01:16Ibrahim Syed Abdul Majin.
01:17How are you, Dato'?
01:18I'm good, I'm good.
01:19Thank you for joining us.
01:20So, Dato' what is new about Midas participation at IJAM this year and why is this platform important for major
01:26economy agenda?
01:28First of all, thank you to Esra Awani for giving us this opportunity.
01:32Basically, our presence at IJAM this year is really about showcasing the opportunities in Malaysia's renewable energy sector.
01:40And connecting investors with the Malaysian companies that are ready to be part of that growth.
01:47And we've been a strategic partner of IJAM since 2010.
01:52It means already 26 years that we've been participating in this event.
01:59And just yesterday, we received the Best Appreciation Award for our long-standing partnership with IJAM, which we really appreciate
02:09and we really value it.
02:11And to our investors and industry players, come and visit us at our booth, at Hall 1, to basically understand
02:21more on what are the investment opportunities that we have in the country,
02:26including the incentives that are available such as the green investment tax allowance and, you know, GITA and GITA, right?
02:36We also bring together overall, I mean, total 10 of our partners which really reflect the strong public-private partnership
02:48supporting Malaysia's green investment ecosystem.
02:52One of the key highlights this year is our renewable energy supply chain program and also business matching that session
03:01that followed after that, right?
03:03Basically, the aim is to connect and build companies with Malaysian business and create opportunities for them to participate in
03:14high-value services and supply chain.
03:17And ultimately for us, IJAM is not just about attracting investment into the country.
03:23It is also about making sure Malaysian companies are ready to participate in this energy transition, right?
03:31And what is important that they have the opportunity to benefit from the growth of this industry.
03:40So, where are the biggest green economy opportunities for Malaysian companies and investors right now?
03:46And how is Mida helping local businesses from developers to suppliers benefit from them?
03:51Well, to Mida, I think the biggest opportunity is that the green economy actually creating opportunity not just developing green
04:04projects but much wider, you know, industrial opportunity around them.
04:09Just imagine for solar project, for example, it's not just about, you know, creating that opportunity within the solar project
04:19but it also include the parts and components for solar cells, modules, even for the, you know, balance of systems
04:32which include the inverters and many other opportunities
04:37in manufacturing and also services sectors, right?
04:42At the same time, we see strong potential in areas such as energy storage, energy efficiency, green mobility, and the
04:51circular economy, definitely industrial carbonization.
04:56So, compared with last year, how have invested interest and the quality of investment, elite change?
05:02What does that tell us about the duration of Malaysia's green economy?
05:09Well, we have targeted, I think, this year about 4 billion.
05:14That is what we have on hand, in hand.
05:18Just like last year, you know, our target is lesser than this year's target.
05:24But what we are getting is actually, you know, we are positive that we are getting more than 4 billion
05:33that we are targeting.
05:34because last year, I just want to share with you that overall, what we call, leads that we are, we
05:42got is about 10 over a billion.
05:44And out of 10 over a billion, 5 over a billion already, I mean, lots to say, realized but already
05:53concluded as far as approval and some of it are already realized.
05:59So, it's about 60% of it, right, or in the journey of realization, it takes a bit of time.
06:08And for this year, we have several initiatives, in the part-line, including business matching, renewable energy supply chain program,
06:17and recently announced LSS6 programs.
06:20So, these are creating additional opportunities, right, and we are also seeing growing interest from investors in strengthening Malaysia's domestic
06:31renewable energy supply chain,
06:33and also local, I mean, for local supply, local capabilities, right?
06:40But for us, it's not just about the number of leads, right?
06:45This year, we are taking much more targeted approach, and focusing on the quality of the opportunities, whether they are
06:52viable, whether they can be implemented in the near term,
06:57and whether they have a clear path towards actual investment.
07:01Interest remains strong, particularly in renewable energy, energy storage, and decarbonization, right?
07:10As I said earlier, what is important, to encourage investors that are now, you know, asking not only about projects,
07:19but also about local suppliers, right?
07:22And potential Malaysian partners.
07:25Well, to us, that is a very positive sign, and because a lead is really just a certain point, right?
07:34So, what we want to see is that interest translating into actual projects, partnerships, and opportunities for Malaysian companies.
07:44All right, finally, Datuk, what is the one key message you would like investors and Malaysian companies to take away
07:51from IGF this year?
07:53Well, the message is about business opportunities, right?
07:58One thing that I would like to put across is that Malaysia is ready for green investment, and we want
08:06Malaysian companies to grow alongside it.
08:10The energy transition is creating opportunities across the entire supply chain, from engineering and technical services to manufacturing, construction, and
08:21other supporting activities.
08:22So, the spillover actually is huge, right, from these renewable energy projects.
08:30Through initiatives like Invest Local that we have, and our supply chain programs, we help connect investors with Malaysian companies,
08:39and support local businesses, in moving into higher value opportunities.
08:46We also have a clear policy direction through this NETR, NIMP 2030, and green investment strategies, policies that we have,
08:59right?
09:00But ultimately, success is not just about how much investment comes into the country, and this is something we are
09:09also putting into practice within Maida.
09:11For example, our Maida, I mean, we have collaborated with Daikin to improve our air conditioning system, efficiency by 27%,
09:23and cut carbon emission basically over 21,2,100 tons, which is equivalent to about 88,000 win-free carbon
09:39exhaustion.
09:39It is, and that also earned Maida, the sustainable, sustainable refrigeration and resources recovery certification.
09:51So, our message to investors and industry payers is, come, you know, and do more investment in our country, but
10:01also look at Malaysia, not just that, but also look at Malaysia as a place where, you know, they can
10:07build partnerships, develop capabilities, and grow together with our local companies.
10:15So, that's all I believe.
10:17Thank you for sharing insights, Dato.
10:20Thank you.
10:45studio.
