A major political controversy has emerged as Karnataka Minister Satish Jarkiholi defended the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Karnataka, differing from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's nationwide stance. Jarkiholi maintained that the enumeration and deletion of nearly one crore voters in Karnataka was properly conducted, removing duplicate, relocated, and deceased electors. He stated that the party's objections were focused on states such as West Bengal, Maharashtra, and Bihar. In contrast, Rahul Gandhi has fiercely attacked the Election Commission and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the drive, alleging vote rigging and the disenfranchisement of genuine voters while demanding the exercise be halted. The divergence has triggered attacks from the Bharatiya Janata Party, which claimed Congress leaders are exposing Rahul Gandhi's claims. Meanwhile, other Congress leaders have questioned the Karnataka deletions, citing reports of living electors being erroneously marked as dead and reaffirming full backing for Rahul Gandhi's nationwide campaign.

00:00BJP mocks Rahul Gandhi over Satish Jarki Holi's SIR defense.
00:04BJP says all Congress leaders exposing Rahul Gandhi's claims.
00:08BJP also goes on to say that Rahul Gandhi opposing SIR is anti-democracy.
00:13And the DKS Minister Satish Jarki Holi, remember, has defended voter deletions in Karnataka.
00:19He's backed the SIR.
00:20And so there's a big showdown ahead of the Chief Election Commissioner's public impeachment by Congress Party.
00:27And just ahead of that, DKS Minister Satish Jarki Holi has backed the SIR in Karnataka, which is being opposed
00:36by Rahul Gandhi.
00:38Listen in.
01:09And my colleague Sagar Raj is now joining us on this story.
01:12Sagar, completely different views now emerging from within the Congress Party.
01:16On one hand, we have Rahul Gandhi who's been opposing SIR.
01:19He's been carrying out marches.
01:20He's been protesting against the SIR exercise.
01:23On the other hand, the Congress Minister Satish Jarki Holi in the DKS cabinet, he is backing the exercise in
01:31Karnataka, saying that this was perfectly done.
01:37Absolutely.
01:37He went on to say that because of the kind of protest and agitation that the Congress has carried out
01:42in the state of Karnataka,
01:43the SIR enumeration process was satisfactory, according to him.
01:47And he said that they don't have any issues when it comes to the SIR process in the state of
01:52Karnataka.
01:52And he has also categorically mentioned that they have problem with the SIR enumeration process, which has been done in
01:59West Bengal, Maharashtra and Bihar,
02:02where he says that there were manipulation which has been done and the voters, the genuine voters, have been deleted.
02:07And he claims that they were cautious in the state of Karnataka.
02:10And that is the reason the SIR process, which was close to one crore voters who have been deleted, it
02:17seemed to be fair for him.
02:20All right, Sergei, thank you for joining us with that context to the statement that has been made by Satish
02:26Jarki Holi.
02:26And now the attack also mounting by the BJP on the Congress Party on these differing views on SIR that
02:32are now emerging.
02:34So it's Congress versus Congress over the special intensive revision exercise.
02:38Karnataka, Minister Satish Jarki Holi, following the MLC poll results, has backed the SIR drive,
02:42saying that deceased, relocated and duplicate voters were correctly removed.
02:47He also said that the SIR was correctly conducted in Karnataka and should be carried out in the same way
02:53in other states.
02:54However, Rahul Gandhi has taken on the Election Commission over SIR.
02:57He has alleged that the Election Commission allowed vote rigging in Karnataka,
03:01claiming that SIR is destroying democracy and that genuine voters are being deleted.
03:06He has demanded that the SIR drive be halted and that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar be removed.
03:12The BJP has taken a jive at Rahul Gandhi over Jarki Holi's statement,
03:16saying that Congress leaders themselves are now exposing Rahul Gandhi over SIR.
03:49That's a very clear indication that this is a conspiracy theory that has its roots all over the place and
03:58it's centralized.
03:59And we will get to the bottom of it.
04:01So, I have information on what has happened in Vijaypur.
04:07More than 40-50 people who have declared dead and Form 7 were submitted.
04:12They have gone and complained to the DC over there, saying that we are not dead, we are alive.
04:18So, all these things have happened.
04:20So, I'm not sure what information Mr. Jarki Holi has,
04:23but I'm basing my statements on things that have happened in Kalburgi and elsewhere.
04:30Your cabinet colleague Mr. Satish Jarki Holi has said,
04:33SIR has done completely fine in Karnataka.
04:37It is reasonable for one crore deletion is what he says.
04:40While the Congress across India is saying SIR should be scrapped,
04:43while your cabinet colleague is saying Karnataka is fine.
04:46I really don't know in what contest he has told,
04:49but I cannot answer for what he has told.
04:52But definitely, I stand by Mr. Rawal Gandhiji, what he has been telling throughout India.
04:56And we have proved beyond the point.
04:59It was started by Mr. Rawal Gandhiji only a year back.
05:02Now, there is no doubt about it.
05:04SIR is a fraud.
05:05And because of that only, BJP is winning the elections.
05:07It is proved beyond the point, but they may not expect it.
05:10If a Satish Jarki Holi, and that includes Karnataka,
05:12So, if a Satish Jarki Holi currently comes out to say that,
05:17you know, our process, the SIR process that happened in Karnataka is absolutely fine,
05:22despite deletions being made a major issue about by the voters itself,
05:29that they were not correctly done.
05:31You have accepted it.
05:33But a Satish Jarki Holi conveniently says, no, our process was right.
05:36Do you think then he is batting a blind eye at the entirety of the allegations
05:42that his own party is now making?
05:46See, not really.
05:47You have to look at it from the point at which Jarki Holi is making the statement.
05:52The process is undertaken by the officers belonging to the state government,
05:57and they have rightly deleted so many, say, 90 lakh people from the electoral list.
06:01And if there are, like I repeat, if there are some stray cases where they have been wrongly deleted,
06:06you have the legal process on, and those people will be enrolled back.
06:10Yes, but he has to say there are no...
06:12Yes, I agree.
06:13And you are saying that yourself.
06:14Maybe.
06:15And he has to say, but there is nothing of the sort that's happened.
06:18When you're looking at 5-4 people, when you're looking at 5-4 applications,
06:21don't you think that you need to give some human error element of, say, 1.0.0.0.0.0
06:28.0?
06:29Everybody is so perfect, and you will never make a mistake?
06:33So, Mr. Prashant, my question here is, is it ignorance on his part,
06:37or is it a convenient batting of a blind eye to the entire situation?
06:43For Satish Jarki Holi.
06:45I don't think we should read too much into his statement.
06:47He has now agreed that SI has properly done, and it is for Rahul Gandhi and, say,
06:55the Karnataka CM here to look into an introspect to say,
06:57why they lost the elections here when they were held in ballot papers,
07:00instead of blaming the SR and the Election Commission.
