00:00join us right now to give us a little insight on the rude guest hotline rude's most reliable
00:05heating and air conditioning products in the dmv is john kime so john were you in the locker room
00:09i know you're at the presser were you both can you kind of kind of paint the picture of where
00:14you were after the game what it was like yeah so i would spend a lot of time in the
00:18um post game
00:19presser because jayden was there and then dan clinton was there and there are some times that
00:23like okay you can you may have to stay in the locker room to skip this those are the two
00:27principal parties in this right so i was there and then in the locker room for a little bit for
00:31sure
00:32i'm talking to you know a few players um terry trey burks you know guys like that um and i
00:40think
00:40the looks on the faces just was different and it should be that was horrible right it was just
00:49different and um you know i think like with jayden for example jayden is really good there's a mistake
00:56on a play in a game if he throws if some player does something wrong and it's obvious he's still
01:01going to say that's my fault i've got to be better and like stefan digs even after one game a
01:06couple
01:06weeks ago was like oh that's just quarterback you know leap right in other words like that's
01:12quarterback speak it's my fault right i can't remember where to play but he like jayden will
01:16take the blame for everything and then this one it's like you know he certainly did he goes ultimately
01:20it's on me quinn said the same thing but then you'd also like there was also some ambiguity
01:25in the answers which suggests like they're just the total breakdown here and then like
01:30the look on cherry mclaurin's face was very telling um i you know i've covered him obviously
01:35a long time you see after some really brutal losses i just i don't remember seeing the expression
01:42like last night and it just it makes me it really has to make you wonder you know not just
01:49record-wise but where does this go from here what was supposed to happen on the play call john let
01:53me just ask you that because we've had different interpretations and uh coach quinn talked about
01:59the possibilities but what did you understand to be the play call and what was supposed to happen
02:05so the play call well honestly i don't know that anybody really has a good feel on that because
02:12exactly you know quinn said that you know clock it or throw it out of bounds so spike it or
02:17throw it
02:17out of bounds that clearly didn't either one of those happened so like that's the play but when
02:23you look at it like it certainly looked like the reaction of the players or everybody like that there
02:28was you know and then more that they were trying to do something with that play you know what i
02:32mean
02:33and so even if it's a throw it out of bounds you know he barely looks at ben sinning who's
02:38on the
02:39throw it right and there's also no urgency john that's the thing like the last 50 seconds that's
02:45crazy that's that's exactly what i was going to say is that's why like quinn said we didn't need to
02:51gain more yards which is true they didn't i mean you're you're in position right but that's i was just
02:56looking at it again it's like you know whether or not they clearly they didn't all know they clearly
03:01not all them knew they had no more timeouts remaining right because the way just the the stretch
03:06from 50 seconds to 12 to snap and then after he's tackled there was a there was not a second
03:12or two even with it yeah there was like one of the giants players like they weren't rushing up to
03:17the
03:17ball like there was nothing and that's that's why you know for a team that practices end of the game
03:22situations a lot like that was really really bad and and for whatever the you know whoever's
03:29ultimately to blame i mean ultimately it's quit dan quinn because he's on the head set too and he is
03:34the
03:34head coach and so you know that's where it has to fall ultimately on the field like you know could
03:40if jade knows he doesn't have timeouts you gotta throw it away but you know one mistake compounds
03:45another and that's where you're at but um i mean ultimately on the head set it's like no timeouts
03:51throw it away you know and here's the other thing my thing is call for the spike you didn't need
03:56you
03:56didn't need to run you didn't need to take time down you know you don't need to like if you
04:00it almost looked like you're trying to center the ball john right that's what i thought when
04:04they went to snap it well here's the other thing if you want like i remember watching the playing
04:08that when you first replay i'm like oh my gosh he got stepped on again i think it was chris
04:13paul
04:13who steps over he could have fallen down to the ground and actually to be honest probably would
04:18have been a better result i had more than you can get up and you could spike and everybody's there
04:21yeah um but i thought when they lined up to snap they're like okay they're just gonna take step
04:26spike it kick the field goal and you didn't need to run time either because if you make the kick
04:31the game's over right they don't get and if you miss it okay then you get they get one play
04:36from
04:3665 yards out that's it so you know what i mean it's just there it just none of it had
04:42made sense i'm not
04:43sure that it ever will hey john it's never great when one of the team's owners tweets after the game
04:48about the four o'clock management magic johnson did that have you heard any rumblings from other
04:54ownership josh harris specifically about their dissatisfaction with the way this game
04:59unfolded i guarantee he's not happy i'm sure he's not yeah i i mean i don't um yeah he was
05:05not buying
05:05any beer tabs last night um i don't i don't i did not hear anything from them i mean i
05:11was had too
05:12many other things to focus on but um you know i i he's there's no way anybody could be happy
05:19about
05:20that and i think the other thing is too like you know you have a city like with this team
05:24they've
05:24had so many injuries they've had so many issues over the last year and a half where it's like okay
05:29well you know you're undermanned you're this you're that that was their game like they blew that one
05:33big time yeah and like there's no excuse for that one at all like you can't dismiss that to anything
05:38other than you know you had a two touchdown lead and you couldn't hold it against the giants and um
05:45then you have that situation you get a gift not a gift but deron pay makes a good play you
05:49get the
05:49ball back it's you know holy cow look at this and then you then the major gap at the end
05:55like that
05:56and i just the thing i would worry about if you're josh harris is what happens in the locker room
06:01now
06:01like they've been you know that's been a you know seemingly united group um and like you know just
06:08with backing the staff etc like it's been a very good situation in that regard like whatever
06:14anybody wants to think about that i can't help what you see in here right so um but like after
06:21something like this you have to wonder what that does because they know they know that they had that
06:27they had a chance to win whether or not stevens makes a kick right they didn't they took away the
06:32chance to win right do you think quinn survives through the bye week after the niners game do you
06:37think there's any any possibility of a coaching change by then at this point i i i would say
06:43no um but i don't like this is like i would say um before the game i would say no
06:52for sure
06:52because it's just not what josh harris does right right um and so like he doesn't usually fire coaches
06:58mid-season he doesn't usually do that correct he doesn't right and so like i would be like you have
07:03to go but even when like ron revere was here it was like now that was his first year with
07:07ron so
07:07you're looking at different things to see like what is this you know what does it look like etc so
07:12you
07:12want to see how does he handle this um i would be surprised by that the only the only thing
07:17is
07:17like that was before last night right so um i don't you know i can't say i'm 100 sure but
07:24i would be
07:24i would definitely be surprised because it just goes against his mo and and then i think it's also
07:29like okay well then who's taking over what are you doing you know so i think that's that would be
07:35you know anton lynn has had coaching experience but i don't know when you say when you say jk that
07:40the
07:41the faces in the locker room were just different than you've ever seen was it especially terry was
07:45it sadness was it bitterness was it uh i don't know just more upset i think not just upset um
07:52with
07:52the loss but it just felt like upset with how it was handled oh yeah okay so you know what
07:58i mean so
07:58so i think like there's there's that was it the first time you kind of felt like terry was questioning
08:04the staff like without saying it this and i don't want i don't want to start saying that because then
08:10now i'm extrapolating too much and putting something onto him i don't know i'm just telling you how how
08:15he looked it was just a little bit different so i don't want to put words in his mouth or
08:19anything
08:19like that he called it unacceptable as an offense um and um that's what i know and it's just you
08:27know
08:27the whole not just him but the whole thing felt different and i just wonder like you know i mean
08:34that was a must-win game and i'm gonna say like well neither the night is a must-win game
08:38well yeah but
08:39like that you it's geez you know i'm i grew up in cleveland i've seen disastrous endings i've covered
08:47this franchise for years there was one yesterday i don't think yeah and like i don't think and i said
08:51you think you've seen it all it's like nope have not right talking to john kime commanders reporter
08:58for espn so a lot of things we can talk about beyond the ending of the game one thing i'm
09:04curious about
09:05this is more opinion what is your take on the defense not being able to even force a punt in
09:12the
09:12second half yeah the pressure is just not there and like the in the in the second half of the
09:19last
09:19four games they've given up 85 points combined that's and it's over 20 each time it's not like
09:24it's 35 you know what i mean it's consistent consistent and you know they've had i was just
09:30looking at these numbers too i think quarterbacks have dropped back like around 110 times in the
09:35second half against them three sacks the pressure you know yesterday the pressure just wasn't there
09:40enough and and you can we can all look at the secondary but and i can look at that but
09:45i think you
09:46know the strength is defense is the front seven and they weren't getting home and they weren't
09:51making jamis winston got on a roll and like that and which he's capable of and he's got he does
09:58have
09:59that ability he also should have thrown he also threw you know should have thrown a couple picks um
10:05one of which was called back that i didn't like that call okay i didn't like that call i do
10:10i was
10:11looking at that this morning i know he said the the pool the official said he pulled up and he
10:16was
10:16told he pulled him pulled himself to launch like i just i saw him put his arm on him i
10:21also i saw um
10:23it wasn't clear pass interference it wasn't clear i agree in fact it was not clear right but the point
10:28is like it's over the good second half to me you invested in the in that front seven in the
10:33offseason
10:33and the the pressure has to be there you've got to get them down more you've got to make them
10:38feel
10:38more uncomfortable and they're not doing it and so if you're not doing that like then you have a
10:43secondary that you know is has some holes and it's going to be exposed but it's got to start with
10:49the
10:50front seven because that's where you invested and and that's what needs to happen jk the thing that
10:55was frustrating in the second half from an offensive standpoint was new york and denard wilson their uh
11:03their defensive coordinator uh demat the guy he was blitzing pretty much the entire second half i
11:09mean it seemed like it yeah i mean and they were showing it i mean they were lying in eight
11:13guys up
11:13on the line and jayden was sacked five times but you know david blau was showing that he was a
11:19rookie
11:19oc in that in my opinion because he couldn't adjust to that they were telling jayden i'm gonna come we're
11:25coming after you with seven or eight guys and they couldn't just find a guy over the middle or run
11:30a
11:30screen not until the end uh i thought that was very uh frustrating from an offensive standpoint
11:36yeah that happened a few times for sure and there were a couple times there were a couple times they
11:41used some max protection a couple times it was basically one-on-one six against six and they lost
11:46and so you know i think that's that is a difficult one i would agree i mean i i don't
11:53have an answer for
11:54that because you know we all saw the same thing right and um you know you you know it's and
11:59i this
12:00is without you know this is blindly saying this without having watched like what happened on these
12:05plays was there you know what was he supposed to do what were they supposed to do what was the
12:09call
12:09etc but we saw what we saw and it was instant pressure and that was a problem why why are
12:17tight
12:18ends giving washington so so much problems because if you look at all the tight ends that they've
12:23played i went through the numbers before this game tight ends are killing washington it's not
12:28necessarily the receivers now neighbors did too but it's mostly the tight ends and likely just had a
12:32great game yesterday yeah and likely is really good but yes that that is the case and um i don't
12:39you
12:39know um nick cross being out doesn't help yeah um but i don't think that's the only thing um you
12:46know
12:47i know like in some games um i don't know i honestly do it i don't have a chance of
12:51that like
12:52i i just don't i'm surprised that at it i know like sunny was brought here and he only doesn't
12:59only cover tight ends but that is part of what he does i think likely is a is a tough
13:03matchup just
13:04because he's a good athlete and that was a guy that this team certainly went after um in free agency
13:10he's a he's a good athlete he's like a big receiver in the tight end body right so right that
13:16makes it
13:16tough but like still you know still yeah i don't have a good answer all right john nobody has great
13:21answers but i can tell you this from a radio show perspective a lot of frustrated callers so we're
13:27going to do that we're going to touch the people next john thanks for your insight yeah thanks thanks
13:31jk thanks john from espn.com
