00:00Hello there and a very good morning to you on this Thursday morning. Wrap up, if you're stepping out first
00:05thing, it's cold outside. We've seen a grass frost and also some local air frost towards the north. A transient
00:11area of low pressure has kept things quiet through the first few hours, although towards the west we'll see that
00:17wind pick up. Also some outbreaks of rain and then it turns lively through the night and into Friday.
00:22Winds will be strong, outbreaks of rain will be intense, particularly on this back edge, on this cold front and
00:28then frequent showers piling in. In fact, through this morning we are seeing summer-like showers affect northern and coastal
00:35districts of Scotland, perhaps one or two just down towards the north channel as well. Inland though, as I said,
00:42there is a touch of air frost in places. Some sunshine across many areas, a bright start just about for
00:48Northern Ireland. Those showers running in across west Wales as well as the west country.
00:52Scattered affair and one or two grazing the east coast with that brisk breeze. Inland, a quiet morning and also
00:59a fine morning with some sunny spells.
01:02So through the day, temperatures only slowly rising, although it will be fairly pleasant outside. And then towards the west,
01:10here's that next system coming in.
01:12It's an active set of weather fronts, bringing thickening clouds to Northern Ireland through the morning. Western Scotland, the sunshine
01:19turning hazy also across central parts of Scotland.
01:23Showers tending to fade away elsewhere. A lighter breeze across more central areas. But by afternoon, you can see the
01:30onset of that rain will turn heavy across Northern Ireland.
01:32The rain edging in across Western Scotland, hot on its heels across Anglesey as well as the Isle of Man,
01:38Cumbrian coastline as well.
01:40But through the afternoon, we hang on to brighter skies anywhere from the Midlands southeastwards. Perhaps just a shower across
01:47the Norfolk coast.
01:48Even so, many areas across England will be dry. Eastern Scotland as well through the afternoon. Although that cloud will
01:55thicken, you may find the sun comes out across Shetland.
01:58Through the afternoon, the winds also will be a feature of the weather, particularly across Northern Ireland and Western Scotland,
02:05and temperatures will struggle a little bit.
02:08So through the afternoon, 12 or 13 across the north as well as the west, we could get 16 down
02:13towards the southeast, helped with some sunny spells.
02:16Now through this evening and overnight, that rain continues its passage eastwards and southwards.
02:21It will turn heavy through the night as well as those winds continue to strengthen.
02:27And by around midnight, we'll see some rain towards the southeast of England.
02:31That rain intensifies into the early hours of the morning, so some wet and windy conditions as we enter the
02:37day on Friday with blustery showers to follow.
02:40Temperatures will hold up, not as cold as we start the day on Friday, but there will be some wet
02:45weather around and also some heavy downpours.
02:47Tricky driving conditions, the central belt, northwestern areas of England, down towards northern parts of Wales.
02:54Northern Ireland seeing some overnight and then that rain more sporadic towards the southeast, but some heavier pulses are likely.
03:01So through the first part of Friday, all of this is likely to push southeastwards.
03:06A relatively mild start to the day under the cloud, but through the afternoon, we hang on to the rain
03:12across central and southern areas with blustery showers to follow.
03:15And those winds will be gusty, particularly along headlands, as well as hills and mountains.
03:20Temperatures slightly higher through Friday afternoon across more southern and southeastern areas.
03:26So through Friday, you can see the progress of this cold front and then heavy showers moving in from the
03:31northwest with that windy weather as well.
03:34Into Saturday, those showers continue, fewer towards the southeast, but the risk of thunder is possible.
03:41But notice what happens yet again. Another transient ridge through Sunday daytime this time.
03:47And what that means, a quieter end to the weekend with some sunny breaks, a few light showers and then
03:53more rain just making some progress towards the west through the latter part of Sunday and into Monday.
03:59Wherever you are, have a lovely day and I'll see you again soon.
04:01I'll see you again soon.
