the Super Bowl?
12:13No.
12:14Is Deshaun going to take us there?
12:16No.
12:16Okay.
12:17If you got to play a guy because you're paying him a crap load of money, play him at the
12:22beginning of the year.
12:22If you're going to collect any insurance money, because this guy's made of glass, he's not
12:26going to last.
12:28He's proven that.
12:29You know, I don't know if anybody thinks he's going to play six games.
12:32You know, if you're going to collect some insurance money on this guy's salary, play him beginning
12:36of the year, bring Shadour in.
12:38He's the homecoming hero.
12:40And he plays out the rest of the year.
12:42All right, Dominic.
12:43We're going to debate that off the air.
12:45Thank you very much.
12:46I'm not sure Coach Riz would be able to handle someone suggesting that a team is playing a
12:51quarterback because of the insurance money and not to do with who's going to try to win
12:54them.
12:54Someone tell Coach Riz to pull off to the side of the road and then listen to that clip
12:58right there from that call.
12:59He might just explode with fury and anger that doesn't really exist with him.
13:04I also do think, and I get it, the Browns have shown endless gall when it comes to things
13:11they're willing to do and normalize and tell you that you should like.
13:15And if you don't like it, they'll go ahead and look at you like you're the idiot.
13:19I get that.
13:20The idea that the Browns would risk two to five to six to ten games this year all to try
13:28and get some money, more money out of Deshaun Watson when a year ago the owner said, hey,
13:33we all know this thing didn't work out the way we wanted it to.
13:36No, they have to really believe this.
13:38They have to.
13:38I also don't believe Todd Munkin would sign up for that.
13:41I can't believe Todd Munkin signed up to have Deshaun as a starter, but I sure as hell
13:46know that guy didn't sign up to have Deshaun as a starter for cap purposes.
13:51Yeah, it just doesn't make any sense.
13:53And that's okay.
13:54I like the theories.
13:56Keep them coming because we're trying to make as much sense out of this as anybody.
13:58We can.
13:59I mean, if you heard Zach earlier, we'll play some clips later on in the show, but
14:02he's like, nobody outside the building understands what's going on with this.
14:06Yeah, no, he's right.
14:07We've all been very confused as to this whole entire process.
14:09Yeah, if I, you know, we were talking about the Seahawks takes that have just been, in
14:14the last like ten days, it is, man, the Browns have a lot of talent.
14:19What the hell are they doing at quarterback?
14:21And honestly, there were a lot of holdouts on this.
14:24And then Deshaun went kablooey in that post game and on the field against threes and
14:28fours.
14:29And everyone's like, I'm not risking my credibility for this.
14:33I'm not going to say that this is going to work out after that.
14:36Yeah.
14:36I mean, even guys like Albert, who's like, yeah, it might last two weeks.
14:39Yeah.
14:39Okay.
14:40All right.
14:40We'll find out.
14:41All right.
14:41Howard and Akron, we got about 45 seconds, buddy.
14:43What you got for us?
14:45Hey, what's going on, man?
14:47I just hope everybody enjoy the season because we have really, you know, thrown tomatoes at
14:58Deshaun Watson, you know, before the season even started.
15:02And I wish we would talk about winning more than losing because all we talk about is losing.
15:10Like, so.
15:10Because all they do is losing, Howard.
15:12Yeah, they won eight games in two years, Howard.
15:13You know, okay, okay, okay.
15:16But, you know, they put some pieces around Watson.
15:19We got a pretty good backfield.
15:22We got a revamped offensive line.
15:26We got players on defense.
15:28I just think you guys should be a little bit more optimistic.
15:31Howard, I've said they're going to win eight games this year.
15:33I think Nick's the most optimistic person on the station.
15:36I've been called a homer and an a-hole for saying that for about three weeks now.
15:39And those are exclusive.

16:25Look it up.
16:26I thought we were role-playing.
16:27I thought we were role-playing.
16:27I thought we were role-playing.
16:27I thought we were role-playing.
