00:21from popular legends, they seem to act like they're not so interested.
00:28Imagine, if you will, receiving a letter through the mail from your family physician stating that they are effectively dumping
00:38you as a patient and customer and you will no longer be able to get medical treatment with their practice.
00:47This is happening in the Birmingham, Alabama area now with a group of doctors I think everyone who knows my
00:54videos should be well familiar with.
00:57This is OrthoAlabama Spine and Sports.
01:00Moves like this, under the new leadership of Junior P. Lawrence Savage, this cements OrthoAlabama as probably one of the
01:13worst providers in the Birmingham, Alabama area.
01:17Yep, I said it before, I'll say it again.
01:20It will not be long at all before one or two things takes place.
01:26Intervention, very likely, AVEA regulators, etc.
01:31If OrthoAlabama has enough free time on its hands to write and send out letters like this, they need to
01:39use that time instead to provide better service for their customers.
01:44But, so to the review, from September 23rd, 2026.
01:49Long story, but stick with me.
01:51This is about the billing department lady.
01:54I arrive ahead of schedule and am asked, did I have a method of payment to put on file?
02:01Yeah, I talked about this in some past videos.
02:03When I had an exam with a recently retired 50-year orthopedic surgeon, Perry L. Savage Sr., I did not
02:11have to have a method of payment on file.
02:14This is a policy these doctors have changed over the years.
02:19It's bad news for customers.
02:21I was a self-pay cash patient in 2019.
02:25Savage had the goal to ask me where I got the $300 to pay for my medical exam with him.
02:36I found that incredibly disrespectful and rude.
02:40Absolutely none of his business.
02:42Yeah, and based on my experience of not receiving adequate service, they're trying to get you before you get them,
02:50if you know what I'm saying.
02:51My own personal advice, I would not give them the opportunity.
02:56I would not choose the Savages as an orthopedic option.
03:00The service they provide is not exceptional.
03:03One good thing about putting a credit card on file, you can always do a chargeback.
03:10Very inconvenient, but at least you're not handing them cash money that you're probably not ever going to get them
03:18to relinquish back to you.
03:20The patient describes how they did not have a method of payment on file.
03:26They were waiting for a replacement card from their credit company.
03:32The billing department lady says, by the look on your face, that's going to be a problem.
03:38That has offended the patient.
03:40They also spend copious amounts of time obsessing over risk management tactics.
03:46Basically, the way they view you as a patient there is adversarial in nature.
03:54They relate this was a surprise question and requirement.
04:00OrthoAlabama did not mention this prior on the telephone during the appointment scheduling.
04:07So later, when speaking with the billing department representative, she says they were talking in circles and incoherent.
04:15So in an attempt to understand what was being told to her, the patient asked a couple of questions and
04:22was hung up on.
04:23Called back and they argued about whether they were hung up on or not.
04:28Later, the patient called OrthoAlabama to report this person and leave a voicemail.
04:35Because of this, the savages decided to cancel this patient's surgery that they probably needed, right?
04:44And dumped them as a patient.
04:47I may see litigation for this because I recorded just about every second of my visit.
04:53Yeah, good for you.
04:54I'll put up a screenshot of the letter they sent her.
05:18All right, so my issues with Dr. Perry L. Savage, Sr. in OrthoAlabama Spine and Sports.
05:26September 14th, 2019, visit $300 cash visit.
05:34Appointment at 3 p.m.
05:35I sat in the waiting room two hours until I saw him.
05:39Walked out of the place near 6 p.m.
05:43Their waiting area does not offer patient customer privacy or security.
05:49A crude half-wall Chinese screen curtain separates patients from the sign-in area where four or more patients at
05:59one time give their personal details.
06:02Customers can be heard giving personal health information, which is a concern of HIPAA, H-I-P-A-A.
06:09In the general waiting area adjacent to this, in the visit with Savage, I presented images of my own head
06:17and neck,
06:19clearly showing the issues, which included several-inch diameter head trauma.
06:24Curiously not acknowledged by this 50-year surgeon and professional who graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine
06:33in 1968,
06:351968, probably has seen almost every type of injury that is humanly possible.
06:42So one thing Savage told me was that the medical imagery that I showed him to assess my injury was
06:51not good enough.
06:52He wrote this in my chart.
06:54You can see it here.
06:55He says I just showed him a few slides of CT copied on paper.
07:01This is not accurate.
07:02I had a DVD-ROM disc that Dr. Savage put into his computer in the examination room.
07:10We both looked through imagery.
07:13I pointed to the same area in these pictures where anomalies have been noted.
07:20And again, he told me with a straight face that those were not injuries.
07:24My pictures looked normal.
07:27And I'll show some new findings as of April 2026.
07:32Interestingly, the same CT scans that I shared with him that he said weren't good enough have been newly assessed
07:41to be a high-resolution bone algorithm slice
07:45appropriate for evaluating osseous bone integrity.
07:49I had a chance to put this imagery in front of some new experts and compare this new information to
07:59the few lines of text Savage wrote in my chart.
08:04All right.
08:05So the area we're looking at, an axial view of the craniovertebral junction,
08:10specifically focusing on the base of the skull in the first cervical vertebrae, C1, the atlas.
08:17Primary findings.
08:18Within the highlighted red region, patient's left side image right, there's a significant disruption in the cortical continuity of the
08:28C1 lateral mass and posterior arch.
08:32This appearance may suggest a common unit fracture where the bone breaks into several fragments.
08:39The bone in this area appears irregular and displaced when compared to the contralateral side that's the patient's right.
08:48These findings could reflect an acute traumatic injury to the atlas, such as a Jefferson-type burst fracture or a
08:58complex lateral mass fracture.
09:01In continuing examination, details comparison.
09:04When comparing the highlighted region to the opposite side of the image, the normal ring-like structure of the C1
09:12vertebrae is lost.
09:14The contralateral patient's right side shows a more continuous and expected cortical outline.
09:21Anatomical deviation.
09:23The fragments in the red box appear to be shifted, which could indicate instability at the craniovertebral junction.
09:32The findings are highly consistent with an acute fracture of the C1 vertebra atlas on the patient's left side.
09:41Because injuries to the upper cervical spine carry a high risk of instability and potential neurological complications,
09:51this requires immediate evaluation by a neurosurgeon or orthopedic spine specialist
09:59and usually necessitates stabilization, such as a cervical collar, until fully cleared.
10:06I mentioned in the other video where, after challenging the Birmingham Radiological Group, Ascension, and UAB doctors,
10:15I was retaliated against in the future healthcare providers that I went to.
10:22When they looked into my case, some protest was made from one of the earlier providers,
10:28and all of a sudden I found doors were being closed to me in my quest for diagnosis and treatment
10:36of this injury,
10:37which I was repeatedly told did not exist.
10:41Two, Ortho Alabama and Dr. Perry Savage,
10:45they apparently had a working relationship or partnership with the Birmingham Radiological Group doctors,
10:54UAB St. Vincent's and Ascension.
10:56In the chart note where Savage claims he cannot explain my pain,
11:01but refers me on to their partners, University of Alabama at Birmingham, UAB.
11:07I did another video where Ortho Alabama and their Dr. Malampati were the subject of a civil lawsuit
11:16in which Birmingham Radiological Group Dr. Julian Patrick Druhan was blamed for contributing to a patient's death.
11:27Days before, that individual had some medical imagery done
11:32and was accused of not spotting deep vein thrombosis,
11:38which may have been a causative factor in that patient's death.
11:41The physician assistant Ben Jeter, PAC, sat in during this exam.
11:47He entered the room and never introduced himself.
11:51Dr. Savage also never introduced him to me as well, and this is not professional.
11:58When Savage was not looking at my CT x-ray and MRI images,
12:03Jeter thumbed through my files.
12:05Mr. Jeter silently observed,
12:09When I left, this man told me someone in their office would call me about a UAB neurosurgery referral
12:18in a few days' time.
12:20Why was I referred to a neurologist if the doctor claimed I had no injury?
12:27This phone call never took place.
12:29After one week, I had to call OrthoAlabama myself and found the appointment had indeed been made.
12:39Again, I was not informed.
12:40And what's more, I was put on a three-month waiting list for the referral to UAB.
12:47Dr. Mina Lubos, I was called by UAB and told I would have to wait an additional month
12:54because they were moving to Gardendale.
12:57At this point, I told UAB to forget it, and I canceled.
13:02I tried to contact OrthoAlabama and Dr. Savage later.
13:06When I found out the true extent of my injuries, I told an office representative,
13:15I did not believe I received fair service for my money.
13:18I invited Dr. Savage to call me and discuss this.
13:22A telephone call was recorded.
13:24You can hear it in my videos.
13:26The OrthoAlabama receptionists play the usual out-of-office games,
13:32despite the fact I got a call from the office manager just a few minutes before.
13:37That call that I was promised then and there was not returned either.
13:42I was referred to Dr. Savage in OrthoAlabama from a previous visit at AFC American Family Care,
13:50$175 cash, located off of Parkway East near Roebuck.
13:57American Family Care would not back me up on getting this write-off of a medical exam corrected.
14:04I later learned AFC is corrupt and not a reputable practice,
14:09and anyone who takes business from them is immediately suspect.
