00:00So a huge part of my job is actually being in front of the camera.
00:05And I've struggled a lot with deciding whether or not I need to beat my face
00:10or whether I should come on barefaced.
00:13I wanted to just play in makeup and fashion and change my outfit ten times a day.
00:17And my parents hated it. They were like, why are you like this?
00:20When I got to college, I was like ready to go.
00:22I walked into a Sephora and literally I had a full beat, obviously.
00:26And this woman who worked there was like, do you want a job?
00:31Literally within a week, I think I started working there.
00:34When I was younger, if I would try to, hey mom, can I wear mascara?
00:37Hey mom, can I wear eyeliner?
00:39She would tell me I'm too young.
00:40So I very much saw makeup as an adult thing to do.
00:43I remember being like two years old, having like a bottle in one hand and like lipstick in the other.
00:48I always felt like putting on makeup was wrong because nobody around me wore makeup.
00:52I remember I treated myself by wearing eyeliner on Fridays in college.
00:58I was like, oh, it's a Friday. Let me put some eyeliner on.
01:00Like that was a big deal for me.
01:02I would wake up at 5 a.m. and beat the hell out of my face and then get on
01:07the bus at 6 a.m.
01:09Prom season came around.
01:10I was like, listen, being the businesswoman that I am, I'm gonna, I'm gonna, you know, capitalize on this.
01:17So I started freelancing. Like that was like my first taste of like having my own little business.
01:23When I have makeup on, I feel bomb.
01:25I look good. I feel super extra confident on top of the confidence that I already have.
01:30And that's why makeup is so much fun.
01:32That's what it's all about.
01:33Makeup is like a beautiful community of people who are just really creative and fun and individuals in their own
01:39way.
01:40And then they share that with each other. And it's really beautiful to see.
01:43If you want to wear makeup, then by all means wear it. If you don't want to wear makeup, then
01:48don't.
01:48If you're feeling pressured by friends or classmates, society, whomever it is, don't listen to them because at the end
01:54of the day, it's you and it is your face.
01:56Going bare face makes me feel liberated because I feel as though I'm really presenting my true and authentic self.
02:02Honestly, I feel so good with a bare face. It's my best version of myself.
02:06Just because I feel so free, I feel so comfortable, you know, self-care is very important.
02:12And that's part of my self-care routine, just taking it all off.
02:15So it may seem scary to walk out the house without anything on your face.
02:19You may feel as though everybody's looking at you. You may not feel your best. You may not feel that
02:23confident.
02:23But you can get through the day. I promise it is not the end of the world.
02:27Everything will be just fine.
02:29And then you're going to feel so much happier knowing that you are comfortable and confident in the face that
02:34you were given.
02:34Makeup makes me feel empowered, but I love my bare face too.
