00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:04We have a lot of different types of weather around this morning.
00:07Certainly there are some showers towards the north, fog in the south and in the middle we have clouds and
00:12also some outbreaks of rain.
00:15This front is slow moving but it is edging its way southwards through today and into tomorrow, a slow process.
00:23And then frequent showers arrive towards the northwest, turning fresher across many parts through Thursday and into Friday.
00:30For the time being, showers across northern and western Scotland.
00:33In shelter towards the east you will see some clearer skies but this weather front here will bring some rain
00:38to southern counties to Scotland off and on through the day.
00:41A bit of a wet start across Northern Ireland but this rain is patchy and it will come and go
00:46so there will be some drier interludes, just a lot of clouds, a bit damp over the hills.
00:51And further south, watch out for the fog, dense in places through this morning and you will find that will
00:56be lifting through the morning,
00:58allowing for some brighter breaks as well as some sunshine.
01:01So some tricky driving conditions if you are encountering the fog towards the south.
01:06Certainly low clouds across the Pennines, the Welsh Mountains, the hills of Northern Ireland, Southern Uplands.
01:12These showers could be heavy at times across the northwest of Scotland, clearer skies with some sunshine further east.
01:18And then we do have this cloud and this rain just coming and going through the morning and into the
01:24afternoon.
01:25But notice it's sporadic so we will see some drier skies around.
01:29It's not a washout even so.
01:31Rain never too far away, particularly across Northern Ireland, southern parts, pushing in across the southwest of Scotland later.
01:37To the south of that, it's fine with some sunshine.
01:40Notice one or two showers lurking across Channel Coast, so you could encounter a shower as well across the far
01:46southwest.
01:47And certainly those showers will continue across Northern and Western Scotland, hopping over the highlands with some sunshine for Aberdeenshire,
01:53Angus, as well as the Central Belt.
01:55Here are your temperatures.
01:56We're still into the 20s across central and southern parts of England and Wales.
02:01Still some warmth in the air, the high teens across Northern England.
02:03But for the far northeast of England, only 13 Celsius, 14 across Northern Ireland and the Central Belt.
02:10And a similar situation with a bit of a brisk breeze across the northwest and northern parts of Scotland.
02:15So here's that cloud.
02:17Here's that rain just coming and going.
02:19There will be some progress with it just edging southwards as we head through this evening and overnight.
02:26And towards the north, those showers continue.
02:28Clearer skies, though, emerging across much of eastern Northern Ireland, southern Scotland as the rain, yes, continues.
02:35And notice it will blossom further south and southeast as well.
02:39So we could see some areas of wet weather just pushing in across more central southern parts of England.
02:46So all in all, here's where the cloud is.
02:48Outbreaks of rain and then those showers across more northern and western areas where it will be a chilly night
02:53yet again.
02:54In the glens of Scotland, temperatures dipping down to low single figures.
02:58But hanging on to higher values under this cloud and with that rain as we head through Wednesday morning.
03:05And that will be with more central and southern parts through the day with outbreaks of rain showery further north
03:11and some fine weather in shelter across eastern Scotland.
03:13Those showers towards the northwest.
03:16However, a ridge of high pressure will eventually topple in.
03:19So we'll lose that cloud and rain as it clears towards the east.
03:22Some uncertainty about the distribution at the moment.
03:24But there is a clearance coming through on Thursday.
03:27Some sunshine before more cloud and rain and wind arrive through Thursday evening overnight into Friday with showers to follow
03:34and fresher everywhere.
03:36So here's your city's list for Thursday.
03:38We will see some coastal showers inland though.
03:41Some fine weather, if not some sunshine.
03:43Temperatures the mid-teens.
03:44So look at this, 15 degrees Celsius for the southeast of England, much lower than what we've been experiencing over
03:51the last few weeks.
03:52So that's Thursday and into Friday.
03:54Watch out for the wind.
03:55It will be strong in the north, breezy in the south and some showery bursts as well.
03:59Temperatures could recover a little bit across more southern and southeastern areas.
04:03And in fact, further north, 15 degrees Celsius, slightly higher than what we've seen.
04:07I'll see you later.
