In Karnataka, the National Democratic Alliance won all four MLC seats, with the Janata Dal (Secular) and the BJP securing victories, while in Bihar, the Jan Suraaj Party and the Rashtriya Janata Dal made gains. In Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party secured key MLC seats, prompting discussions on opposition strategies and voter sentiment. Globally, the programme analyses Israel's parliamentary elections, tracking seat projections between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's bloc, the Eisenkot-Gantz bloc, and Arab parties. 00:00Hello and welcome to an India First special broadcast. I'm Gaurav Savan.
00:04The Congress party that's been raising this banner of protest against the electronic voting machines
00:11got a reality check in the recently conducted MLC elections in four states.
00:18Now these were elections that were held using the ballot paper and the Congress party has scored a big zero.
00:27A big zero in Karnataka and in Maharashtra, in Bihar and of course also in Uttar Pradesh where the Congress
00:34is anyways seen as a marginal player.
00:37But zero out of 28 seats. Is this a reality check for the principal opposition party which incidentally is in
00:46power in Karnataka?
00:48But even in Karnataka, the Congress got zero. BJP retained three seats.
00:55Allied JDS won the Bangalore teachers' seat defeating the Congress party.
01:01The question is, will the Congress party introspect on both these aspects?
01:07Losing in Karnataka where it is in power and of course zero out of 28.
01:12The Congress has repeatedly questioned the electronic voting machines.
01:17The Congress has alleged vote theft.
01:19They've demanded a return to the ballot paper.
01:22But these recent MLC results have given the BJP a political stick of sorts to beat the Congress with.
01:29If EVMs are the problem, what explains the Congress' performance in ballot paper contests in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Bihar?
01:37In Congress ruled Karnataka, the NDA has swept all four seats, leaving the Congress with just zero.
01:45So NDA has four on four.
01:47It had three on four earlier of these seats.
01:50The Congress has zero of four.
01:52Uttar Pradesh has seen a closer fight between the BJP and the Samajwadi party.
01:57The BJP getting six, Samajwadi party five, up two.
02:01Two, Maharashtra has put the NDA or the Mahayuti ahead of the Mahavikas Agadi, getting three of the five seats
02:09up for grams.
02:10Bihar?
02:10It's more fragmented.
02:12NDA, RJD, even Jan Suraj party, a new party.
02:17They've scored.
02:18Independents have scored.
02:20Congress again a zero.
02:22In fact, they lost the seat to the Jan Suraj party.
02:26The RJD, of course, has scored big.
02:28They've taken the Patna teacher's seat.
02:30The Patna seat was actually a BJP bastion for three decades.
02:35And the BJP lost.
02:37MLC results have actually led to a fresh war of words between the Congress and the BJP.
02:43But it is a huge challenge for the Congress now.
02:46So Rahul Gandhi's anti-EVM vote chori campaign now faces a fresh set of questions.
02:53With the Congress drawing a blank across the states, from Karnataka to Maharashtra to Uttar Pradesh to Bihar.
03:00In street protests and repeated attacks on the EVMs, they've said this is vote chori.
03:06But even on ballot paper, they've yet to translate anything into an electoral victory.
03:12The BJP, NDA, meanwhile, have shown a strong momentum.
03:16They've held ground.
03:17Regional players have maintained their presence.
03:19Samajwadi party, for example, in Uttar Pradesh gaining ground at the cost of independence.
03:23And multiple parties sharing the field in Bihar.
03:27What does this mean for the Congress party's narrative against the EVMs?
03:32Leaders have repeatedly challenged the EVMs.
03:34They've demanded return to ballot paper.
03:36And not just any leader.
03:37Priyanka Gandhi-Wadra, for example, she claimed that the BJP could not win a fair ballot paper election.
03:44Congress party president, Malikarjun Kargay, comes from Karnataka incidentally.
03:49He's demanded a return to the ballot paper.
03:51But does he have something to say on Karnataka where ballot paper elections have been lost by the Congress?
03:57Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he's got an opportunity to hit out of the opposition's campaign against the electronic voting machines.
04:06In a social media post, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, and I quote,
04:26Guess how many seats Congress won?
04:31Unquote.
04:33Not just the Prime Minister.
04:35After Prime Minister, there are other BJP leaders.
04:38There's Information and Broadcasting Minister.
04:41He too, tongue very firmly in cheek, he spoke of Congress's performance in Karnataka.
04:50Congress has a huge challenge.
04:51But Congress party leader, Pawan Khera, in a social media post said,
04:56If Narendra Modi is so confident that EVMs have no bearing on election results,
05:01let him prove his confidence in BJP's electoral prowess through action, not written.
05:08So, there are points that the Congress then gives out.
05:11Point one, commit to conducting all Lok Sabha in upcoming Vidant Sabha elections by ballot paper.
05:17Going forward.
05:19Two, suspend the special intensive revision of the electoral rolls and restore the 13.3 crore voters that the Congress
05:29claims are illegally deleted from the electoral rolls.
05:32Three, terminate Gyanesh Kumar.
05:36Four, repeal the law that gives lifelong immunity to Gyanesh Kumar.
05:42The Congress says, until Modi acts on these demands, his claims are nothing but hogwash, hollow words, no one can
05:52take seriously.
05:55Now, it's a strong, in Congress's perception, counter-attack.
06:00But should the Congress be looking within at results?
06:04The BJP has intensified its own attack on Rahul Gandhi.
06:09The BJP has said, Congress fails even in ballot paper polls.
06:14The BJP says, Rahul Gandhi blames the EVM but loses election after election, whether it's EVMs or ballot paper.
06:23BJP leaders insist that the problem lies with the Congress party, its leadership and not with voting machines.
06:30They've actually asked Rahul Gandhi to stop what they call is calm children.
06:37But instead of introspecting, the Congress continues to campaign against the CEC, the India bloc, the opposition bloc, is now
06:44preparing to pursue its proposed public impeachment.
06:49So, the Congress party is holding this, initially it was being called mock parliament, now they're not calling it mock
06:58parliament on their own.
07:00They're saying it's public impeachment initiative.
07:03Leader of the Congress in Rajya Sabha, Malikar Jun Kargay, he's invited opposition MPs for October 30 move for public
07:15impeachment of Gyanesh Kumpur.
07:18BJP President Nitin Nabeen, he's sharpened his attack.
07:22He's accused Rahul Gandhi of misleading the public and he's predicted that the Congress party will be wiped out under
07:29the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.
07:31The big question tonight, has the Congress's campaign lost political momentum?
07:38We'll debate that.
07:40But first, I want to begin with this war of words on the MLC results.
07:52I want to begin with this war of words on the MLC results.
08:15See, we've seen the VACAN Naitek ballot paper in one way.
08:18We've done that on the MLC results.
08:19The VACANNATIC ballot paper, the BGP won.
08:23The context of context is the context.
08:27It's the context of context.
08:29To say that, how did you get to protest?
08:31I need to ask why Mr. Modi has to be at the MHRA Library.
08:34If the ballot is created by Boge Harul Gandhi, people will not be at the MHRA Agency in QRA.
09:15।
09:45Actually, it doesn't mean that it is not the same.
09:48And what Rahul says is the whole Congress of Congress.
09:52It is the right thing.
09:54And the right thing is that Congress is going on so far.
09:58And the other thing is that Congress is going on so far.
10:03Look, this is not the right thing.
10:04It's not the right thing.
10:05It's not the right thing.
10:06It's the right thing.
10:09It's not the right thing.
10:10They have not given the right thing in the Supreme Court.
10:12They will get hurt themselves.
10:15And we have to give this fight to another fight.
10:18Our fight needs to be the election commissioners.
10:20We are involved in the election commissioners.
10:22We have told the vote to vote.
10:24You will vote alone.
10:25You will vote alone.
10:26This will be the right thing.
10:29So the Congress party now says government should commit that
10:32all Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections will be conducted by ballot paper moving forward.
10:36Congress also says that the special intensive revision of the electoral roll should be suspended
10:41and 13.3 crore voters deleted should be added back.
10:45Now, is the Congress again moving in a different direction?
10:49Should they be looking within at results?
10:52What are signals from these results?
10:54Joining me on India first is Sanju Verma, national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
11:00Bhavya Narasimha Murthy is national spokesperson of the Congress party.
11:03Swati Chaturvedis and columnist and author and investigative journalist joins us on the show.
11:08Rajat Sethi joins us as a political analyst on this broadcast.
11:13Bhavya Narasimha Murthy, zero of 28 in four states.
11:18Zero in Karnataka, a state ruled by the Congress.
11:22And Congress lost the Bangalore seat to JDS, the teacher's seat.
11:27Now, is this time for introspection instead of blaming either the EVM or the electoral system ma'am?
11:37I think these two are different issues.
11:40Right?
11:41Here it was paper ballot.
11:42Yes, we have lost.
11:44Our chief minister has owned the accountability.
11:48All right?
11:49But, if, you know, I have seen these BJP MPs making fun that, you know, whether it is paper ballot
11:58or EVM, Congress will lose.
12:00So, can I not, in the same argument, say, if people of Varanasi, when it comes to paper ballot, is
12:10not choosing BJP, if parliamentary elections happen in paper ballot, Narendra Modi will also lose Varanasi?
12:19Can I say that?
12:20Because, of course, there is vote chowri.
12:23If you are making this argument, I can also make that argument.
12:27Narendra Modi will lose.
12:29Bring down paper ballot.
12:30Because in Varanasi, BJP lost the MLC seat.
12:35Okay.
12:36It's the same argument, isn't it?
12:37If they are making that argument from their side, I am going to make this argument.
12:42Fair enough.
12:43If you want to make that argument…
12:44Let's talk about MLC elections for what it is and vote chowri for what it is.
12:47Vote chowri, whatever has happened, the leader of opposition, Mr. Rahul Gandhi, has presented with evidence.
12:55He has been consistent in this fight for the past three years.
12:59Two election commissioners have registered their objections 14 times.
13:04Supreme Court, many times this has happened.
13:07The embarrassment to election commission, then the Supreme Court said, you know,
13:10this SIR has to happen in Bihar because there are infiltrators or guzpatia in the language of BJP.
13:16Okay.
13:17And when they asked how many infiltrators are there, the election commission did not have a list.
13:23Fair enough.
13:23So, tell us why SIR is happening.
13:25And yesterday…
13:25You've made a point.
13:26You've made a point.
13:28You know, if you're coming to the SIR debate, we've had that many times in the past.
13:32Yeah.
13:32And we'll have that many times in the future.
13:35I want to stay on the current topic of MLCs.
13:38Sanju Verma wants to respond on merit, you know, of the fact that if Varanasi seats and both the Varanasi
13:48seats,
13:49if that's the argument, if it's held on ballot paper, the Prime Minister would lose, argues the Congress, ma'am.
13:55You want to respond to that?
13:56And may I add, Congress says if BJP is so confident about victory, then commit to all upcoming Lok Sabha
14:03and Vidhan Sabha elections by ballot paper going forward.
14:06Respond, ma'am.
14:06Then end all of them.
14:08You know, now I heard the Congress spokesperson.
14:12You have to be utterly shameless or you have to be completely delusional or you have to be both.
14:20She doesn't know anything other than attacking someone personally.
14:24I did not mention this.
14:26Sanju Verma, you are so predictable.
14:29You are so predictable.
14:30Bhavya ji, let Sanju ji complete her point.
14:32You have zero comments at my questions.
14:32The moment she completes her point, I will come back to you.
14:34Okay, go ahead.
14:35Go ahead.
14:36Uninterrupted.
14:37Go on.
14:37You are so predictable.
14:38You know, this is what happens.
14:41The utterly depraved and shameless Congress party spokespersons sit on national television after having a strike rate of ZERO zero.
14:53Zero seats out of the 28 MLC seats which went into polling.
14:59And after that, they refuse to wake up and smell the coffee.
15:04What they say, Gaurav ji.
15:05Shutur Murg mentality.
15:08These all Congress pravakta, they follow their leader Rahul Gandhi and are the proverbial ostrich.
15:14Come to the Varanasi topic.
15:15The proverbial ostrich.
15:16Madam, you are not going to dictate what I will speak.
15:19And now shut up.
15:21Please answer what Mr. Gaurav asked.
15:23Gaurav, you can have her on the debate alone.
15:25Okay.
15:25I don't wish to speak like this.
15:26Ask the deep-witted movement to shut up.
15:29Okay.
15:30Okay.
15:30Okay.
15:31For 30 seconds.
15:32For 30 seconds.
15:33Okay.
15:34Personally.
15:35Okay.
15:3530 seconds.
15:36All faders go down except mine.
15:38My request to all our guests.
15:39One.
15:40My request.
15:41No personal attacks.
15:42Two.
15:43Let the other speakers speak.
15:45There's ample time for all our speakers.
15:47My request.
15:48Okay.
15:49Only Sanju Verma.
15:50Bhavya ji, no personal attacks.
15:52Sanju Verma, please go ahead.
15:53No personal attacks again, ma'am.
15:55It's not a personal attack.
15:57If after losing all the 28 MNC seats, scoring a big ZERO zero, the Congress spokesperson
16:05has the audacity to laugh mirthfully on your show, and she has the audacity to ask questions
16:12of the Modi government instead of doing Atma Chintan, Atma Mantan, and introspection.
16:17What do I call the shameless spokespersons?
16:20Their bluff needs to be called out, Gaurav.
16:22But the limited point is this.
16:24Who won both Lok Sabha 2019 and 2024 Varanasi elections?
16:29Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
16:30Who won Uttar Pradesh twice in a row?
16:33It is the BJP.
16:35Who won Uttarakhand twice in a row?
16:37It is the BJP.
16:38Who won Haryana twice in a row?
16:40It is the BJP.
16:41But the point about not being able to rest the Varanasi seat from the Samajwadi party is the question that
16:47Bhavya wanted to ask.
16:48Would you like to respond to that?
16:50Go on, ma'am.
16:51I am coming to that.
16:52So, let me make one thing very clear.
16:55That Varanasi, the two seats we have, I am not going to be sitting here and saying, oh, we are
17:01very happy.
17:02You know, so what if we had a great strike rate in Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka?
17:07Varanasi doesn't matter to us.
17:08Of course, it matters to us.
17:10Every victory and every loss matters to us.
17:13We learn from our victories.
17:14We also learn from our defeats.
17:16We will go back to the drawing board and find out what happened in Varanasi.
17:20Gaurav, I want to end by saying one thing.
17:22You know the basic difference between BJP and the Congress?
17:26Even though we had a strike rate of 100%.
17:30BJP-led NDA had a 100% strike rate winning all the four seats in Karnataka.
17:35In Karnataka, the Congress scored a big zero, ZERO, a big duck.
17:40The difference between us and the Congress is we fight for even, you know, a panchayat election.
17:46Okay.
17:46So, Varanasi is a great thing for us.
17:48But even after losing, have you seen how shameless to be sitting and laughing at a national declaration?
17:55Okay.
17:55Let me quickly bring in Swati Chaturvedi.
17:58Can I?
17:58Okay.
17:58Okay.
18:00Yeah, 30 seconds, ma'am.
18:01Yes, but my request to all our guests is, please, no personal attacks, but go ahead, ma'am.
18:04Gaurav, the problem is here is, you know, before our viewers confused as to why I was laughing,
18:11I was purposely laughing to provoke this BJP spokesperson because previously she had a problem with my smile.
18:18Back then again, I did not get the answer to paper ballot being used in Varanasi election and if Narendra
18:26Modi will lose.
18:27Okay.
18:27Because it's the same argument.
18:29So, that's a hypothetical, that's a hypothetical scenario.
18:31Let me quickly, let me quickly bring in Swati Chaturvedi and Rajat into this conversation.
18:36Swati Chaturvedi, zero out of 28.
18:41Now, Congress may be a marginal player right now in Uttar Pradesh, but losing a seat to JDS in Karnataka
18:47and Darbhanga teacher's seat in Bihar to a new party, to the Jan Suraj party.
18:52Now, overall, it's not just happening in one area.
18:55Is it time for the Congress to seriously introspect?
18:59Absolutely.
19:00Gaurav, it's high time.
19:02And if you remember yesterday on your show, both the Congress spokey and the BJP spokey said that I was
19:07a partisan of either parties,
19:09when the simple point I was trying to make yesterday was that the Congress used to be, once upon a
19:15time, it's the country's oldest party, it's called the GOP, you know.
19:19And it's, as of now, you know, a huge political party, but from the center, it has moved towards the
19:27left.
19:27And clearly, that is reflecting in every election.
19:30Now, both Sanju Verma, as well as the Congress spokey here, sound like really sore losers, like Sanju Verma said
19:36that they're going to introspect about why they lost in Varanasi,
19:39where Mr. Modi was actually trailing in some rounds in the general elections.
19:43And at one point, somebody, you know, his rival almost won.
19:46So I don't see much introspection from the BJP and from the Congress.
19:51Yes, the Congress today is standing at zero.
19:54And I'm surprised at the fact that the Congress spokesperson is laughing because, you know, what does a political party
20:01exist for except to win elections and be in power?
20:03And the Congress is doing no introspection.
20:05They're just, you know, they're carrying on their agenda of personal attacks and issues which don't seem to have any
20:13traction with the voters.
20:14So you're saying these issues have no traction with the voters.
20:19But Rajat Sethi, can the Congress continue to hide behind the remove EVM and bring back the ballot paper narrative
20:27to hide whatever its electoral performances are?
20:32You know, 2014-44, 2019-55, 2024, they did rise to 99, but they remain in opposition, sir.
20:42So is their narrative working or not?
20:45You know, Swati Chaturvedi seems to indicate it's not working.
20:48So, Gaurav, first things on the Varanasi election because it is certainly being talked about.
20:54But keep in mind that in 2020, Mr. Lal Bihari of the Samaj Bhadi party was actually the incumbent.
21:00He was a sitting MLC in that constituency, the specific teachers and graduates constituency.
21:06So he has continued to retain, although the margin of victory that was there in 2020 is now reduced.
21:13It is approximately 4,000, somewhere around that number.
21:15So that's the context behind it.
21:17People might think that this is one of the seats wherein the electorate is like directly into the MLA and
21:23therefore part of the constituency of the parliamentary elections.
21:26That is not the case.
21:27Now, back to your overall question.
21:29I am of the view that Congress party, why do they continue to latch on to the core issue of
21:35vote churi is because I don't think that they have any other issue on which they can hit the streets.
21:41There is no legitimate issue around which they can rally and create an emotional sort of outcry on the streets.
21:48And several people within the Congress party thinks that the momentum was gradually shifting away to a possible third alternative.
21:55It could be a mashup of different parties with the main rabble rouser being the CJP.
22:01That is the reason why Congress wants to go over, go extremely vocal in its protest because otherwise it risks
22:09losing the momentum onto the third section of the political spectrum.
22:15And I believe this is where, this is where Congress party wants to continue.
22:19I don't think they are looking for a policy solution here because that will solve the problem.
22:23What is the narrative that will take them to 2029 election?
22:26And I think that is the hunt which is going on on the streets of Delhi.
22:30Fair enough.
22:30And Bhavya, I want you to comment on this Bhavya Narsimha Murthy.
22:33Zero in four is one part of the story.
22:35Karnataka, you know, which is your state in the sense that you have a chief minister there, you have a
22:40government there, is one part of the story.
22:42But look at even what's happening in Bihar, losing the Darbhanga teacher's seat to Jan Suraj party.
22:49I mean, you know, their newbies, they've just come and Congress was founded in 1885.
22:54Jan Suraj party was founded in 2024 and they are able to take a seat from you ma'am.
23:03So I definitely, I definitely agree.
23:07There is a lot of things that we need to introspect here.
23:10Yes.
23:10And in Karnataka, we lost all four of it.
23:13We actually expected to, it was a very close fight, you know, in Bangalore teachers' constituency, it was 600 votes.
23:21That was unexpected.
23:23But anyways, we have to introspect and we will.
23:28But here, please give me more time because we have two BJP spokespersons here and only one Congress spokesperson and
23:35one neutral.
23:35So I need to speak.
23:38Ma'am, you have ample time but please do not, you know, cast aspersions or, you know, impute any motive
23:44to anybody but be that as it may, go ahead ma'am.
23:46Mr. Rajat Sethi has always been very biased so I would consider him as another spokesperson of BJP.
23:52And Ms. Swati, just so I clear it out, I laughed only because the BJP spokesperson has a problem with
23:59my smile in the previous, in one of our debates.
24:02If you go see it's viral on internet.
24:04Okay.
24:04She always has a problem with my smile.
24:06I purposely did that to provoke her.
24:08But I definitely agree with what you said.
24:09But now on the substantive point ma'am.
24:11We are needing Congress, needing to introspect.
24:13Yes, we will introspect.
24:15Okay.
24:16But that does not trivialize vote chori or anything, you know, using EBM and the vote chori happening there.
24:23We are not going to let you trivialize the BJP, trivialize vote chori that is happening.
24:29It is a campaign.
24:30We will take it forward.
24:31And on November 1st, you will see the streets of Delhi.
24:36When the leader of opposition has given a call, Delhi chalo.
24:40You will see the support of Indians on the streets of Delhi against this vote chori, against this Gyanesh Kumar.
24:47Okay.
24:49That also has to resonate with the voters of this country.
24:53You know, because a political party may feel that Gyanesh Kumar has a role to play.
24:59There are also those questions.
25:01I mean, you know, he became CEC in 2025.
25:03He became a part of EC in 2024.
25:06What about the losses before that?
25:09But be that as it may, it's for the voters and the narrative.
25:13But Sanju Verma...
25:14We are not fighting here only because we are losing.
25:16We are fighting here because...
25:19Votes are being stolen.
25:21No, but votes are being stolen.
25:23Fair enough.
25:24Sanju Verma, Bihar is actually sending out a message to the BJP too.
25:28Losing the Patna teacher's seat.
25:30That's been your party's stronghold for three decades.
25:33Thirty years.
25:33Thirty years.
25:34Losing it to the RJD.
25:36Is that a signal being sent out to the BJP too?
25:40You know, Gaurav, let me make one thing very clear.
25:43You know, first and foremost, I agree with Swati.
25:46When she said that the Congress is increasingly becoming a leftist, left-centric party.
25:51Point number one.
25:52Point number two.
25:53Let's not conflate and confuse issues and put BJP and the Congress on the same pedestal
25:58because BJP lost in Varanasi.
26:00So, BJP has also not learnt its lessons.
26:02Excuse me.
26:03We were wiped out in Maharashtra Lopesabha 2024.
26:05We came back with a vengeance and 132 seats with a strike rate of 89%.
26:12And don't forget, in Bihar, BJP alone got 89 seats with a strike rate of 78.2%.
26:19And don't forget, the entire Darbari ecosystem wrote us off for Haryana 2024 polls saying,
26:26the yards in Haryana are fed up with BJP.
26:28We won Haryana for the third time running.
26:31I remember no pollster worth his salt gave BJP half a chance in Chhattisgarh.
26:37And we won Chhattisgarh.
26:38But that's not the point.
26:40And the Patna teacher's seat, if I may.
26:43The point is simply this.
26:44Today, I have every right to be extremely happy about the fact that the BJP-led NDA
26:51has had a 100% strike rate in Karnataka.
26:54I deserve to smile.
26:56I am very happy about the fact that we won 6 out of 11 seats in Uttar Pradesh
27:01with a strike rate of 55%.
27:03I definitely deserve to smile.
27:06I am very happy about the fact that in the recently held elections
27:10to student body councils, be it Punjab University, Hyderabad University, Patna University,
27:16Mangaluru University, Odisha University, Uttarakhand University,
27:20including the Delhi University student elections, the ABVP had a great show.
27:27And the Congress was blown to smithereens.
27:30and when they were here, they came here, and they came to me.
27:35They came to me.
27:36They came to me.
27:36They came to me.
27:38And I want to tell them.
27:39In my everyday life I was taking this thoole.
27:41I was taking the thoole in the back.
27:43And I was taking the thoole in the back.
27:45So Congress has advised me to ask the thoole to wake up and smell the coffee.
27:52you're making a fool of yourself on national TV
27:54and nothing on a day
27:55when your score is zero.
27:58You're making a fool of yourself on national television.
28:00Bhavya.
28:02Okay, since you, you know,
28:04specifically talked about Bhavya before I bring in Swati.
28:06Bhavya, you have a response, ma'am.
28:07I don't know. She has a problem.
28:08I don't know. I don't even know.
28:10She didn't answer my question whether
28:12Nareedra Modi will lose if
28:14paper ballot happens in Varanasi.
28:17This is the same argument
28:18I am using when they are using.
28:20I did not get an answer to that.
28:22But otherwise, Sajju, I am not
28:24taking her seriously because every debate
28:26she gets personal with me.
28:27She has a personal problem with me.
28:29So I'm not going to dignify anymore.
28:31I'm not going to dignify her.
28:33Okay.
28:36She has a problem with me speaking.
28:39Okay, let me take this forward.
28:41Let me take this forward.
28:43I want to bring in Swati Chaturvedi
28:44because let's talk about the bigger picture.
28:46Multiple red flags
28:48should be up in the Congress camp
28:50and the principal opposition party.
28:53What's it, you know,
28:54getting in terms of numbers?
28:56But are we extrapolating too much?
28:58Point one, point two.
28:59Are Congress leaders focusing too much
29:01on protests in the Lutyens Delhi zone?
29:05You know, one day there's a protest
29:06on Sansad Marg, Akashwani Bhavan.
29:08One day on Bhagwan Das Marg
29:10on the road to Supreme Court.
29:11One day this public impeachment
29:14again being planned.
29:15And I believe now it's at
29:16Mallikarjun Kharge's residence
29:18and then Ramlila Maidan.
29:19Is it becoming too Delhi-centric
29:21instead of taking the battle
29:23from north to south, east and west
29:25across the country
29:26like Rahul Gandhi's
29:27Bharat Jodo Yatra?
29:28That had traction.
29:31Well, Gaurav, you're absolutely right.
29:34We should look at the bigger picture.
29:35The bigger picture,
29:36there are two, three takeaways from here.
29:38The biggest takeaway is
29:39there's also a message
29:40to all the three chief ministers.
29:42Because UP is coming up for elections
29:44and we all know
29:45that despite the BJP saying
29:47that everything is hunky-dory in UP,
29:49it's not.
29:50There are clear differences
29:51between Yogi Adityanath,
29:52Amit Shah and Naren Modi.
29:54And for the BJP,
29:55the biggest worry
29:55is how to manage Yogi
29:57and how to manage a win in UP.
29:59Because UP is critical.
30:00You know, I mean,
30:02there is no politics in India
30:04without winning UP, number one.
30:06Number two, in Karnataka,
30:07which is one of the very few big states
30:09left for the Congress,
30:10they had a, you know,
30:11successful changeover of chief ministers.
30:14And for DK Shiv Kumar,
30:15this is like a personal loss.
30:17Because, you know,
30:17he had promised the Gandhi family
30:19when he was made chief minister
30:21that Karnataka is going to be a safe house.
30:23It is not, clearly.
30:24Because they've, you know,
30:25they've been, they've lost
30:26and it's so difficult to lose
30:27when you're in power.
30:28And of course, in Bihar,
30:30you know, Samrat Chaudhary
30:31should be worrying about the fact
30:33that Prashant Kishore,
30:34who's a newbie,
30:35is kind of stealing his thunder.
30:37So the bigger message
30:38is also to three chief ministers.
30:40But the biggest,
30:42I think, in my reckoning,
30:44would be the message
30:45that Uttar Pradesh is sending
30:46and the voters of Uttar Pradesh
30:48are sending.
30:49And clearly the BJP,
30:50I mean, the Congress
30:51has literally no stake in UP,
30:52but the BJP should worry about that.
30:55Rajat Sethi,
30:56if you were to combine
30:57Uttar Pradesh,
30:5880 seats,
30:59Bihar,
31:0040 seats,
31:01120 seats,
31:02and for anyone
31:04to be in 7 Lok Kalyan Marg,
31:06these two states
31:06become extremely important
31:08as does Maharashtra with 48.
31:10But I want to understand from you
31:11your thoughts
31:12on, you know,
31:14Samajwadi Party
31:15being so close to the BJP.
31:165 of 11
31:17for SP
31:18and 6 of 11
31:19for the BJP
31:20and, of course,
31:21the electorate
31:21of Varanasi's
31:23SP retaining
31:23Varanasi teachers'
31:25MLC seat
31:25and a decisive win
31:26in the Varanasi
31:27graduates' constituency.
31:29Is that a big signal
31:31for Yogi Adityanath also?
31:34I agree, Gaurav.
31:36I think BJP
31:37will have to
31:38really think
31:40why are there still
31:42internal differences
31:42in the party?
31:44You know,
31:44we saw Keshav Maurya,
31:45the deputy CM,
31:47coming out
31:47and making a statement.
31:49So,
31:49so close to an election,
31:50you're barely a few months,
31:52four or five months
31:52away from the election.
31:53It should have been
31:54a united house.
31:55There should have been
31:56cleanup within the party.
31:57There should have been
31:58radical changes.
31:59There are,
31:59you know,
32:00the OBC aspirations
32:02of the caste communities,
32:04various kinds of those
32:05which have not found space
32:06in the current setup
32:08of the power structure
32:09that is there.
32:10So,
32:11I believe there are,
32:12there will be
32:12and there has been enough
32:13anti-incumbency
32:14which would build in
32:15just because of the time
32:16that has been spent
32:18by Yogi G.
32:19as the CM.
32:20So,
32:20it's a significant time.
32:22So,
32:22maybe there are a lot
32:23of internal daggers
32:24which will come out.
32:25So,
32:25it's going to be difficult
32:26and you absolutely
32:27cannot take things
32:28for granted.
32:29You will also see
32:30that Samajwadi party
32:31and their rule.
32:32A lot of people
32:32have forgotten also
32:34the anti-incumbency
32:35that used to build up
32:36in the 2012-2017 rule
32:38of Achilles Yadalji
32:39when he was the chief minister.
32:41Lots of learnings.
32:42There has been
32:43some corrections
32:44since 2024
32:45but a lot needs
32:46to be done
32:47and I think
32:47that's the mirror
32:48that BJP has to see.
32:49But again,
32:50you know,
32:51if you contextualize it,
32:52if Yogi G.
32:53would have lost
32:54all the seats,
32:55people would have been
32:55gunning for his resignation
32:57by now.
32:57But Congress,
32:58see,
32:58every party has a lesson here.
33:00Congress has no lesson.
33:02Congress will live
33:03lives in this
33:03la-la land.
33:05They are so happy
33:06about anything
33:07and everything will happen.
33:08In Bahrain,
33:08I see they lost
33:09MNC.
33:09I asked Modi to resign.
33:10He's so rude.
33:10Sanju Verma,
33:11come in and then Bhavya.
33:13You're so rude.
33:14Sanju,
33:15UP message.
33:17UP message so close to elections.
33:19Bhavya,
33:19first Sanju
33:20and then you.
33:21Sanju Verma,
33:22go ahead, ma'am.
33:24You know,
33:24Gaurav,
33:25in the last three
33:26Lok Sabha elections,
33:28Uttar Pradesh
33:29assembly elections,
33:31Congress' vote share
33:32has never crossed
33:332.37%.
33:34Congress has managed
33:35to win perhaps
33:36four seats
33:37in three
33:38Uttar Pradesh
33:39assembly elections
33:39put together.
33:40So Congress
33:41is a big zero.
33:42It is nowhere
33:43it will be running
33:43as far as
33:44Uttar Pradesh goes.
33:45Priyanka,
33:46Vatra and Rahul Gandhi
33:47credibility
33:48in Uttar Pradesh
33:49is against
33:50ZERO zero.
33:51But I want to
33:51focus on one thing.
33:52You know,
33:54when Rahul Gandhi
33:54party wins
33:55Keralam elections,
33:56oh,
33:57we thank the
33:57electorate of Keralam
33:58for reposing
33:59their fate in us.
34:00When Congress
34:01wins Karnataka,
34:02Himachal Pradesh,
34:03Changasi,
34:04the moment Congress
34:05loses Bengal,
34:06the moment Congress
34:07is wiped out
34:07in Maharashtra,
34:08Haryana,
34:09Delhi,
34:09Rahul Gandhi
34:10like a sore
34:11child who's
34:12lost his candy,
34:13starts crying.
34:15Aray,
34:15dekho,
34:16vote churi hoge,
34:17isliya komei
34:17mahar gaya.
34:18The Congress
34:18fails to realize
34:20Rahul Gandhi's
34:21umpteen
34:22resurrections
34:23are not
34:24resonating
34:25on the ground
34:25with the electorate.
34:27As Prime Minister
34:27Modi said,
34:28he is well past
34:30his expiry date,
34:31but the Congress
34:32continues to treat
34:33him as the next
34:33best thing
34:34after brown bread
34:35and spaghetti.
34:37Fair enough.
34:38Bhavya will respond
34:40to that,
34:40but the question
34:41that was put
34:41to you,
34:42both by Rajat
34:43and by Swati,
34:45you know,
34:45was about
34:46Samajwadi
34:46parties so close
34:47and internal
34:48differences within
34:49the BJP
34:50so close to
34:50elections.
34:51You know,
34:52after 10 years
34:53of being in
34:53power,
34:53this could be
34:54a double whammy
34:55for the BJP
34:56in 2027
34:57UP elections,
34:58ma'am?
34:59You know,
35:00both Rajat
35:00and Swati
35:02have a great
35:02pulse on,
35:04you know,
35:04the political
35:05landscape,
35:06but I agree
35:08to disagree
35:08with them.
35:09With no
35:10offense to Swati,
35:10I think even
35:11during the
35:122022 Uttar Pradesh
35:13assembly elections,
35:15she did not
35:15give the BJP
35:16even half a chance
35:17and she said
35:18Akhilesh Yadav
35:19would make a
35:20strong comeback
35:20and we know
35:21what happened.
35:22As far as
35:23sorting out
35:24internal differences
35:24go,
35:25I will just
35:26say this,
35:26BJP is a
35:27large organization
35:28but eventually
35:29when it comes
35:30down to the
35:31brass tacks,
35:32when push
35:33comes to shove,
35:34all heads
35:35come together,
35:36work together
35:37and I think
35:38we have
35:39amply proven
35:40that again
35:40and again
35:41and our
35:41track record
35:42speaks for
35:43itself.
35:44So like
35:44JP Naddar
35:45says,
35:45you know,
35:46Congress
35:46has neither
35:48need,
35:48nor
35:49need,
35:49nor
35:50need.
35:51BJP
35:51has
35:52need.
35:52And
35:53BJP
35:53has
35:54right.
35:55We have
35:55We have
35:55right.
35:56We have
35:56work.
35:57We have
35:58We have
35:58work.
35:59We have
36:00our
36:00organizational
36:00strength
36:01overcomes
36:02every other
36:03political
36:04difference
36:04that may
36:05be there
36:06or may
36:06not be
36:07there.
36:07fair enough.
36:08Bhavan Arsana
36:09Mahmurthy,
36:09respond to
36:10what's actually
36:11happening on
36:12ground,
36:12ma'am.
36:13Results show
36:13regional parties
36:14beat the
36:15Samajwadi party
36:16or even a
36:16newbie like
36:17Jan Suraj party
36:17or even the
36:18RJD,
36:19you know,
36:20they may be
36:20down,
36:21but they're
36:21not out.
36:22They're
36:22fighting.
36:23It's almost
36:23like trench
36:24warfare for
36:25every seat,
36:26but the
36:26Congress seems
36:26to be
36:27struggling
36:27in Karnataka
36:29and in
36:30Uttar Pradesh
36:30and in
36:31Bihar
36:31and in
36:32Maharashtra.
36:33Ma'am,
36:33is there
36:34merit that
36:35slowly
36:36Congress is
36:37losing ground,
36:38regional parties
36:39are still
36:40in the
36:40fight?
36:43Gaurav,
36:44I would
36:44like to
36:44first add
36:45to what
36:46the BJP
36:47spokesperson
36:47spoke.
36:48BJP
36:49has
36:50Gyanesh
36:50Kumar
36:51also.
36:52BJP
36:53has
36:54Ambani
36:55also.
36:55BJP
36:56has
36:57Adani
36:58also.
36:58Why did
36:59you forget
36:59that?
37:00Why did
37:01you forget
37:01that?
37:02That's
37:02exactly how
37:03you're
37:03winning
37:03elections.
37:04All
37:05right?
37:06BJP
37:06has
37:07Adani
37:08has
37:08BJP
37:09has
37:09Ambani
37:10has
37:10BJP
37:11has
37:11Gyanesh
37:12Kumar
37:12has
37:13That is
37:14the
37:14confidence
37:14with which
37:15you people
37:15are speaking.
37:17That is
37:17the confidence
37:18with which
37:18you said
37:19you can
37:19it will
37:20not be
37:20a challenge.
37:22Not
37:22because of
37:23your ideology.
37:24You
37:24pick up
37:25zero with
37:25ideology.
37:26Your ideology
37:27is communal
37:28which
37:29does not
37:30go with
37:31the value
37:31of India.
37:32One by one.
37:32All you have
37:34is Gyanesh
37:35Kumar,
37:35Adani
37:36and Ambani.
37:37That is the
37:38confidence
37:38you have
37:39in winning
37:40elections.
37:41Let's be
37:42honest.
37:44Okay.
37:44One by one.
37:45Let's be
37:45honest.
37:46Okay.
37:46Let me once again
37:47bring in Swati
37:48to move forward
37:49in this
37:51conversation.
37:52You know
37:52Swati
37:52political parties
37:53may have
37:54their political
37:54points.
37:55You know
37:55Bhavannar
37:56will say
37:57that BJP
37:58has Gyanesh
37:59Kumar,
37:59Adani,
38:00Ambani
38:00or whatever
38:01else and
38:01the BJP
38:03will say
38:03Congress
38:03has George
38:04Soros
38:04or whoever
38:04else.
38:05But the
38:06fact does
38:06remain
38:07look at
38:07the MLC.
38:09Okay.
38:10You know
38:10Maharashtra
38:11for example
38:12too.
38:13Pune division
38:13teacher seat.
38:14The Congress
38:15is losing a
38:15seat to the
38:16BJP.
38:16Regional parties
38:17are fighting.
38:18BJP is
38:19holding ground
38:20but Congress
38:21appears to be
38:21losing ground.
38:23Is that a
38:24conclusion or
38:25is that too
38:26much of a
38:26stretch to
38:27draw from
38:28these results?
38:30Well I
38:30mean Gaurav
38:31if you just
38:31look at the
38:33trends the
38:34election trends
38:35and who's won
38:36and who's lost
38:37clearly I
38:37mean if I
38:38can use a
38:39Hindi metaphor
38:39because all
38:42that the
38:42Congress does
38:42is make
38:43excuses for
38:44losing.
38:45Now we've
38:46just heard
38:46the Congress
38:47spokesperson
38:48talk about
38:49two industrialists
38:50and Gyanesh
38:51Kumar.
38:51Now as
38:52you said
38:53remember that
38:53Gyanesh Kumar
38:54was not there
38:54he's not
38:55been there
38:55for 12
38:56years.
38:57So you
38:57know you
38:58have to
38:58if there
39:00is vote
39:00theory there
39:01are clearly
39:01issues with
39:02the election
39:02commission.
39:03I mean
39:03nobody is
39:04denying the
39:04opacity
39:05the problems
39:06the fact that
39:07so many people
39:08are being
39:08disenfranchised
39:09but I mean
39:11all these
39:12problems I
39:13don't want to
39:13name former
39:14CECs and
39:15ECs who
39:16then became
39:16part of
39:16political
39:17parties so
39:18you can't
39:18say nobody
39:19can say our
39:19problem arose
39:20only in
39:212014.
39:22I agree.
39:22I can name
39:25MS Gill who
39:26became a
39:28minister but
39:29the fact is
39:29Gaurav that
39:30what we are
39:30discussing is
39:31the optics and
39:32how is the
39:33political party
39:34approaching it.
39:35Is that
39:35Congress the way
39:36they are protesting
39:36like I said on
39:37your show yesterday
39:38that this mock
39:39parliament and
39:41this mock
39:41impeachment is a
39:42juvenile idea.
39:44It's the kind of
39:44stuff that one
39:44used to do in
39:45college or the
39:46left.
39:46Why would that
39:46be a juvenile
39:47idea?
39:48You just
39:49juvenile madam
39:49because why
39:50I got run out of
39:51time 30 seconds
39:5230 seconds to
39:53both 30 seconds
39:5530 seconds
39:56okay Sanju
39:57Varma 30 seconds
39:58that's one of our
39:58ways of expressing
40:00our resistance
40:00that's one of a very
40:02creative way
40:03to show our
40:05resistance to the
40:05kind of
40:06mock impeachment is a
40:07creative way of
40:07showing resistance
40:08jubile.
40:10Okay Sanju
40:11Varma 30 seconds
40:1130 seconds
40:12just 30 seconds
40:14trying to
40:14impeach Gyanesh Kumar
40:16showing the
40:16public how it is
40:17done.
40:19You want to
40:19jubilize in that
40:20I don't see anything
40:21jubilize in that.
40:21That should be
40:22shown in parliament
40:23if you have the
40:24numbers show it
40:24in parliament.
40:25Parliament.
40:26We might not
40:27have the numbers
40:28but the
40:29public.
40:30So you know you
40:30won't have the
40:30numbers.
40:30Sanju Varma 30
40:31seconds.
40:32Sanju Varma 30
40:32seconds.
40:33Only Sanju
40:34Varma 30 seconds.
40:36Yes Sanju
40:37Varma complete your
40:37point.
40:38Gaurav I just
40:39want to say this
40:40to the congress
40:41party which says
40:41oh BJP
40:43has Gyanesh Kumar
40:44Congress has not
40:45been in power in
40:47Tripura since 1993
40:48in Bengal since
40:501977 in Sikkim
40:52since 1984 in
40:53Uttar Pradesh since
40:541989 in Bihar since
40:561990 in Gujarat
40:58and Odisha since
40:591995 in Nagaland
41:01since 2003 and in
41:02Tamil Nadu since
41:031967.
41:05So it's time for
41:05everyone to
41:06introspect.
41:07It's time for all
41:07political parties to
41:08introspect but we're
41:10entering a very
41:10interesting season.
41:12We're entering a very
41:13interesting political
41:14season.
41:14Rahul has been
41:15getting sore.
41:16Okay.
41:17Okay.
41:17Time up.
41:18Time up.
41:18Time up.
41:19Because it's a big
41:19story I'm going to
41:20on the other side of
41:21a quick break and
41:22that's election
41:22results in Israel.
41:23That's another
41:24amazing situation
41:25that's emerging in
41:26Israel.
41:27More than 77% votes
41:28counted.
41:29The situation right
41:30now and we'll tell
41:31you more on the
41:32other side.
41:32Is Benjamin
41:33Netanyahu likely to
41:34become Prime Minister
41:35once again?
41:36Likud party is
41:36leading with over
41:3854 seats.
41:39Eisenkot Gandhi's
41:41block is now at
41:4247.
41:43What will happen
41:44next?
41:44Details coming up.
41:45Stay with us.
41:52Welcome back.
41:53Israel's high stakes
41:53election is heading
41:54for a cliffhanger.
41:55Vote counting
41:56underway.
41:57No clear majority
41:58as of now.
41:59But Prime Minister
42:00Benjamin Netanyahu
42:01is doing much
42:02better than his
42:03block was expected
42:04to do.
42:05He had virtually
42:07not exactly written
42:09off but said he'll
42:10be down in the
42:1020s.
42:11He's up 54.
42:12Though it's down
42:1368 from last time.
42:15Gandhi-Eisenkot
42:16scam.
42:17Are they
42:18underperforming
42:19because they were
42:20predicted to do
42:20much better.
42:21They're at 47.
42:23More than 70%
42:24votes have been
42:25counted so far.
42:27Benjamin Netanyahu
42:28has said this is
42:29an election result
42:30for continuing
42:32their operations
42:33to sort out
42:34the problems
42:35the nation faces.
42:36Netanyahu's
42:37block is at 54.
42:38Eisenkot Gandhi's
42:39block is at 47.
42:41The Arab parties
42:42have done much
42:43better than expected.
42:4419, 19 seats.
42:46Now 61 is that
42:48magic figure in the
42:50120 member
42:51kineset of the
42:51Israeli parliament.
42:53Benjamin Netanyahu
42:54insists he's still
42:55waiting for the real
42:56results and wants
42:57a strong government.
42:59Eisenkot Gandhi
43:00meanwhile says
43:01Israelis have
43:02voted for change.
43:03He's pledged to
43:03work to replace
43:04Prime Minister
43:05Benjamin Netanyahu.
43:07The outcome could
43:08actually shape
43:08Israel's political
43:09future, its approach
43:10to conflict in
43:12West Asia, the
43:13policy in West
43:14Bank and ties
43:15with Washington
43:16D.C.
43:16The first election
43:17since the October
43:187, 2023
43:19terror attacks
43:20has now become
43:22a very crucial
43:23litmus test for
43:24Benjamin Netanyahu's
43:26leadership,
43:27coalition arithmetic
43:28and lots more.
43:29I quickly want to
43:31cut across and
43:32bring into this
43:32conversation India
43:34today's Pranayupadhyay,
43:35our man on
43:36Ground Zero.
43:37Also joining us on
43:39this special broadcast
43:40is David
43:42Matlin, an IDF
43:44reservist who is
43:45deployed on
43:45ground and David
43:46I see you, welcome
43:47back.
43:48It was great talking
43:49to you this morning
43:50but what's the current
43:51situation?
43:51Is the situation any
43:53different?
43:53Is the picture clearer
43:55now?
43:58Well, again, great to
43:59be back with you on
44:00your program and I
44:01just want to say I
44:01appreciate your
44:02coverage and the
44:03support of all your
44:04viewers across India.
44:06It's really important
44:07to us here in Israel,
44:08the friendship between
44:09our nations, so thank
44:10you.
44:11Apologize for the rough
44:12background again.
44:13As you mentioned, I'm in
44:14the IDF reserves right
44:15now, like tens of
44:16thousands of other
44:17Israelis in this
44:18election period, mobilized
44:19to bolster the security
44:21fronts, to try to
44:22maintain security amidst
44:23elections, no one wants
44:25any kind of security
44:26disruption to play a
44:29factor, you know, in
44:30the elections right now
44:31or in this climate of
44:32uncertainty and there
44:33are threats.
44:34So, yes, throughout the
44:35day, you know, you
44:36really highlight it and
44:37break it down well.
44:38The polls, you know,
44:39essentially were wrong.
44:40The predictions, once
44:42again, were not correct
44:44in how all the votes
44:45would go and at this
44:46point with most of the
44:47votes counted, it does
44:49appear that not much
44:51has moved in terms of
44:52these blocks that have
44:53been in place now for
44:54so many years in this
44:56country, nothing really
44:58moved.
44:58And so the country is
44:59sitting here looking at
45:00the situation, yes, with
45:01some votes still to be
45:02counted, primarily from
45:04the army, actually,
45:05people who are voting in
45:06the army, especially
45:07ballots that are set up.
45:09So, does it stay at 54
45:11and 47, David?
45:12They'd like to see
45:13Isaac Cote work with it.
45:14Yeah.
45:14Oh, absolutely.
45:15Does it stay at 54
45:16and 47?
45:17Is the picture likely to
45:18change?
45:19The official announcement,
45:20of course, happens around
45:21the 4th of October, am I
45:22there, right?
45:22So what happens between
45:23now and the 4th of
45:24October?
45:27Well, basically, they
45:28are counting the final
45:29votes here.
45:30There are still some,
45:32could be a couple
45:32hundred thousand votes
45:34that are still being
45:34final counted right now.
45:36There's ones that come
45:37from soldiers in the
45:38army, like myself, that
45:40are the last batch to
45:41be counted.
45:42Most of those are
45:43expected to go towards
45:44the Netanyahu block.
45:46Maybe not Netanyahu
45:47himself, but parties
45:48affiliated with him.
45:49So there could be a
45:50slight shift.
45:51And in this country,
45:52as you know, you
45:52know, the margins are
45:54small, especially right
45:55now with these numbers
45:56that are appearing.
45:58A few thousand votes can
45:59shape the entire outcome
46:00of this election still.
46:01So there's a margin here
46:03where people are still
46:03sitting on the edge of
46:04their seats somewhat to
46:05see if there's any last
46:06minute movement here in
46:08these coming days.
46:10Okay.
46:10Now, when you look at
46:11the situation on ground,
46:14will the election results
46:15either ways?
46:16You know, whether it's
46:17Benjamin Netanyahu or
46:19Eisencote Gandhi, does it
46:21impact the way Israel
46:23deals with either Hamas
46:25or Hezbollah or Iran?
46:30Well, that's a good
46:31question.
46:31It's the one we're really
46:32all asking ourselves.
46:34Outwardly, there's no
46:35great policy difference
46:36being proposed by either
46:38of these camps when it
46:38comes to the security
46:39fronts, the ones you
46:41mentioned, the most
46:41sensitive with Iran, with
46:43the Palestinians, of
46:44course, looking at
46:45Hezbollah.
46:45No one is really
46:46pitching a different
46:47way forward.
46:49Everyone's kind of
46:50talking tough, but at
46:51the same time, there's a
46:52track record here to
46:53look at.
46:54You know, Prime
46:54Minister Netanyahu has
46:55been in charge throughout
46:57these last three years.
46:58He's taken the tough
46:59positions.
46:59He's made those really
47:00difficult decisions
47:02required to go after
47:04the Ayatollah, to go
47:05after Nasrallah, these
47:06different really mega
47:08moves that he's
47:09overseen.
47:10There's a question
47:11about some of the
47:12Eisencote, Gandhi
47:13Eisencote and the
47:14opposition here or
47:15other figures who
47:16weren't in those
47:17intense pressure
47:18positions of these
47:19last three years.
47:20And quite honestly,
47:21especially when it
47:21comes to Gaza, Gandhi
47:22Eisencote was
47:23advocating a very
47:24different set of
47:24policies throughout
47:25the war.
47:26He wanted to make
47:27all sorts of smaller
47:27deals with Hamas.
47:29He was in favor of,
47:30he was against, you
47:31know, Netanyahu's
47:32push militarily, things
47:33that were happening
47:34that ultimately did
47:35lead to all the
47:36living hostages
47:37released.
47:37So there might be.
47:39People are left to
47:40wonder if a new
47:42such as Gandhi
47:42Eisencote in
47:43politics would have,
47:44you know, sort of
47:45say the guts to make
47:46those tough decisions.
47:47We're not sure.
47:48Fair enough.
47:49Fair enough.
47:50Let me also bring in
47:51India Today Group's
47:51Foreign Affairs
47:52editor, Geeta Mohan,
47:53who joins me now with
47:54more on this.
47:55Geeta, very confusing
47:57picture or is there a
47:58little more clarity
47:59now?
48:00I think the picture
48:02is getting clearer,
48:03like David said.
48:05Netanyahu does have a
48:06record, a track record
48:07when it comes to
48:08leading his country.
48:10And like we were
48:11discussing in the
48:11morning, and I see
48:12David has been with
48:13us through, as we
48:15were discussing in the
48:16morning, Gaurav,
48:17whether it's Eisencote
48:19or Netanyahu, the
48:21agenda for Israel and
48:22policies for Israel do
48:24not change.
48:25They are not vastly
48:26different.
48:27In fact, they're actually
48:28quite similar.
48:29It's only the means and
48:30methods and the way
48:30they're going to work
48:31and go about things
48:32could be a little
48:33different.
48:34I repeat and I'll
48:35continue to repeat
48:35myself on this one.
48:37The problem with, he
48:39has the numbers, he
48:40needs to cross the
48:40halfway mark.
48:41The problem over here
48:42is that should the
48:44Arab parties extend
48:45outside support to
48:47Eisencote, then it
48:49doesn't seem like
48:50Netanyahu then can
48:51form government.
48:52So, Matalyn, that's
48:53a very big point you
48:54brought.
48:55David Matalyn, tell
48:55me about the 19 seats
48:57that the Arab parties
48:58have got.
48:59And they've already
49:00pledged outside support
49:01to Eisencote.
49:02Whether he wants it or
49:03not is a different
49:03matter altogether.
49:04So, is that the big
49:06game changer in Israel
49:08now, the Arab parties?
49:14It's significant.
49:15It is significant.
49:16The voter turnout, again,
49:17across the country, from
49:18the Arab sector to
49:19everyone, really, was
49:20very hot.
49:21You know, it was
49:22something for the
49:22country as a whole to
49:24be so proud of right
49:24now.
49:25The over 80% turnout.
49:26And that is reflected
49:28in this good showing
49:30for all the Arab
49:31parties.
49:31Whether you have, you
49:33know, the block of
49:33them that are sitting
49:34together or the
49:35Ram party, the
49:35Islamist party, who
49:36had a really strong
49:37showing, they're
49:38looking at having
49:39seven seats in
49:39parliament right now,
49:40the Ram party.
49:41They're the interesting
49:42wild card in this one
49:43because the other
49:44Arab parties are really
49:45not going to sit with
49:47anyone in any
49:48realistic thing.
49:48They may, in some
49:50sort of fashion, be
49:50outside supporters of
49:52an Eisencote
49:52government.
49:53That's an unlikely
49:54scenario.
49:54The Ram party,
49:55though, is an
49:56interesting potential,
49:57let's call it
49:58kingmaker.
49:59And officially, from
50:00what we've heard from
50:00their party, both
50:01blocks have already
50:03reached out to the
50:04Ram party to try to
50:05hold discussions
50:06about a potential
50:07coalition.
50:09Fair enough.
50:10And that's a story
50:10we'll be tracking
50:11very, very closely.
50:12David Matlin and
50:13Geeta Mohan, many
50:15thanks for joining
50:16me.
50:16So it's going to be a
50:17long night in
50:18Israel.
50:19Perhaps tomorrow, the
50:20picture will be far
50:21more clearer.
50:22Now, the other big
50:25story on India
50:26first.
50:27Jio Platforms has
50:29made a blockbuster
50:30debut on the
50:31Dalal Street listing.
50:33at 1,358 rupees
50:35a share and
50:36delivering 21%
50:37returns to the
50:38IPO alloties in
50:40just five days.
50:42For the Ambani's,
50:44it is a moment of
50:45pride and what a
50:47milestone in
50:48Jio's journey.
50:50Mukesh Ambani, he
50:51was visibly moved
50:52as the Gen
50:54Next took charge
50:56today.
50:56Anand Tambani
50:57thanked Prime
50:58Minister Narendra
50:58Modi and pledged
51:00that they are
51:00committed to his
51:02dream to his
51:03mission of a
51:05Vikasit Bharat
51:06or a developed
51:07India.
51:09Maa ne kaha,
51:10Jio mere lal.
51:12Dadi ne kaha,
51:14Juk Juk Jio.
51:15Or dosto ne kaha,
51:16Jio yaar.
51:20Jio platforms
51:22stormed into the
51:23stock market
51:24listing at 1,358
51:27rupees a share,
51:28giving its IPO
51:29alloties a return
51:30of 21% on their
51:32investment in just
51:34five days.
51:35But the bigger story
51:37goes well beyond
51:38listing day gains.
51:40As India's biggest
51:41ever IPO gives the
51:43country a new
51:44corporate giant and
51:45pushes the
51:46reliance group past
51:47the Tata group to
51:49become India's most
51:50valuable conglomerate
51:51by combined market
51:53capitalization.
51:55For Jio, the
51:56listing is only the
51:57starting point for a
51:59much bigger ambition.
52:02But behind the
52:02numbers, the
52:03valuations and
52:05ambitious promises,
52:06there was another
52:07story unfolding at
52:08the NSE, one that
52:10was deeply personal.
52:13Jio ko Pure
52:15Dish ne
52:16Duaaye
52:17Dhi.
