Awat County in Xinjiang, China, is attracting visitors with a unique blend of autumn scenery, fashion and traditional culture. Known as China’s cotton capital and a heartland of Dolan culture, the county has hosted a fashion show in a long-staple cotton field, showcasing garments made from locally produced fabrics and inspired by regional cultural traditions.

Beyond the runway, Awat’s golden poplar forests have become a gathering place for cultural celebrations, with more than 1,000 residents from different ethnic backgrounds joining visitors for traditional music and communal folk dances. Local tourism authorities expect the autumn travel season to extend by a month, lasting through mid-November. Discover how Xinjiang is combining cotton production, cultural heritage and seasonal landscapes to boost tourism.
