00:00This is how we stop Excel from changing numbers to dates. This is particularly true for fractions.
00:05For example, if you enter 1 over 10, you'll get 10th January. To remediate that, we press
00:11Ctrl 1 and change the cell formatting to general. Instead of fraction, we'll get a number,
00:16which is number of days since 1st January 1900. As you can sense, this is going down through a
00:22real bad and frustrating rabbit hole. That's a very trivial way to get around it, and this is
00:27how you do it. Select your cells C5 to C13 and press Ctrl 1 to launch your cell formatting.
00:32Then after that, make sure you're in the number tabs and select text. One more thing about this
00:37fraction format right here. It does not work for what we're trying to do, and it also rounds to the
00:42nearest fraction that fits the chosen format constraints. We'll go back to text and click on
00:47OK. Now, if you enter fraction in a cell, it will preserve both the integrity and the appearance of a
00:53fraction.
