00:23Guys that are up against it with fifth-year options.
00:27Marvin Harrison, in his third year, could not be more disappointing.
00:34I think he's approaching Tony Mandrich's level of disappointment.
00:39I mean, when you have that name and those expectations and that frame
00:41and you came from Ohio State and every other receiver is not only good but great.
00:45Yeah, and you were supposed to be the best that they had ever had.
00:48Did you see their coach, the other LeFleur's comments?
00:51He was asked about, hey, when we see these clips of him jogging,
00:56what are we missing?
00:58You know, kind of giving the coach a chance to like,
00:59hey, we're not just going to say he's loafing it.

01:29It's lack of effort.
01:31It's lack of passion.
01:32It's lack of anything that you want from who's supposed to be your number one ride receiver.

01:45Drew Petsing, under the microscope.
01:47You've got some numbers, John.
01:48Yeah, so through two weeks,
01:50and I'll just go through four or five things.
01:53Only one turnover.

01:55And I don't know how much of that is a Petsing thing or not.
02:00231 rushing yards, 11th in the NFL.
02:03493 passing yards, which puts you at 7th in the NFL.
02:0631 points per game puts you at 5th.
02:09And 362 yards per game puts you at 10th in the NFL.
02:14So they're a top 10 offense right now.
02:16And you could argue that maybe they're 7 or 8,
02:18depending on how you want to weight all of those different categories.
02:21Point squirties at top five.
02:23Yeah.
02:24Ultimately, that's what probably matters most.
02:28I have no issue with Drew Petsing.
02:30I actually like some of the things that I'm seeing from him.
02:33And in regards to the passing yards,
02:36I think those will go up because at some point,
02:42J-Mo's going to catch a few balls and not drop everything.
02:47In regards to protection,
02:49I think with Blake Miller and ultimately Cade Mays,
02:54and as they sort through everything at left guard,
02:56it will be an offense that reliably protects the quarterback.
03:01The depth and the width of the pocket,
03:03I don't know that he's going to be under duress as much as he kind of has been.
03:07But I think Goff,
03:08tip of the cap to him,
03:09has operated extremely well under pressure and under duress.
03:13So you look at this offense and you say,
03:16kind of about where I thought it would be.
03:18With a new play caller,
03:19everybody's still adjusting.
03:21And I know a lot of people say,
03:23well, we didn't see the hook and ladder.
03:24We didn't see J-Mo throw a pass.
03:27Well, we don't know if on that reverse,
03:29if he's actually going to pull up and throw a pass.
03:31I think it was a reverse.
03:32But J-Mo dropped it.
03:33You do see some of those things,
03:35and you're still seeing Amon Rob,
03:38say Brown, get open.
03:39I'd like to see them get him involved quicker in the game
03:43and not wait till the second half.
03:46Yeah, we haven't really done an evaluation of Petsing.
03:49So I think we ask our listeners to participate too,
03:51like your first and second impressions of Petsing taking over.

03:57they scored 21 quick,

04:01But had some drive stall out.
04:04Some of that is J-Mo's got to catch the football.

04:09Let's not take stupid penalties.
04:10The offensive line's got to get settled.
04:12I think that was even more of an issue against the Bills.
04:14Oh, no question.
04:15The biggest issue that the offense has right now,
04:17you gave all the glowing numbers.
04:18The one that concerns me is too many three and outs.
04:20Right now,
04:21they are among the worst teams
04:23in terms of three and outs.

04:25And so I look at that as an offensive line issue,
04:28not necessarily a coordinator or a play call issue.
04:31That was Larry Borum in Buffalo in that environment was horrific.
04:38And let me say that again,
04:40even a little bit slower.
04:43Horrific performance by Larry Borum.
04:46You're going to get a much better performance from Blake Miller,
04:49even though he's a rookie.
04:50The first game looked like he belonged.
04:52And I'm really excited about what we're seeing from him.
04:55We had a caller DJ yesterday.
04:58He messaged me later and said,
04:59please show John these stats.
05:00I think you already saw them.
05:02Larry Borum was terrible.
05:06Right.
05:06So, yeah,
05:06I think we talked about him maybe a little bit last year.
05:08The worst performance by an offensive lineman last year
05:12was nine pressures.
05:13He had 11.
05:15And was it two sacks that he gave up?

05:19I think the reason that he took the bubble hat off
05:22was because it made him stand out even more so
05:25than if he had just been bad with the regular helmet.

05:30So,
05:32but you think it's an O-line thing.
05:33Settle that down and suddenly you're,
05:35I always felt that way.
05:36I thought last year,
05:37not that Morton was great,
05:39but your offensive line is where the play call
05:41will shine or fail.
05:43I mean,
05:43if you get everything blocked up right,
05:44you get an extra second for your quarterback to process
05:46or you get that extra guy blocked in the run game.
05:49So you're going to look a lot smarter.
05:50Let me ask you this question.
05:51Let me put it in a little bit of a different light.
05:55But is,
05:56is he doing the minimum,
05:58Drew Petsig,
05:59doing the minimum with the studs that he has?
06:02Because you do have one of the most talented,
06:05skilled groups in Amon Ross,
06:07St. Brown.
06:07Now J-Mo,
06:08yeah,
06:08catch the damn ball.
06:10But you also have Jameer Gibbs in the backfield.
06:13You've got Sam Laporta,
06:14healthy Sam Laporta,
06:15and Goff.
06:15Like,
06:16should there be more?
06:17Is he leaving it on?
06:20Is he leaving points available because he's not utilizing those guys?
06:24The bare minimum.
06:25He's getting the bare minimum because he's driving a Ferrari.
06:28Well,
06:28he's getting those guys touches.
06:30Like,
06:31they came out of the half,
06:32and St. Brown was targeted five times on that first drive of the second half
06:35against the Bills.

06:36I do think his best players are getting play calls for them,
06:39plays designed for them,
06:41trying to get them the ball in space.
06:42I think that's the job one of an offensive coordinator is if you've got these
06:45weapons,
06:46let them wreak havoc.
06:48Right,
06:48but should the numbers be better?
06:51Could basically anybody take over and with the skill that they have,
06:55get these numbers?
06:56That is always going to be the question with whoever runs this offense is,
06:59should you be doing more?

07:04I think there's enough talent to say yes.
