00:00Repubblico Firani's offer statements. Let's listen.
00:31As a tool of collective punishment against targeted nations, they violate fundamental human rights, obstruct peace, undermine the right to
00:42development, and impede the establishment of a just, peaceful, and equitable international order.
00:48Over six decades of unilateral sanctions unblocked by the U.S. against Cuba constitute flagrant coercion against a sovereign and
00:58independent state, inflicting immense hardship on its people, undermining their fundamental human rights, and obstructing their development.
01:09Its intensification under the cynical pretext of promoting democracy exposes the profound contradiction between its stated objectives and its devastating
01:23human consequences.
01:25It is weaponizing democracy, not promoting it.
01:29No government is allowed to dictate the political future on a sovereign state.
01:35By any standards, such policies and practices, including economic warfare, are unlawful, immoral, and inhuman.
01:44Therefore, not only must this decade-long, unlawful, and inhuman embargo be lifted immediately, but the Cuban people must also
01:55receive full reparation from the imposing state for all damages incurred.
02:01Additionally, all those responsible for perpetuating these policies must be held accountable.
02:08Mr. President, having itself endured act of aggression and the consequences of economic coercion and blackout imposed by the U
02:18.S., the Islamic Republic of Iran reiterates its unequivocal opposition to all sanctions against sovereign and independent states, including Cuba.
02:29Such sanctions harm ordinary people, especially women, children, and older persons, undermining their health, safety, and well-being, and creating
02:41serious barriers to development, which is essential to the full enjoyment of human rights.
02:47They seriously violate the human rights of an entire nation by weaponizing the human rights of that very nation.
02:56This is not defending human rights, it is blatant hypocrisy.
03:01This reminds us of so-called help that the U.S. president promised the Iranian people when he said help
03:08is on its way.
03:09A few days later, and on his order, the U.S. forces bombed a primary school in Minab, brutally killing
03:17168 children between 7 and 12 years old.
03:23Mr. President, this assembly must compel the U.S. to implement the thousands of resolutions adopted with the support of
03:33overwhelming majority of the international community,
03:37rejecting the embargo against Cuba, and calling on the U.S. to end its economic, commercial, and financial embargo against
03:46Cuba.
03:46We must neither overlook nor undermine the serious legal implications of unilateral coercive measures for the international legal order, particularly
03:56in the current turbulent international environment.
04:02The U.S. charter is funded on sovereign equality, international cooperation, and the development of friendly relations among nations, as
04:11enshrined in Article 1 and 2 of the charter.
04:15The UCMs violate all these principles, as well as the principle of non-intervention.
04:21While the charter calls for international cooperation in solving global problems and promoting friendly relations among nations, UCMs instead foster
04:32confrontation, deepen divisions, and undermine the foundations of peaceful coexistence.
04:39In fact, sanctions are examples of economic terrorism, while blackheads enforced by armed forces constitute acts of aggression under international
04:52law.
04:53Despite their different forms and degrees of severity, these measures are shared with deeply troubling features.
05:02They undermine the sovereignty of states, inflict human suffering, and materially violate international law, consequently rendering them both unlawful and
05:16illegitimate.
05:17A policy that sacrifices the well-being of millions for political objectives cannot be reconciled with the principles of humanity,
05:27morality, or international solidarity.
05:29Mr. President, the Islamic Republic of Iran reaffirms its unwavering solidarity with the government and resilient people of Cuba in
05:38their struggle against the embargo and other unjust coercive measures.
05:43We will continue to advocate for the elimination of unilateral coercive measures and urge this assembly to intensify its efforts
05:52to bring these measures, including the embargo against Cuba, to an immediate end.
05:58The time has come to end.
06:00The time has come to end these unlawful and inhuman practices.
06:03Their continuation is not only a failure of international responsibility, but also an unmistakable manifestation of human and moral bankruptcy.
06:14I thank you, Mr. President.
06:16I thank the distinguished representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
