00:17a moving motorcycle in Batu Lanchang. The incident reportedly took place at about 7pm
00:24on Wednesday in the Taman-Hijau area, and was stopped after a concerned passerby intervened.
00:31Video footage shows two men on a motorcycle, with the pillion rider dragging a black dog
00:36along the road by a rope tied around its neck. The dog suffered severe visible injuries to
00:42its limbs during the incident. Batu Lanchang Assemblyman Ong A-Tiong said he was alerted
00:47to the viral video posted online by local animal rescuer David Yim Boon Leong, prompting
00:54immediate action. Ong said his special assistant lodged a police report at the Jelutong police
01:00station at about 11pm on Wednesday. He added that Yim had also filed a formal complaint with
01:08the DVS, and contacted the eyewitness. However, the current condition and whereabouts of the
01:14dog remain unknown. Ong urged police to conduct a swift investigation and take legal action
01:20if animal cruelty offences are proven.
