00:00Hello there, thanks for joining me for your evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Through the night and indeed much of the week ahead, high pressure will dominate our weather.
00:09That means with the air sinking through the high, we're not going to see much in the way of rain.
00:13But tangled up in this high, at the moment we do have this cold front slowly slipping southwards.
00:19It is providing some rain and drizzle through the evening over the Midlands, parts of Wales,
00:23extending into East Anglia.
00:25To the south of that, we could see some fog for a while, and then the drizzly conditions just spread
00:30across southern counties of England
00:31through the middle part of the night.
00:33Behind that, we've got clearer air, so many places seeing lengthy clear spells.
00:38A few showers just coming into eastern parts of England, and we'll keep some light showers going over northern Scotland.
00:43But in this zone, across central, southern Scotland, northern Ireland, northwest England, north Wales,
00:48that's where we are going to see the lightest winds.
00:51And as a result, with the clear skies, that means the temperatures will be falling away most in here.
00:56So, some pockets of frost likely, certainly over parts of southwest Scotland and the west of Northern Ireland.
01:02With this breeze, it'll help to keep the temperatures up somewhat over eastern counties of England.
01:08Into the details for Monday, and it will be, say, a bit of a cold start for northern Ireland, southwest
01:13Scotland.
01:14We should see some sunnier skies here.
01:16May start a bit dull and damp over southeast England.
01:19This zone of rain still tracking southwards, making for maybe a wet morning over the channel hours.
01:24Then we'll see showers developing over eastern England in particular, especially east Anglia initially.
01:29But then coming into Kent, we could see some showers getting quite heavy by the afternoon and coming one after
01:35another.
01:35So, it could be quite a wet end to the day here.
01:38One or two showers may be getting into the Midlands.
01:40Perhaps most of Wales, western England, and much of Scotland and Northern Ireland will stay dry.
01:46And after that chilly start here with some sunny skies and light winds, pretty quite pleasant, actually.
01:51As temperatures get up to 12, maybe 13 Celsius.
01:5412 or 13 possible across the south and the east too.
01:57But with this brisk wind, that's going to make it feel really quite fresh on those North Sea coasts.
02:03Particularly when the showers come along, of which there will be more as we head into the evening time.
02:08Perhaps a few more coming into southeastern parts of Scotland as well during Monday night and into Tuesday morning.
02:15Much of the south and west will be dry.
02:17You can see the winds moving around the area of high pressure that's building itself into more central parts of
02:23Scotland.
02:24And that, again, will allow temperatures to fall in this zone.
02:27So, again, some pockets of frost likely, certainly across Scotland.
02:31And some fog likely too in Northern Ireland and southern and western parts of Scotland for Tuesday morning.
02:37Tuesday then, again, sees a mixture of sunshine and cloud for many.
02:42There will be more showers on Tuesday over northeast England and the eastern parts of Scotland.
02:46Not as many, perhaps over eastern England.
02:48But still some, again, likely to come into parts of Kent.
02:51Whereas most of Wales, western England, Northern Ireland and northwest Scotland looking dry and bright on Tuesday with some good
02:58spiles of sunshine.
03:00Again, though, that wind will make it feel quite chilly coming in from a fresh North Sea.
03:05So, temperatures only 13, 14, maybe in the sunniest skies.
03:09But certainly feeling cooler in that wind and when the showers come along.
03:13That area of high pressure dominating for much of this week.
03:15So, we're not going to see huge amounts of rain.
03:18The sunniest skies likely to be in the west.
03:20And that brisk, nagging chilly winds will become more and more of a feature of the weather across the south.
03:26Particularly around the middle part of the week.
