A political controversy has intensified over alterations made to voter enrolment processes, with questions raised regarding the actions of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The dispute centres on revisions to Form 6, with opposition leaders alleging that changes were introduced unilaterally and illegally, leading to the disenfranchisement of genuine electors, particularly from minority and marginalised communities. Scrutiny has also turned towards the handling of Form 7 and voter deletions across several constituencies, including Malleswaram in Karnataka, as well as areas in Haryana and Maharashtra. The opposition claims the voter revision exercise unfairly targets specific demographics to provide undue advantages to the ruling party, while election authorities and government officials maintain the process is intended solely to eliminate fraudulent and illegitimate entries. The debate highlights mounting tensions over transparency and institutional integrity within the electoral process.

00:00Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi is charging over the CEC Gyanesh Kumar issue.
00:07As the court has heard some of these plays, Rahul Gandhi has also charged reference to the Form 6,
00:13saying that unilaterally and illegally, Form 6 was changed by the CEC.
00:19This is just one more proof of him abusing his position to help the BJP.
00:23He and everyone else involved in the criminal assault and our democracy will be held accountable.
00:28This is as much about Form 6, they are also referring to Form 7.
00:33Remember in Karnataka, as the Chief Minister of Karnataka has spoken exclusively to India today about how Form 7 has
00:39become an issue,
00:39for example in areas like Malishwaram.
00:42And that is what is being said now by Rahul Gandhi, that Form 6 was changed illegally, unilaterally,
00:49and that has been able to eradicate some of the genuine voters as well.
00:52What the Congress party maintains is that this is an exercise against Muslims and Dalits.
00:59Minorities are being targeted via this SR exercise.
01:02Rahul Gautam, tracking all the latest on that.
01:04Rahul, tell me more about this.
01:06Why for Rahul Gandhi they believe that SR exercise and specifically the CEC remain the centre of the target?
01:12Well, you know, it seems that Congress has sent an opportunity as far as, you know, CEC is concerned and
01:19the Commission is concerned.
01:20And that's why we see Rahul Gandhi going hammer on tongs as far as CEC Gyanesh Kumar.
01:26And again, he has tweeted saying that Mr. Gyanesh Kumar has actually misled the nation by saying that the modification
01:34of the amendment that were made to Form 6
01:36were not approved by Supreme Court as it has been claimed earlier by the Election Commission in this case.
01:42In fact, Rahul Gandhi went on to accuse them of rigging and compromising the entire election process
01:48and said that the election commissioner and those people who are responsible for this will be taken to task once
01:56the government is going to be changed.
01:58So, in a way, it seems that, you know, the entire Congress ecosystem, you know, is attacking CEC Gyanesh Kumar
02:07very aggressively
02:07and they are only mounting the offense, the entire attack over this fact that he has lied to the nation,
02:15allegedly lied to the nation.
02:16And in fact, they have misled the nation by saying the Supreme Court actually approved and upheld the amendment and
02:23the modification.
02:24I have access to that document that basically has been posted by Rahul Gandhi.
02:29And he's quoting from the Election Commission, Election Commission website as well.
02:35So, this is the social media site X where Rahul Gandhi has posted this.
02:40This is the document.
02:41The declaration attached to Form 6 for SIR has been upheld by the Honorable Supreme Court for non-SIR period.
02:46Forms applicable as per rules will be used.
02:49So, he's saying that there were changes that were specifically done by the CEC and that is unacceptable.
02:56It was illegal and unilateral as well.
02:58That if it was upheld that the Form 6 will not be changed, not be used, why these changes have
03:04been brought in.
03:04Rahul, how do you think this is proceeding?
03:06Because just a short while ago, we also had the Form 7 issue from Karnataka.
03:10The Congress maintains this is an exercise against certain category of voters.
03:16Muslims, Dalits, minorities.
03:19The Election Commission, the BJP, the government, all of them are maintaining it's an exercise against fake voters.
03:24Voters who have been able to infiltrate from other countries even.
03:28How do you think it will be about Congress justifying their attack and not look like they're attacking an institution?
03:37That's the consistent stance of Congress Party.
03:40It's a deliberate attempt on the part of the Election Commission at the behest of the BJP to delete certain
03:46sections of voters.
03:49Particularly those who come from minority, those who come from weaker sections.
03:53And they believe that these people have been voting essentially for the Congress Party.
03:57But for some time, it seems that their voting rights are being smashed by Election Commission to give undue advantage
04:06to one political party.
04:07And they've been also giving some examples also.
04:12For example, Rahul Gandhi held three press conferences pertaining to Haryana, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
04:18And in fact, in Karnataka, we have seen that how Congress there, you know, is attacking the Election Commission saying
04:24that in one particular constituency,
04:27at the behest of the BJP MLA, Mr. Patil, you know, several Muslim voters, you know, were deleted and were
04:34taken off from the voters list.
04:36So, as far as Congress is concerned, they are saying that why anti-incompancy is not working against BJP chief
04:41ministers and BJP, you know, Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
04:47Rahul, keep tracking the latest on that because this is definitely now becoming not just a matter of credibility, but
04:53an issue with democracy.
04:54We have to really ensure that there cannot be mistrust, distrust over the Election Commission and ensure that it's all
05:00transparent.
05:01People know, voters know what is happening, what is real.
05:04And so that when we go to cast our vote, we must have complete faith in our democracy, in our
05:09voting process and in the Election Commission.
05:11Thank you very much. Rahul Gautam will be tracking all the latest on that.
