00:00My name is Andrew Ellis, Propulsion Manager for Jaguar.
00:02So we've chosen to go with three permanent magnet motors on board Type-01,
00:07two in the rear in our rear EDU and one in the front.
00:10Those have been specifically chosen for their class-leading efficiency.
00:13We're able to hit a peak efficiency of 95%.
00:16What we're also able to do is, in certain scenarios, switch off our rear EDU, our rear motor,
00:23in order that we can save on the drivetrain losses through the car
00:27and hit even higher efficiencies for the high-speed cruise,
00:31where we don't need to deploy all of the power.
00:33This is our twin rear EDU. It's been developed bespoke for Jaguar.
00:37It's a high-power twin rear EDU with class-leading torque density of 51 Nm per kilo.
00:43It's got two motors, one in the right and one in the left,
00:46independently able to drive each of the rear wheels on the car
00:48for true torque vectoring across the car to provide improved high-speed stability.
00:53Type-01 has three motors, outputting 1,015 brake horsepower
00:58and 10,650 Nm of torque at the wheels, giving us that real feeling of power in reserve.
01:04So when we first looked at the design for Type-01, we knew it needed to be a Jaguar.
01:10It needed to feel and drive like a Jaguar.
01:13That meant power in reserve, effortless performance,
01:16and delivering incredible pace, but with the utmost grace.
01:19To enable the true feeling of a Jaguar, we wanted the car to have a real rear bias
01:24in its power delivery.
01:26The car has a 70-30 rear-to-front split on its power delivery,
01:31enabled by the rear motor.
01:33Type-01's been engineered to have global charging interoperability.
01:37That means the customer can go wherever they want, whenever they want,
01:41and be able to plug in seamlessly.
01:43Our headline figures at 850 volts, supported by our battery,
01:48is able to put 200 miles of range into the car in as little as 13 minutes.
01:53We're able to switch our battery into a 400-volt native setup.
01:57That allows us to still charge at 250 kilowatts.
02:02At 800 volts, we're able to charge at 350 kilowatts.
02:05We know destination charging is really important for our customers.
02:10We've enabled dual-sided charge ports with our high-voltage junction box in the car,
02:15and that means that you can charge on either side of the car whenever you arrive.
02:20It doesn't matter where the wall box is, how long the cable is,
02:23we've got that seamless charging capability.
02:26So I joined Jaguar four and a half years ago with a blank piece of paper
02:30to design a propulsion system for Type-01.
02:33It had to be special, it had to be Jaguar,
02:37and it is my privilege to have worked on the most powerful Jaguar ever.
02:42The ability to have a power and reserve feeling,
02:46to add character into a BEV platform with a truly unique architecture,
02:50has been incredibly special.
02:52Our high-power twin Rude EU giving you that rear-wheel drive feeling,
02:56to support our power and reserve,
02:59and that confidence of go anywhere,
03:01power whenever you need it,
03:03but in a refined and controlled manner,
03:05giving you true capability wherever you might want to deploy it.
