00:00Well, further evidence that mainstream media, UK mainstream media, is basically a dying industry.
00:05Now, part of that, of course, is through technological change, the exciting ways in which viewers can now decide what
00:12they want to watch with such a plethora of options out there.
00:16But part of it is the ridiculous, woke, left-wing attempt to constantly crowbar in lectures, moral lectures, into everything
00:26from drama to sport.
00:29And I'm sure many of you, like me, have just switched off completely, really, now from mainstream media.
00:34I find it completely unwatchable.
00:36And I just watch what I want, when I want, with YouTube on my telly.
00:41Let me know if you're the same or not.
00:43But UK mainstream media is dying.
00:45And it's dying through the self-inflicted wounds of this constant left-wing, woke agenda.
00:51And you can see here, trust in the news has fallen off a cliff.
00:57In the UK now, you can see, trust in the news has gone down 5 points to 30%.
01:04So that's 20 points lower than just a decade ago.
01:09And the reality is, the likes of Channel 4 and BBC have never been more irrelevant to people than they
01:16are today.
01:16And that is reflected in the financial pressures they now face.
01:20You've had Channel 4 announcing this plan to cut 340 jobs.
01:24That's 28% of their workforce.
01:27It's nearly a third of their workforce going.
01:29Such is the perilous state of Channel 4.
01:34And then you've got the BBC, of course, where people still are forced to pay for a BBC.
01:39They may have absolutely no interest in via the licence fee.
01:43You have this insane system thing when you think about it, where people that present the news or interview politicians
01:50are actually being paid more than the Prime Minister.
01:53I mean, for goodness sake, given its licence fee funded, surely there should be a cap that no one at
01:59the BBC should be earning more than the Prime Minister.
02:02But no, and yet, with these massive wages they pay out, they're in a very perilous situation as well now.
02:10You've seen the announcement that between 1,800 and 2,000 jobs, almost one in 10, are going because they're
02:17tackling significant financial pressures.
02:19Well, they can't be that significant with some of the wages they're paying out.
02:22But you can see there the BBC needing to make £500 million in savings in two years.
02:29And also on top of that, the prospect now of industrial action at the BBC, because big cuts coming and
02:37you can see there a dispute over pay and the plan ahead for the BBC.
02:43But yeah, I think that shows you really accurately the state that the likes of BBC and Channel 4 have
02:48got themselves into.
02:49They've got no one to blame really, apart from themselves.
02:51They've made themselves totally irrelevant to large swathes of the population.
