We love updos (we like to flash a little neck, no matter the season) and we're not sure if you've noticed, but we've really got a thing for braids. (Type "braid" in our search bar if you don't believe us.) So, when you put 'em together? It's a truly beautiful thing.

00:08Hi, I'm Tara from Refinery29, and I'm Michael Duingas, and today I'm going to teach you how
00:13to put your hair up in a fun, different way. You want to start this look by sectioning off
00:17a horseshoe shape at the top of your head, so just at your recession, all the way around
00:22through the crown of your head. You're going to start a French braid on the side of your
00:48head, and braid all the way back to the middle. Once you reach the middle of your head, set
00:52secure with an elastic, leaving the ends out. Once you've finished braiding the sides and
01:09the back, drop the top section down, and you want to lightly backcomb to get a little bit
01:14of volume, but keeping texture in the hair. Once backcombed, bring all the hair back to
01:22back into a very loose ponytail, combining it with your braids. Twist the remaining ponytail
01:31into a tight bun, and secure with a bob pin. Once you've finished with your bun, spray the
01:37top with hairspray. Place your fingers between your hair to create separation, and spray to
01:42create a PC effect. With a little bit of braiding and backcombing, you can put a modern twist
01:49on a shin yon.
