00:00Hello there, good afternoon.
00:02Well, this weekend really is a tale of two halves.
00:05Some rain in the forecast for this afternoon, but by the time we reach tomorrow, lots of
00:09dry, settled conditions around.
00:11And the reason for this, well, it's all thanks to a cold front slowly sinking its way southwards,
00:15also a fair few showers across the north.
00:17Quite a squeeze in the isobars to start with, but eventually high pressure starts to build.
00:22It clears a lot of the rain away and also eases up the winds by the time we reach tomorrow.
00:27And it's also the reason why things are starting to warm up as we progress into next week.
00:31But before we get on to that, let's reverse the clock and talk about what we can expect
00:35to see this afternoon.
00:37Now, it's been a little bit of a miserable picture for many this morning.
00:40Plenty of cloud and some spells of rain.
00:43The cold front that's sinking its way southwards will eventually bring a fair amount of clouds,
00:47some grey skies and some persistent spells of rain across southern areas of England and
00:51Wales.
00:52To the north of this, though, hopefully brightening up, allowing some sunny spells to push through
00:57that cloud and turning largely dry as well.
01:00But across Scotland, quite a showery picture.
01:02Some of these showers turning rather heavy at times.
01:04And the odd shower or two may just skirt around into coasts of Northern Ireland,
01:08perhaps just push into northwest England as well.
01:11Also a very blustery day.
01:13Still quite strong winds, certainly across the far northwest.
01:15But for many, it's going to be quite windy.
01:18And feeling quite warm and humid for some.
01:20Temperatures pushing into the mid-20s across parts of the south and southeast.
01:24Not quite as high across many areas of the north.
01:27And in that strong wind, probably offsetting those temperatures a fair bit.
01:31But for many areas, it's going to feel rather warm and muggy.
01:34And it's going to stay that way across the south, still with some cloud and some rain at
01:38times before it eventually clears its way south and eastwards.
01:41But across Scotland, that rain is set to continue.
01:44Some showers still pushing their way eastwards here, still turning quite heavy overnight.
01:48But to the south of these showers, and once any rain clears across the south, it should
01:52turn largely dry with a mix of cloud and also some clear spells.
01:56Still fairly warm across the south, though, and still that slight muggy feel.
02:00And wind's still fairly strong as well.
02:02So that's going to hold those temperatures up, even where we do see those skies clearing
02:06away.
02:07So temperatures largely between 10 and 14 degrees Celsius across the UK.
02:13Now, as promised, that high pressure will build through on Sunday.
02:16So many areas will see a much drier and brighter weekend, plenty of sunshine.
02:21Still a few showers to contend with across Scotland first thing.
02:24But even here, those showers will ease away through the course of the afternoon.
02:28So most areas will see a dry, settled afternoon, not feeling quite as muggy.
02:33And temperatures coming down a touch.
02:34But in much lighter winds and plenty of sunshine, it's certainly going to feel quite pleasant out
02:39there.
02:39Temperatures widely in the mid to high teens, just about pushing into the low 20s across
02:43parts of the south and southeast.
02:45But like I said, even though temperatures are a touchdown, it should feel a bit nicer
02:49than what we've seen this afternoon in the lighter winds and also in the sunshine.
02:54Now, what can we expect for the week to come?
02:57Well, there will still be some rain in the forecast, mostly across the far north and northwest
03:02in terms of rain and also some showers.
03:04But for many areas, it's going to remain dry, bright, still fairly warm as a result of the
03:09high pressure holding on.
03:11Now, there's a bit of uncertainty as to how long that warmth is going to last.
03:15But certainly for the first few days of next week, we could see temperatures return into
03:19the mid-20s.
03:20Then after that, it still looks like it's going to remain warm.
03:23There's still some uncertainty in the forecast.
03:26But of course, if you want more details on that, certainly around the temperatures into
03:29next week, don't forget you can stay subscribed to our YouTube channel.
03:33Bye-bye.
