00:01All right, we have one child today. We want to greet Jacob, Grace Chabelle, and Keander,
00:07feeling under the weather, and also Hita Carey, and the rest of the family.
00:12You want to say hi to them? They're watching, as far as I know.
00:15Hi.
00:19All right, Kenzie, this morning, when you changed, Mommy said you looked like a particular,
00:25let's just say the legend of music, who did Mommy say you look like Wither or Geta?
00:31Michael Jackson.
00:32Michael Jackson. Can you do a little bit of the...
00:36A little bit of that.
00:38Oh!
00:43Kenzie, remember what I taught you before? This kind of relates to our lesson today.
00:47Remember when my cousin and my friends and I were younger, we used to do this thing?
00:54Actually, you do it to me. No, no, here. Do it to me. Say it.
00:58Michael Jackson always says...
01:01Ow!
01:05Now, Kenzie, was that a kind thing you did to me just now?
01:12I mean, you're playful, I know. But let's say you weren't kind.
01:17And, Kuei Johan, do you have... Are you wearing your necklace or no?
01:20No, he's not. Okay.
01:21So, yeah, last night was Kuei Johan's homecoming, and he had a really nice chain necklace for the cross on
01:29it.
01:30So...
01:31We would tend to think that's the way that people know we are children of God, right?
01:36Whenever you see someone wearing a cross necklace, right, or cross earrings, cross on your shirt kind of thing.
01:44Is that the way that people will know we're Christians?
01:47No.
01:48What do you think?
01:49It could.
01:50It could. That's a great answer.
01:52It could be.
01:54However, there is a verse, Kenzie, but I want us to see on the screen.
01:57Can you put it on the screen first, please?
02:00Ah, yes.
02:01This is how people will know that we are children of God.
02:07Read it with me, and everybody, please. Let's read together.
02:10Matthew 5, 9.
02:12Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called...
02:17The living Lord.
02:19Matthew 5, 9.
02:21Now, Jesus made sure in his very first sermon...
02:26This actually came in what we know of as Jesus' first public sermon.
02:30It's called the Beatitudes.
02:32Is it Beatitudes?
02:33The Beatitudes.
02:35Now, the Beatitudes remind us of a lot of different blessed are statements that Jesus made.
02:41This one in particular, though, Kenzie, is so important because people will know that we are Christians,
02:48not by us wearing a cross necklace or a Jesus T-shirt and things of that sort.
02:53Although, like you said, it could be.
02:55But this is how they will know.
02:57Jesus, in another verse, said in John 13, that the world will know you are my disciples when you love
03:04one another.
03:05But this here, I want to bring to mind because it relates to our sermon today.
03:09Blessed are the peacemakers.
03:11And this is the one verse, by the way, where Jesus says this.
03:14That the children of God will be called the children of God because they are blessed for being peacemakers.
03:22So, if we go back to the earlier example of when you did the Michael Jackson always says, out to
03:30your death.
03:31Now, if that were a real life conflict or a real life disagreement or argument that you had with someone,
03:39what is the right thing for you to do as a child of God?
03:43What is the right thing to do?
03:50Peacemakers.
03:51Peacemakers.
03:52So, is the way for you to be a child of God to keep the argument going on?
04:00Keep the fighting going on?
04:04No.
04:06No.
04:06Blessed are the...
04:07Peacemakers.
04:08Peacemakers for?
04:09For they will be called the children of God.
04:13Yes.
04:14Hopefully that's an easy enough example for us.
04:17Let's say it together, congregation, starting with Matthew 5, 9.
04:20The verse in Matthew 5, 9.
04:22Matthew 5, 9.
04:23Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called the children of God.
