00:09Today I'm facing my fears and I'm trying out a nude matte lip.
00:13So a matte nude lip is something that's terrifying you right now. What is it that you find so scary?
00:20I feel like I have a really hard time finding something that matches my skin complexion
00:25and then on top of that most of the time it seems like it washes me out.
00:28Well, women of all skin tones can feel washed out in a nude lip, especially if you're used to seeing
00:33color there.
00:34You've got a beautiful natural color on your lip.
00:36And a lot of women of color struggle with finding the right shade of nude and I'm going to help
00:43you do that.
00:43So my first trick with a nude lip is a lip primer that has a color corrective property
00:49just to neutralize out the pink that comes through and you can even use your finger.
00:55Step two, lip pencil.
00:58We want to use something that's close to your own lip shade or skin shade to still give us some
01:03definition.
01:04Sketching up towards the center so we don't have a hard stop line.
01:09Step three, choose your shade.
01:11I'm using a matte nude lip pencil and I'm just applying it the same way you would a lipstick.
01:15And I love this shade with your skin tone.
01:19Now the texture is a matte texture but it's not going to dry you out.
01:24And the secret with a matte is to start in the center of the lip and then sheer it out.

01:39And my last trick, monochromatic always works.
01:41So if you're feeling washed out, take the same color that you're using on your lip and just bring it
01:46right up onto the cheek.
01:48And that bit of color is going to make everything feel beautifully blended and stop you from looking washed out.
