00:00Hello again. The weather that you're going to get through the next 24 hours depends quite
00:04markedly on where you are in the UK. Towards the south and east, there's a lot of dry weather
00:10to be had because of the high pressure here. But further north and west, there's cloud,
00:14there's rain, there's strengthening winds coming in because of this waving frontal system.
00:19In the south and east, yes, a clear end to the day. Across some eastern parts of Scotland,
00:23you may catch the northern lights. Small chance though, because things will be clouding over
00:28and there's the rain that's arriving as well across parts of Scotland, northwest England,
00:33north Wales and parts of Northern Ireland too. And here it's going to be pretty windy as well.
00:38With all that unsettled weather, quite a mild night. But towards the south and east,
00:43where we have the clearer skies and it stays dry, actually it's going to be a fair bit fresher than
00:48some recent nights. Yes, towns and cities holding up in double digits, but rural spots falling a few
00:52degrees lower than this. And we could see some mist and fog patches developing. These may take a little
00:58while to clear tomorrow morning, but otherwise there's a lot of sunshine to be had across central,
01:02southern, eastern parts of England through tomorrow. A more unsettled theme though, towards
01:06the northwest. We have spells of rain pushing their way in. And as those wavy features arrive,
01:12we're going to see some more persistent, intense rain initially across Northern Ireland,
01:16but that will feed into Scotland and parts of north and northwest England as well. And all the time,
01:20we need to watch out for those gusty winds. We're talking gusts of 40, 50 miles per hour,
01:24even inland. It could cause some problems. In the unsettled weather towards the northwest,
01:30well, it's going to feel pretty unpleasant. But even here, temperatures are above average for the
01:34time of year. Towards the southeast, feeling a bit warmer, similar to Friday or Thursday,
01:39really, with temperatures getting into the low 20s. How much rain are we going to get? Well,
01:44a fair amount across some parts towards the northwest. Like I say, towards the south and east,
01:48very little rain, if any, really, for many places here. But across Northern Ireland,
01:54initially going to be pretty wet, western parts of Scotland, perhaps the highest rainfall totals
01:58though over maybe north Wales, but also northwest England. Cumberland Fells, for example, could see
02:03maybe 50, 60 millimetres, perhaps a bit more than that. And quite widely in the northwest,
02:07we're looking at around 20 to 40 millimetres. So enough to cause some impacts. And we do need to
02:12also watch out for those strong winds. That band of rain will sweep its way further southwards
02:18later Friday and overnight into Saturday. By the time that we get to the end of the night,
02:23lingering over some parts of central England, southern Wales could still be a bit heavy,
02:27but it is breaking up as it goes. Ahead of this front, we do have clearer skies. So again,
02:32a bit of a chilly night here. Once more, there could be some mist and fog patches in the southeast.
02:36And behind it, some clearer skies developing. Also a few showery bursts of rain there across some
02:41western, northwestern parts of Scotland. Then a bit of a slow start for some central parts of
02:46England, south Wales, a fair amount of cloud, a bit of rain, perhaps even a few heavier bursts of
02:51rain across south Wales and the west country, north Devon, for example. But the clouds are going to
02:57break up a little bit, perhaps turning a bit brighter across those central areas, but it pushes
03:02into more southern counties by the end of the afternoon and a few spots of rain where the clouds
03:07thick enough. Brighter skies across central parts, northern Ireland, southern parts of Scotland,
03:12cloudier for much of Scotland though, with a few outbreaks of rain towards the north. And temperatures
03:16while generally still a bit above average for the time of year, again getting to the low 20s towards
03:21the south, mid to possibly high teens elsewhere. Later on in the weekend, and many southern areas
03:27are heavily under the influence of high pressure, so fairly settled. But there will be quite a bit of
03:33cloud on Sunday, and especially in the west, that cloud is likely to be thick enough for a few
03:37outbreaks of rain. Further north, well, it is going to be a fair bit wetter. Outbreaks of rain pushing
03:42through, some strengthening winds, and especially towards the far north of Scotland, it could be
03:47relatively wet with some persistent rain at times. But for a more in-depth look at what we can expect
03:52this weekend, check out our weekend weather forecast, which Claire Nazir has brought to you. Bye-bye.
