00:02I am your queen mother of shade, your bedazzling expert, and your eyewear guru, and I'm here
00:08today with Refinery29 to show you guys how you can embellish some eyewear to wear every
00:13day.
00:16So I have a line of high-end eyewear called Amour Air, and it's really popular amongst
00:21the pop star set like Beyonce, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna.
00:25It's very over the top and very extravagant, which isn't necessarily for everybody, so
00:30I wanted to come to Refinery29 today to show you how to embellish your eyewear in a way
00:35that's much more subtle and definitely much more acceptable for the everyday.
00:38What you'll need is a pair of eyewear, some embellishment, I've brought along four different
00:44kinds of flowers, some crystals, I've brought two different kinds in black and in silver,
00:50two different types of glue, E6000 and Gemtech, a chopstick, toothpicks, and some beeswax.
00:57So for the first part of this, we're going to use the larger flower embellishments and
01:02E6000.
01:03I'm going to put a little bit of this glue on my finger.
01:05I'm going to sort of coat it over the corners of the frame, which is where we're going to
01:10be doing our embellishment.
01:12And then after you do that, you're going to set the frame aside and you're going to put
01:19a little bit of glue on the backs of the larger flowers.
01:24So now that you've put your glue on the frame and on the flowers and they've set for all
01:29of 30 seconds, you want to take the largest flower and put it in the corner and then press
01:36it down so it's nice and secure.
01:37Take your second largest flower and put it next to that flower, the large flower, one
01:46going above the frame and one going down.
01:49Same thing with the third flower and so on and so forth until you run out of flowers.
01:55So for this next part, I'm going to show you how to actually be dazzle.
01:59And for this, you need two things really.
02:02You need a chopstick and you need a little bit of beeswax.
02:04So you're going to want to break a little chunk of beeswax off of this giant nugget.
02:10Roll it around in your palm until it gets warm and malleable and then you're going to just
02:15sort of mush it into a little ball and then shove that ball on the end of your chopstick
02:21and make it into a fine point.
02:24So now you're going to take your crystals and you're going to pour a little bit into the
02:30top of each canister so that you'll be able to work with them.
02:36Then you're going to take your gem tack, which is really the best glue for doing any sort
02:42of pave, specifically with crystal work on a flat surface.
02:46You're going to take your gem tack and you're going to squeeze a little bit onto a post-it
02:52note.
02:52So now what you're going to do is you're going to take your toothpick and you're going
02:56to use this as if it's a paint brush.
02:58You're going to sort of get a little bit on the edge of your toothpick and you're going
03:02to just stipple a little bit, nothing too fancy, where you want to lay down your crystals.
03:10So now you're going to take your chopstick with beeswax and the beeswax really acts as
03:16a magnet with these crystals.
03:17It picks them up really easily.
03:18So you're going to take the crystals that you're working with, I'm going to do the silver
03:22ones first and then the black ones, and it literally just picks up the crystal.
03:27So you're going to put it there and then, and now onto the black.
03:43And it just really effortlessly picks them up and then the glue just sort of sucks it
03:49all in.
03:51So your new eyewear is now done.
03:54And it's super cute, I'm not going to lie.
03:56I know these look really dainty, but I promise if you let them sit for 24 hours they will
04:01be secure as anything.
04:03The gems don't fall off, the flowers won't fall off, you can throw them into your purse.
04:07You won't have to worry if somebody tries to steal them off your head and they fall on
04:09the ground.
