00:04My name is Uzumaki Cepeda. I'm a textile artist and my room's name is Teenage Bedroom.
00:13I definitely feel like art is a tool of connection. Whatever you create in this
00:20human experience, I feel like that's important. I use the textile faux fur to
00:28represent something soft and I feel like every human associates like a good memory
00:33with it, I hope. Everything I have in this room is things that I wish I had when I
00:41was younger. I grew up in the Bronx, New York with a single mother taking care of
00:46me and my two brothers. We lived in a small apartment and shit was crazy.
00:55You know, having that Nintendo, I wish I always had one. My brothers had one but
01:00they never let me freaking play it. Shout out to y'all. I feel like there's not
01:07enough safe space for women so I feel like I had to make this in order to keep
01:13pushing that message forward, putting that activism through my art. When people come
01:20into this room, I hope they feel however they want to feel. Every human is
01:25different and I don't know how this is gonna touch every individual but I hope
01:30that everyone feels safe. It's all about inclusivity anyways, so it's like not only
01:37women but everybody. Like no matter where you're from or what you believe in, you
01:41know. I believe art is therapy. No matter what you do, you should be able to express yourself.
