00:00We know there's a lot of blame to go around for the ending of the game.
00:03But the question is, who do you blame the most for the horrible ending
00:09with time running out before the Commanders can attempt a game-winning field goal?
00:13Three choices.
00:14Dan Quinn, David Blau, Jaden Daniels.
00:18Here's Mike Florio.
00:19Hold on, what do they answer right now?
00:22Right now, after just three or four minutes, it's leaning towards DQ.
00:27With Jaden Daniels second, it's 71%
00:29DQ right now, 23% Jaden Daniels.
00:34It's pretty heavy DQ.
00:35You can vote at Junk's radio.
00:36I'm totally getting away unscathed there.
00:39I just can't imagine Blau saying, hey, DQ, we should run one more play
00:43to try and get three yards.
00:44I just don't see that.
00:45Well, maybe it was five or six.
00:46Five or six.
00:48If DQ said, David, I want to get five more yards, what should we run?
00:52And then David says, run this play to sit in it.
00:54That's one thing.
00:55I just can't imagine David Blau emphasized, let's get one more five-yard play.
01:00As a rookie OC.
01:02I'm not saying he's blameless.
01:04I just would be surprised.
01:05Yeah, but he's the guy calling the plays.
01:06We'll go to the phones in a moment, but let's hear what Mike Florio...
01:09What play are you going to call if you've got no timeouts left?
01:11You're going to call an out.
01:13A quick out.
01:14Let's hear what Mike Florio from ProFootballTalk.com says.
01:16My first reaction, and I have a feeling that it's probably the accurate reaction,
01:21fireable offense by Commander's coach Dan Quinn.
01:26No awareness whatsoever of the situation.
01:30No one seemed to realize until it was too late to do anything about it
01:33that it needed to line up the ball and spike it.
01:36Who in the world is making these decisions?
01:39Who in the world is calling these plays?
01:42Who in the world is paying attention to the fact that we get down to the end of the game
01:48and all we've got to do is kill the clock with enough time to ensure a field goal opportunity?
01:55When you have first and ten on the Giants 26 with 55 seconds left,
02:01this is a simple proposition.
02:02You run a play.
02:05Maybe you take two knees or you run one play and you take a knee, but whatever.
02:09You're in position to line up calmly and coolly and spike the ball.
02:15You don't even need to wait until there's three seconds left.
02:17The game's over.
02:17Oh, okay, we'll leave a couple of seconds in case we miss it and they can throw a Hail Mary.
02:20I mean, ideally, you run it all the way down to the end.
02:23You make the field goal the last snap of the game.
02:25But regardless, you definitely don't let the clock run out in overtime.
02:28It'll be interesting to see what Dan Quinn has to say about this.
02:31David Blau, some of this is on him.
02:35But the head coach is ultimately in charge of the game day operation,
02:38and it's a fireable offense.
02:40I'm sorry, but this is the life they've chosen,
02:44and this is a win that got turned into a tie.
02:49That's true.
02:50It's such a basic end-of-game situation that even the lowest-level high school coach
02:55would get roasted if they botched it.
02:58So Dan Quinn definitely has to stand there and take the bullets for botching it.
03:03Now, here's the counter-opinion, and I actually tend to agree with this one.
03:07I think the head coach is not blameless.
03:09They run the whole operation.
03:10But to me, Jaden's the one that had a glitch at the end.
03:13Here's Shady McCoy from his podcast or TV show, whatever it is.
03:17Dan Quinn got on that mic and said, you know what?
03:19It's my fault.
03:20I should have been better.
03:21What?
03:22Don't put ourselves in that spot, and that is my responsibility.
03:26Nobody else's.
03:28That's a prime example of a head coach, you know what?
03:30Taking ownership.
03:31Jaden Daniels, for you to be a type of quarterback you are,
03:35so successful, Heisman, your rookie year went crazy,
03:38and playing this game for football since you've been a kid.
03:40You know this.
03:41Situation football, you can't take no sack and go there.
03:44What are you doing?
03:45Spike the ball.
03:45You got no timeouts.
03:47One thing about football, the running back might not know.
03:50The lineman might not know.
03:52The quarterback always knows.
03:54You know why?
03:55The quarterback is the coach on the field.
03:58And I know Jaden, and I'm a big fan of him, for sure.
04:00It's my young, and I got a lot of love for him.
04:02But one thing I'm not going to do is sugarcoat nothing.
04:05Yo, you got to take ownership of that.
04:06I messed that up.
04:07That's on me.
04:08It looks crazy.
04:09What are you talking about?
04:10We got to be better.
04:10No, that's you.
04:12We all got to be better situationally.
04:14If football starts with me, everybody will say the same thing.
04:17But we just got to be better in a situation with football.
04:19You're the quarterback.
04:20Nobody else can stop the clock.
04:21No timeouts.
04:22The coach can't do that.
04:23So even Dan Quinn saying all that, this and that, bro, you already know.
04:26Your quarterback coach told you.
04:28Your coordinator told you this.
04:29Bro.
04:29Spike the ball and keep it moving.
04:31Take the field goal.
04:31That was terrible.
04:32That was bad.
04:32That was real bad.
04:33He messed this up.
04:34This is real poorly bad.
04:36Poorly ran.
04:37Right?
04:37You're a smart quarterback.
04:38You know this.
04:38But I didn't like the press conference of you saying we got to be better.
04:41Yeah.
04:42Just because I watched so many great quarterbacks, the Tom Braves of the world, right, take ownership.
04:47Yo, I got to be better.
04:48Knowing that it might be other teammates of mine or if he messed up, you take ownership
04:52of that.
04:52You the quarterback.
04:53And when I watch you say we, I'm like, hold up, man.
04:57Because your teammates aren't going to throw you under the bus.
04:59Like, yo, I don't know what our quarterback is doing right there.
05:00Correct.
05:01You know what I'm saying?
05:01So we got to be better with that.
05:02There's nothing to be wrong with taking accountability.
05:05That was poor right there.
05:06I mean, maybe it is as simple as, like, he went back to that spot in Dallas where he
05:11had his foot stepped on and he had, like, a fight or flight type response and he was
05:15like, I'm going to fall down here.
05:16I'm going to ruin this.
05:18And then he just blanked.
05:20You know what I mean?
05:21Like, maybe possibly.
05:21I think he did.
05:22Maybe that's possibly what happened.
05:24If you watch the play.
05:26I don't know.
05:26If you watch the play, he drops back like he's going to throw the ball.
05:31Right.
05:31And he looks at Sinnott.
05:32Yeah.
05:32So you can argue that it shouldn't have come down to that, that the coaches put him in
05:37a position where they should have just called a spike and kicked the field goal.
05:41Yeah.
05:42But they called a play for him to look at Sinnott to maybe get an extra five or six yards
05:47on an out pattern.
05:49So the other receivers running the routes, it's really irrelevant.
05:52And at that moment, he's supposed to either throw it out of bounds if he doesn't like
05:55the pass or throw it in the dirt and spike it, clock it, whatever the heck you want to
06:00call it.
06:01And instead, he kind of had a brain fart.
06:04Yeah.
06:04Yeah.
06:04But why is he laying there if he knew they had no timeouts?
06:07Because I think he just, like, as Cakes said, he's not processing it that quick at that
06:11moment.
06:12Like, he might have just been back.
06:13Who knows what was going through his head.
06:14He might have just been back where he hurt his elbow.
06:15He got stepped on again.
06:17And then he just, his screen went blank.
06:20Yeah.
06:21You know what I mean?
06:21Like, he just, I mean, he was in a different spot mentally.
06:24I personally don't think he was aware at that moment that he had no timeouts.
06:28It wasn't registering with him.
06:30I personally don't believe that.
06:31Do you know how many times that Valdez has whispered in my ear and said, you have a spot
06:35coming up?
06:36Yeah.
06:36And 30 seconds later, I forget.
06:38It happens all the time.
06:40Right.
06:40I believe he might have known with a minute to go.
06:43I don't think with, when he's snapping the ball, he was processing that he had no timeouts
06:48left.
06:48When they got the ball on the 23-yard line, with a minute and 55 left, okay, they got
06:55the ball on the 23-yard line after the fumble.
06:58They all knew that they had no timeouts.
07:01And they were running two-minute drill, right?
07:03So, he's the pass to Terry McLaurin.
07:0616 yards.
07:07They know there's no timeouts.
07:08Then there's a six-yard pass.
07:11And then there's a scramble.
07:13He knows that there are no timeouts the whole time.
07:15I just think in that moment, this is my opinion, in that moment, he has the call, which is
07:21a passing play to Sinnott.
07:23And in that moment, he drops back and he has the ball up in passing position and he decides
07:28not to pull the trigger.
07:30And he's just kind of glitched.
07:31And then it's only like two seconds of hesitation.
07:34And if the two seconds happen, people are screaming at him to get up.
07:37But you don't need to fall down.
07:39That whole time he didn't, he wasn't locked in on.
07:41He had no timeouts.
07:42I think he botched it.
07:43So, that's why I vote.
07:44We definitely botched it.
07:45We'll take your calls.
07:46Who do you blame the most?
07:47I blame, aside with Shady McCoy there, I blame Jaden Daniels the most.
07:52Nobody escapes.
07:53Well, Shady has a problem with his press conference.
07:56And I might agree with him.
07:57Yeah, I think that's part of it.
07:58That he should have more said it was on me 100%.
08:00100%.
08:01Yeah, yeah, yeah.
08:02Well, let me just kind of watch in the highlights again.
08:04At 40, you know, after they run the play to Rashad White for three yards.
08:10Yeah, no urgency.
08:11True.
08:12They're not acting like a team that has no timeouts.
08:15True, but he is.
08:16They're chilling.
08:16He's looking multiple times to the sideline.
08:19Yeah, they're chilling.
08:21He starts at around 47 seconds.
08:23Now it's 38 seconds.
08:24He's still looking over.
08:25They're obviously talking to him.
08:26Yes.
08:27I just can't admit.
08:29But you're right.
08:29There's no urgency.
08:31No urgency.
08:31There's 31 seconds, and they're in a huddle.
08:33No urgency.
08:33Let's see how long they're in a huddle.
08:34Well, because it's not 10 seconds.
08:35Yeah, but they know if you're going to run a play and it goes bad, you still need to
08:39be able to spike it.
08:40But there's still plenty of time.
08:42All right, so now there's 20 seconds.
08:43Still haven't snapped it.
08:45And now there's motion.
08:47Because Sine goes into motion.
08:48He comes back.
08:49And he looks to throw.
08:51He's in position to pass.
08:52And then he runs.
08:52Right.
08:53He's supposed to pass the ball there.
08:55Yeah.
08:56And if he doesn't like it, throw it out of bounds.
08:57But my point is, he looked to the sideline multiple times from 55 seconds to when they
09:03snapped the ball.
09:04Yes.
09:04And I don't think it was reiterated to him, we have no timeouts here.
09:07We have no timeouts here.
09:08You know, whatever the options are.
09:11And if that's the case, that's a huge mistake.
09:12Yeah, but he should be aware.
09:13He was aware.
09:14Or...
09:14I got to believe he was aware at the beginning of the drive.
09:16I think, but you also need...
09:17I believe he probably was.
09:18He had to be aware.
09:19He probably was.
09:20Unless someone told him in his ear, and I don't...
09:23I put this on about 5%.
09:26Snap the ball.
09:28Get to the center of the field.
09:30Go down and call a timeout.
09:31But he didn't call a timeout.
09:33No.
09:33He didn't try and call a timeout.
09:34No, he didn't.
09:35No.
09:35So, that's where I think he knew there were no timeouts.
09:39Yeah.
09:39I just think...
09:40That's actually an excellent point.
09:41He just botched it.
09:42If he thought there was a timeout, he would have called a timeout.
09:44Right.
09:44Or he just let the coaches call timeouts, which they often do.
09:48Here's what we all can agree on.
09:50The Commanders, today, are the laughingstock of the NFL.
09:53Oh, it's humiliating.
09:54That's not even...
09:55I mean, there's not even up for discussion.
09:56And the Eagles.
09:58The Eagles so got taken off the hook by Dan Quinn...
10:01That's true.
10:01...that it's not even close.
10:03It's not even in the same strategy here.
10:05I don't think it's as close.
10:06And the Browns.
10:07Well, it's worse for the Eagles.
10:10It's not as embarrassing, but it's worse for the Eagles because they actually lost the game.
10:15Yeah, this is a law.
10:16Okay, this is pretty much a law.
10:17There's no benefit to this time.
10:19I agree.
10:19This is way more embarrassing.
10:20But if they had a winning record and they tied, it's not as bad.
10:23But to lose the game is worse for them.
10:25Let's just quickly go around the room and we'll include the boys behind the glass.
10:28Who do you blame the most?
10:29Dan Quinn.
10:30He's the head coach.
10:31Cakes is Dan Quinn.
10:31EB?
10:31It all ends with him.
10:32And he doesn't do anything else.
10:34EB?
10:34That's why it's on him.
10:36It's a tie between Quinn and Blau.
10:39Okay, coaching.
10:40Jason?
10:40It's a tie between Quinn and JD.
10:42You can't go tie.
10:43Who do you blame the most?
10:44I don't know what was said.
10:45If I knew.
10:46But right now.
10:47I don't go Quinn because he's the head coach.
10:49I go Jaden Valdez.
10:51Jaden plays a major, major role.
10:53Who do you blame the most?
10:56This is tough.
10:58I think Jaden.
11:00Are you Jaden and Drab?
11:02That's on Jaden.
11:03If that's any other quarterback.
11:05Typically anti-Jaden.
11:07I was stricken from the record.
11:07Look at the national debate.
11:09Everyone's blaming Jaden.
11:10If that's Trevor Lawrence or Michael Penix yesterday, everyone's going, what an idiot that quarterback
11:15is.
11:16We're sensitive to Jaden in this town.
11:18He botched it yesterday at the end of the game.
11:20I'm not saying the coaches don't have blame.
11:22They definitely do.
11:23Quinn last.
11:24Blau could have been in his headset.
11:25No timeout.
11:26Z zebra.
11:27Run the play.
11:28Whatever.
11:28No timeouts.
11:29No timeouts.
11:29He didn't do that clearly.
11:30But at the end of the day, Jaden's the quarterback on the field.
11:34You've got to take ownership.
11:35He's been playing for a long time.
11:36Blame and Jaden is a better t-shirt than blame and Quinn.
11:41You wouldn't sell many.
11:43You wouldn't sell many.
11:44Let's go to the phones.
11:46Who do you blame the most for this ridiculous ending?
11:49Let's go to Marcus in College Park.
11:51Hey, Marcus.
11:51What's up?
11:53Hey, guys.
11:54I just wanted to congratulate you on your new banner under the image on TV.
11:59It says Moron Monday.
12:01So I like the alliteration.
12:03You like that branding?
12:04Thank you to Paulie Flick.
12:05Yeah.
12:06Yeah.
12:07Nice work.
12:08Well, what I wanted to say was, you know, we're talking about the timeout as time is running
12:14out.
12:14In the NFL, with the extra period of only 10 minutes and you're awarded two timeouts, it
12:20doesn't matter if you had any from regular time.
12:23All that needed to be discussed in the calculus of the coin toss.
12:27Are we going to take the ball?
12:28Where are we going to do this?
12:29And reminding everybody, hey, we only got a 10-minute quarter here, a fifth quarter, and
12:36we only have two timeouts.
12:38They should have been talking about timeouts before they even went out and tossed the coin.
12:44So I blame all three of them.
12:46Blau probably should have been the one leading the way on making sure everybody understood
12:51the rules.
12:52Only in the playoff is it a 15-minute quarter and three timeouts are awarded.
12:58So there may have been some confusion right from Jump Street about what they had going
13:03into overtime during the regular season.
13:06And for that, I blame Blau.
13:10Marcus, I just want to cut you off for a second.
13:13So if you look at the sequence of the last drive, as a team, collectively, there's no
13:19way to know what's inside every player's heads.
13:22They knew the situation because they were running no huddle.
13:25Now, they ran out of bounds a few times, so they didn't have to do no huddle.
13:29But after the six-yard pass to Antonio Williams, they go no huddle.
13:35Okay, so they were running like a two-minute offense, which, by the way, they practice
13:40every week.
13:41They practice in mini camps, in training camp.
13:45They practice it all the time.
13:47That's why I put it more on the player.
13:50Thank you, Marcus.
13:51Thanks, Marcus.
13:53We got a ton of calls.
13:54Who do you blame the most?
13:56All right, let's go to Ben, Ocean City.
13:59Ben, what's up?
14:00Hey, what's up?
14:01Ben Quinn, because he just watched a prime example right in front of his face unfold with
14:06the Giants who tried to get more and more yards because their kicker was missing, and
14:09then they had to blunder and mess it up.
14:11Then we went down the field and did the same exact thing that he just watched to not do.
14:16Also, people aren't talking about, at the end of regulation, not calling a timeout.
14:20When we had the Giants on the half-yard line, that doesn't make any sense either.
14:25Yeah, people have shown me that clip, too, where they snapped it, and there was still like
14:29a second or two left where maybe in theory we could have called a timeout.
14:33Say there's offensive holding or whatever, we get a safety.
14:36Or now, in hindsight, we know Cam Scadaboo wants to fumble the ball, and I know that's
14:41hindsight, but regardless, they were due.
14:43And Ben Quinn's just fine with, hey, let's go to overtime, guys, even though we have timeouts
14:47that he doesn't know how to use ever.
14:49I think that's fair.
14:50And I also think the end of the half, of the first half, now you're up 12-3, but you
14:56get the ball back with two seconds left after the missed field goal.
15:00You're on the 47-yard line.
15:02Why not go for a Hail Mary?
15:05I mean, maybe he just didn't want to drop Jaden back one more time and get hit.
15:09I don't know.
15:10I don't know why he decided to do that.
15:11I mean, it's unlikely to hit, but what is it, 10% chance?
15:17You should at least take the chance.
15:18You got a 1-10 shot.
15:20Go back to the phones.
15:211-800-636-1067.
15:23Who do you blame the most?
15:24We can sneak in one more.
15:25Let's just get it over with.
15:27Let's go to Mark.
15:28Mark and Largo.
15:30Oh, God.
15:31We'll get it over with.
15:32Yeah, let's go ahead.
15:34It's fair to say, it's fair to say, that Jaden, I have to blame Jaden.
15:39I love Jaden.
15:40And if we all had a son, we wanted him to be Jaden.
15:45If it wasn't for Jaden, Jaden, we wouldn't be in the game that we were yesterday.
15:50Jaden has to take the blame for that sequence.
15:52Now, as far as the total game, that's a different story.
15:57We'll have a conversation about that later.
15:58Yeah, there are a lot of issues to talk about the total game, whether it's the offense against
16:02a zero blitz, whether it's the defense not stopping Jameis Winston, whether it's a lack
16:05of pressure on the quarterback.
16:07There's a lot of issues.
16:08But we're just honing in on the last play.
16:10So you say Jaden deserves the most.
