Jaguar has unveiled Type 01, the most technologically advanced and powerful Jaguar in the brand’s history. A luxury four-door GT that never arrives unnoticed.

Type 01 inspired a celebration of contemporary culture across New York. This was a one-of-a-kind premiere, from large-scale digital displays in Times Square, DUMBO and the Lower East Side, to its dynamic arrival for an exclusive gathering at STORIED in West Chelsea, zip code 10001.

Type 01 is defined by exuberant proportions, with its low roofline, long bonnet, sleek silhouette and dramatic presence. Starting from a single line and a blank sheet of paper, it is the most aerodynamic and powerful Jaguar road car. A bold, one-of-a-kind that breaks convention, with a clear lineage to the great Jaguars of the past including the E-type and XJS.

Beneath Type 01’s clean surfaces is a bespoke Jaguar Electric Architecture which offers more than 1,000PS, always with power in reserve, for a drive that is unmistakably Jaguar. Powered by an 850-volt electrical architecture, it delivers a 400-mile range (EPA) and adds 200 miles in 13 minutes using 350kW charging. Type 01 represents a new standard of power, aerodynamics and technological advancement for Jaguar.

00:00Just like the exterior design, proportions are incredibly important for the interior of a Jaguar
00:05and we've really emphasised the length through this car.
00:08Traditionally with our products, we would emphasise the width.
00:10In Jaguar, we do things differently, emphasising the length through the entire area of the cabin,
00:17really stretching those volumes from front to back to create a real sense of drama on the inside.
00:22We've then highlighted that even further with the bold use of our signature graphic.
00:26Three brass lines that run the entire way through the cabin,
00:28all the way along the door tops and right through the centre of the vehicle.
00:34Really from the base of the windscreen, splitting this unique dashboard in two,
00:37around the hallway down this incredible central spine, right to the rear of the load floor.
00:42That directly talks to those amazing exterior proportions,
00:45but more importantly for the interior, this really sets the foundations, if you like,
00:49for this beautiful clean flow of materials that we have in the car,
00:53running uninterrupted throughout the entire length of the vehicle.
00:55So I'd like to talk about a few of the key features that really make this interior so incredibly unique.
01:00And we start up here at the front, even onto the exterior, in fact, with the strikethrough graphic.
01:05If you notice, that doesn't finish on the exterior,
01:07but it actually continues through onto the upper dashboard surfaces.
01:11So we start to blur the boundaries between outside and in.
01:14Here we have our driver's display, 24-inch glass OLED screen, fully touch-operated,
01:20but also supported by the physical controls in the steering wheel.
01:23And it's here that we place all our driver-focused functions.
01:27And that gives us a great advantage.
01:29That means the central screen only needs to be home to those shared functions,
01:33the things you use on a day-to-day basis, much more frequently, such as audio and climate control.
01:37And as such, that means we can really reduce the size of that screen.
01:41We can place it lower in the cabin and have it fall very naturally to hand on top of this
01:45central spine,
01:47forming part of a very intuitive user experience.
01:49Then the seating position.
01:50This is really important to this car.
01:53Many modern EV packages leave you feel like you're sat on the car and definitely not within it.
01:58But it's incredibly important, this being a Jaguar, that that wasn't to be the case.
02:02So our engineering team went to great lengths when developing this package to create this absolutely perfect low GT driving
02:09position.
02:11But we wanted to elevate that experience, and we've done so in the way that the architecture wraps around you.
02:16As you look into the car, you can see we have a very slim, visually lightweight dashboard that sits that
02:21little bit lower in the cabin.
02:23We have this high central spine that runs alongside you the whole way through the car.
02:27But even down to the materiality, the textile that wraps up from the floor up into the door lowers, wrapping
02:33around you.
02:34Altogether, this creates a very cosseting, driver-focused environment.
02:37And the seat design itself.
02:39Again, we wanted to continue our philosophy of this clean, unbroken flow of materials through the car.
02:44But in order to do that on the seat, again, we needed to do something a little bit different.
02:48So we employed a new bonding process.
02:50One that allows us to use larger pieces of material on the seats without the need for additional split lines
02:55and seams.
02:56And the result is this beautifully clean aesthetic that you can see here.
03:00And then when we wrap the back of the seats with this luxurious Cavadrat textile,
03:03we end up with something much more close in inspiration to a beautiful lounge chair rather than traditional automotive seating.
03:09So we place the clear side display here for two specific reasons.
03:14Firstly, for moving from the traditional location where you'd expect to see it up here,
03:18just simply really improves upward visibility out of the car.
03:20Especially when you consider this low GT driving position and the very fast windscreen angle of the vehicle.
03:27Secondly, we are placing it here, just within your peripheral vision at the base of the windscreen
03:31and at the same height as the exterior door mirrors.
03:34It just has great advantages in terms of that focal adjustment from looking at the screen to looking out at
03:40the road ahead.
03:42We've also placed the display within a full-width panoramic soundbar.
03:46So we've brought the speakers from those traditional low-down locations up high
03:50to create this incredibly immersive wall of sound at the front of the cabin.
03:55But aside from the incredible audio benefits that brings,
03:58that also really reinforces the design as well.
04:00Because it means we can remove traditional plastics and speaker grills from the door lowers
04:05and let the beautiful flow of materials continue in the lower part of the cabin.
