00:00Polo made its second Mexican landfall today after the first one during the wee hours of the morning on the
00:05Baja California Peninsula of Mexico and really rich moistures coming in to southern and central New Mexico now. The greens
00:12here on the top of the scale, saturated air, very, very, very juicy air here coming in to the southwest
00:18and many areas here from San Antonio to St. George, Utah, all the way to Mason City, Iowa and Des
00:24Moines under flood watches, flood warnings, flood advisories.
00:28Just a massive flood concern here in the desert southwest into areas like Dallas that have not seen more than
00:34a hundredth of an inch of rain. We'll look at this in a minute until this event here over the
00:39past two months. Just incredibly dry. Now we're going from drought to deluge there in parts of Texas and Oklahoma.
00:44And we've had a very wet spell over the past three or four weeks in New Mexico. And that trend
00:49continues as Polo becomes a tropical rainstorm late tonight into the land of enchantment there.
00:55Moving right through the area near White Sands, New Mexico. So flooding rainfall, the core of Polo's residual moisture will
01:03be moving through New Mexico into southeast parts of Colorado as well.
01:07And that's going to be a very dangerous thing. So dangerous flash flooding and thunderstorms. El Paso, Alamogordo, Albuquerque, Santa
01:15Fe, drenching rain into Trinidad, moving into Garden City, Kansas.
01:19Luppock and Amarillo get into this too. Denver will see some showers. And we'll have some rain and thunderstorms into
01:24Phoenix and Flagstaff and Tucson for sure as well.
01:27Quieter and colder into Ely, Nevada. Down to 34. Some frost out there if there's enough moisture around. I don't
01:34think there's going to be a whole lot of moisture out that way.
01:36But it will get cold into Ely, Nevada. As we move forward then into the central and southern plains, drenching
01:42thunderstorms slide east.
01:44And watch as future radar and clouds play this forward here. Drenching rain across almost all of New Mexico.
01:51The Texas Panhandle into Kansas, into Nebraska, Omaha. A soaker of a Wednesday. We're also going to begin to see
01:57some rain break out into Dallas.
01:59This is going to be abundant moisture here with the help from the Gulf. And we need the rain. We
02:03don't want to get 3 to 6 inches just this week.
02:06But we're going to get some very heavy rain here up and down I-35. Down into the hill country
02:10as well. It's a big concern.
02:12So early to midweek and then mid to late week here. You can see the dashed line kind of delineating
02:18the two areas with the greatest risk of flooding.
02:20In the dark green zones, we're looking at 4 to 8 inches of rain from northern New Mexico into Omaha
02:26and south central Iowa.
02:28And then a second zone here. And the Dallas and points west are kind of on the edge of that.
02:33The hill country could see 4 to 8 inches of rain. Very concerned about very, very significant flooding there.
02:38Again, into the hill country of Texas. So the moisture will be spreading and we're looking at more rain.
02:42Some heavy thunderstorms here into the central and southern plains and the hill country.
02:46And moving up into the midwest as well.
02:47Now, some of these areas in Texas and Oklahoma have been exceptionally dry.
02:52With the interview there between Bernie and John Porter, you saw the southwestern map where we've been so saturated.
02:58It's been the opposite in areas like Dallas.
03:01We've only had one one-hundredth of an inch of rain since August 1st.
03:05We're going to look at 3 to 6 inches of rain. That's 3 to 600 times the amount of rain
03:09that we've had
03:10over the past two months coming up over the next four days.
03:13Waco, Texas, eleven-hundredths of an inch of rain since August 1st.
03:16Two to four inches of additional rain.
03:17Oklahoma City has also been very dry with four-tenths of an inch.
03:20We're looking at two to four inches through Friday.
03:22So this is a big deal.
03:23Be careful out there as we really ramp up.
03:26And we're especially concerned about New Mexico tonight.
