01:10so that's a personnel issue and again like i said i don't think there's a rift with campbell
01:16and and brad holmes i think that there are some underlying things when he says this
01:21they kind of spell out they need to find better players on the defensive side well let's put it to
01:27you like this um one thing maybe the most newsworthy thing that came out of the new the dan campbell

01:39same timeline which means this might be the last game sunday they play without him yeah i'm encouraged

03:32there's you know who knows who's right here because i guess i have patience when people show me competence
03:38for a whole bunch of years and then there's some issues like okay well uh they get the opportunity to
03:45work themselves out of it right i i don't know i i you know once once i've kind of planted
03:51a flag i'll stand
03:52by it otherwise literally after every win and loss you are making dramatic conclusions when that's
03:58that's probably not the best way to do things you just hey they lost the game fire everybody hey they
04:03won a game they're going to the super bowl that's not those aren't reasonable takes now there's evidence
04:09building up like last year was technically a nine and eight last place team right that's what it was
04:13this year they're off to a two and two start that's a 500 team that's not trending to be what
04:19we expect
04:19them to be so there's some evidence coming in that might make me change my mind that they're competent
04:25or that they can take the next step but hey look um everybody reaches their own point where they decide
04:32i've had enough i have not had enough of dan campbell or brad holmes yet i'm disappointed and i think
04:37there's justifiable criticism more so towards holmes and campbell at this point but you know there you go
04:44yeah i'm not seeing uh anything from dan campbell that makes me say he's not the coach of this team
04:51or should be the coach of this team i think that we're starting to see some wear on the paint

04:57and and the shine that comes with having uh brad holmes as the gm um and it's look it's his
05:04philosophy
05:04what he's doing and until he changes that it's going to be what it is and and do i think
05:09he's going
05:10to make a big move at the trade deadline i think he's really in a position where he's almost being
05:16forced to you but you got to come close to almost saying it has to happen we don't know who's
05:22going
05:22to be available that's the big unknown factor you don't know who's available from other teams um but
05:28i'm encouraged at least that the lions were in on the discussions for joy porter jr but they didn't
05:36land him and if you're not landing that that player which would seem like it was a a doable
05:43trade a reasonable trade that's a problem you asked a question your show sheet about whether or
05:49not brad holmes needed to speak and it would do a lot of good for him to explain why they
05:55didn't get
05:56in on the joy porter jr because is there a reasonable explanation there that he would come up and say

06:00he doesn't fit our scheme or guys we did our homework we're very careful about who we bring into the
06:05locker whatever it might be i don't know and portray a sense of urgency we are mining everything
06:12possible yes including trading future draft picks for helping the secondary if he were to come out
06:18and say some of those things i'd feel better um you know i keep going to the house analogy but
06:25i think it applies you bid on a house a dream house you didn't get it are you homeless now

07:09really wanted to go to dallas and he was willing to go to dallas without uh forcing an extension um
07:16does that mean that in order for him to get traded to detroit that he would have he would have

07:21sign an extension he would it would continue to hold out maybe but we don't know that well it
07:28would have been a great asset to have and then brian you know according to dan brian's coming back
07:33probably after the buy and then they cut off contract negotiations with la porta and do you think
07:42they're going to wait to see how branch does before extending him oh i would hope so yeah i would
07:49think so yeah i don't think and frankly i would have done that with la porta too i don't have

07:54issue uh with hearing that they've broken off contract talks extension talks at la porta because
07:59i think he's got to prove they can stay healthy for the season he's a really good tight end i

08:06lot but it's not like this guy's gone out there and had you know 1300 yard seasons with with 15
08:12touchdowns i mean he's been really good for this team but at some point you have to find what the
08:17casualties are going to be and re-signing your own players when you realize that the bigger need
08:23might be somewhere in the secondary than it is to have another weapon on offense but that's an
08:27after-season discussion or maybe even maybe even in season because you get you can decide all right
08:32do i want to trade out this for that do i want to improve my defense and weaken my offense

08:37you know that's a question that is i would be asking myself they did trade tj hawkinson but i mean

08:43was early on in this regime and when they were clearly building a team as opposed to having a
