Everybody loves a good braid: They're easy to do, they look good on everyone, and they make you look like you spent more than 10 minutes doing your hair in the morning. But, for those who are tired of doing the same ol' crown braid every summer, there's the braided side-part. As seen on the gorgeous Emma Stone, this sneaky braid pulls double duty, keeping your hair out of your face and adding a little extra oomph to your 'do. To learn the secrets of this multitasking plait, we enlisted hairstylist Adam Maclay to teach us a fresh, new way to get our hair out of our faces. Watch the video as he shows our associate sales development manager Alexandra McGinn how to create a braid using just the fringe of her hair. It's a quick, easy alternative to more complex braided 'dos — and the only requirement is that you wear it proudly while all of your friends look on in envy.

00:03Never change.
00:07Never will.
00:08Okay.
00:14I love a good crown braid,
00:16but for summer, I'm interested in seeing a new way to switch it up.
00:19So I'm hoping that Adam can show me a fresh approach to braiding the front of my hair.
00:23Alright, so Alex, with this crown braid variation, we're thinking something in the fringe? Yeah, I think that would be
00:27great.
00:28Yeah, something that we can blend and work with what you have at the moment to give you a little
00:31variation
00:31so it's not just braided right against your scalp.
00:33That sounds super cool.
00:35Alright, well let's play.
00:36So what I'm going to do is take a subsection to just right in front of the ear.
00:40So we're just going to start right here at the front of the fringe.
00:42We're just going to be doing a standard three-part braid.
00:45And you'll take notice as I begin braiding, I'm pulling the braid away from her head rather than against her
00:50scalp.
00:50That way it creates more of a fringe effect.
00:52This braid's really great for a mid- to end-week look.
00:54It'll really help if your hair has previously gotten greasy throughout the week.
00:58What's really great about this look, again, is it gives you a couple of options.
01:01Leave this out in front with the remainder of your hair.
01:04You can tuck this behind your ear.
01:05You'll just want to secure the braid with an elastic at the end.
01:08If you have any flyaways that happen like this right here,
01:11you can just take a tail comb and tuck some of those hairs right back into the braid.
01:15So you can already begin to get the idea of how this fringe bang works for you.
01:18So with the remainder of her hair, I'm just going to come in with my flat eye and create some
01:21really beautiful texture.
01:23So Alex, as you can see, in like 10 minutes we managed to get an amazing fringe braid and this
01:28awesome texture.
01:29You ready to see yourself?
01:30I am ready.
01:31Whoa!
01:32You like?
01:32I am obsessed.
01:34So just remember when you're placing that braid to pull that away so that you do actually create a fringe
01:38and not something braided against your scalp.
01:40Put in some texture and you get this effortless boho chic.
01:433
01:43If you want to back that braid and i'll stay here.
