The INDIA bloc has escalated its confrontation with the Chief Election Commissioner over the SIR exercise, with Rahul Gandhi hosting opposition MPs, civil society members, and student groups at his residence to decide their next steps. The move follows an opposition petition in the Supreme Court raising concerns over mass voter deletions and Election Commission functioning, which faced registry defects. Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah strongly rejected the allegations, arguing that the Congress has consistently lost elections under Gandhi's leadership and predicting another major defeat for the party in the 2029 Lok Sabha polls.
