01:46And, you know, the offense absolutely has got to stay as healthy as they can because that, at the end
01:53of the day, is what's going to be carrying this team throughout the season.

02:24And the thing is, the Lions have had so much success other than last year that they've looked beyond the

02:30But I think now, maybe after week two, you've been humbled a little bit.
02:33It's back to, hey, we need to make sure we win this division.
02:35And if you win your division, you have a chance.
02:38Okay, so they make a move yesterday, and it isn't a big move.
02:43But they pluck a player, Bishop Fitzgerald, off of the practice squad of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
02:50Fitzgerald was a playmaking player in the secondary at USC who goes undrafted because he got hurt late in the

03:00had a knee injury, then goes to the combine, runs the slowest 40 of any safety at the combine,
03:08has the worst vertical jump of any safety at the combine.

03:14But it's weird, right?
03:15Because he was a playmaker in college and ends up on Pittsburgh's practice squad.
03:21Now, when you pluck a player off their practice squad, he has to be on your active roster for three
03:25weeks.
03:26So he's got a window here to maybe make a difference.
03:30But, you know, earlier in the week when Dan Campbell spoke to the morning show,
03:36he said that Brad was going to be looking at players on other teams' rosters.
03:40And when you, you know, young players, this is obviously a player that they, I'm going to say,
03:46I'm going to bet strongly that they scouted him at USC, they liked him at USC, then he gets hurt,
03:54perhaps isn't really recovered at the combine, and it leads to him going undrafted.
03:59And now they're like, all right, well, we can take this player with no risk.
04:04So it's a no-risk type of move.
04:07But I always like those guys that just make plays in college.
04:10And they don't always translate.
04:12I got it.
04:12But he was a playmaker in the secondary at SC.
04:14I mean, it's what Kirby Joseph was at Illinois.
04:18It was the same type of thing.
04:19I would say that there is a potential cost.
04:22And because he's plucked from somebody else's practice squad,
04:25he's taking up an actual roster spot for three weeks.
04:28So I think the casualty to the Lions is Joe Bashi.
04:31I think he's the guy that has been released at this point.
04:35Hopefully he can be signed back to the practice squad.
04:37But the other concern I have is that it's out of necessity for sure because of the injury to Maddox
04:45and the safety situation in general.
04:48But the problem that the Lions have had for the first couple of weeks, and Dan Campbell said as much,
04:53is that we've got this chain of events that happens when somebody doesn't know what they're supposed to do or
05:01they're trying to do too much.
05:02And now you're going to introduce somebody into this organization that's going to have three or four days of acclimation
05:11before they start playing in the game on Sunday.
05:14So don't expect miracles right off the bat.
05:16And I'm not sure how much playing time this guy is going to get to start.
05:20But as you said, he's got a three-week window here at the very least.
05:24Just, I like the fact that he did make plays in college, but he's a practice squad guy and coming
05:33off an injury.
05:34So I don't know what to really expect here.
