08:46taking it to michigan i think that that really changed uh the culture around that rivalry and i
08:52think that that's what sprung michigan state and dan uh dan antonio to like taking michigan state out
09:02of the dumps and making them a relevant program i like that tj just selected a straight up seven year
09:07well that's what and then like it was just that sometimes you you understand when you say things
09:12like that and i don't think mike hart said it as he i don't think he understood the ramifications and
09:17how michigan state was going to use that to to this day right it's still hey they they think
09:22of us as little brother like it was kind of a passing comment but when he said it it was

09:28that was the start of michigan state's rise that was the start of michigan state showing michigan
09:34that we're big boys too and it was a painful it was it was a painful 10 years i i
09:42think after those
09:43comments were made so that for me was and d'antonio to his credit i mean he used that uh
09:49as motivation
09:50and that was the uh i think the you know pride comes before the fall and and the big galvanizing
09:55moment that i think michigan state needed and it was just if i could look back on it and say
10:00maybe if you didn't say that you didn't give them that that that bulletin board material would things
10:05have been a little different who knows maybe but that was just the start of but i'll tell you one
10:09thing major downfall that comment wouldn't that comment wouldn't matter now no it only mattered
10:15because those guys were going to be back the next year or the year after that now it'd just be

10:20set of hoes yeah it doesn't matter right but right it's like the whole spurrier you can't spell

10:59publicly but everything he's been talked about with rivalries in ohio state and michigan state it's
11:04just kind of like well it's just another game and this and this and this but i think the players
11:09feel
11:09that too because these guys they don't have that four years of pain they don't have the you know
11:16couple years ago losing you know a painful game to your rival or or having those instances like
11:23the unfortunate instances with with the tunnel or with devin bush stomping on the logo like i don't
11:29think these guys have the same passion when you're only at a school for a year or two you don't

11:35that ingrained into your soul you don't have that hatred you can try to fake it you can try to

11:41like it but it's not deeply seated and i know i think that's the same with the coaches i think
11:46that's the same with the players and for me that's where a lot of these rivalries are just getting lost
11:50and i think they're going to continue to get lost as if they keep expanding the playoffs like it's not
11:56going to like some of these games aren't just going to matter as much as they used to five or

12:00ago because when most guys will graduate from college their helmets going to look like the
