Top knots are one of those tricky updos that are very much either a hit or miss. You don't want it to be too perfect, but you also don't want to look like you rolled out of bed with the same hair you went to sleep in the night before (even though you might've, no judgement). And, you know even if you nailed the ideal top knot one day, you probably won't be having the same luck the next time around. Because that's just how the beauty gods work, no one person can have two good hair days in a row.

00:03Soft topknot. Gorgeous Vanessa's sexy. Oh no, not sexy. If you want something soft,
00:10shit. Oh, God, shut up, Mark. What am I doing? Hi, I'm Mark Hill, and I'm here with the beautiful
00:20Vanessa. We're going to create a gorgeous, chic topknot for you today. We're going to
00:24start off with actually brushing through Vanessa's hair and getting rid of any tangles. And the
00:29first section we're going to take is through the top. What I'm going to do is I'm going
00:33to back brush the hair to start with, to put a foundation into the hair. So this looks
00:37a bit extreme. We'll build up from the root areas and wet the hair into about five sections,
00:44but we don't do the very bottom section. And the reason for that is we want to keep the
00:48back area very flat and smooth. Then we pick up all the hair in one. We lift it up and
00:53go
00:54all the way through with the fabulous finish spray. Literally use our fingers and just
00:59take any of those little raw edges just away. It doesn't matter if there's one or two little
01:03pieces falling down here. Very lightly brush over this top section, but as you can see,
01:08I'm almost stroking the hair to start with. That's just to get that lovely, sort of light finish,
01:14but not take away the foundation that we put in. The back is really, really important to keeping
01:19tight, but the position on the top is really important here. And it's almost got to be about
01:24one inch away from the front hair line. I'm going to take a bungee band, and I'm just going to
01:29literally wrap that round here. And then once we pin that in, we then very lightly just get the
01:35position right from the front. So if we want it in the middle or off to a side, we've got
01:40the choice,
01:41and then we pull that down here. That instantly now gives me this lovely fullness and this side of
01:47foundation in the hair. And I'm going to back brush this foundation in even more. And then using the
01:53Fabulous Finish Spray again, you can see now we've got this fantastic little pom-pom almost on the top
01:59area here. And what I'm going to do is simply just pick that hair up, and I'm going to twist
02:04this round.
02:05And if we want it tighter, we do it smaller. If we want it bigger, we just let it burn
02:10loose. As we twist that round,
02:11we simply just bring that around here. And then I can use the grips to secure that in around the
02:17back
02:18area here. And using the Work It Girl Spray, I can now start to hold that hair apart, very gently,
02:24just forming that shape exactly where we want it. So just to conclude on this fabulous, soft, beautiful,
02:31simple chignon, remember, the softer the look you want, the bigger the twist you do. The tighter the result,
02:38the smaller the twist you do. So keep it simple, keep it gorgeous, and keep it chic.
02:45God knows where that came from.
02:47Jesus, how about it!
