00:05Hey guys, I'm Tara from Refinery29.
00:08And I'm hair and makeup artist Bethany Brill.
00:10A smokey eye doesn't always have to be complicated.
00:12I'm going to show you my quick trick for pulling off this look with just two products.
00:17We're going to start our smokey eye look by mixing a couple products on our hands.
00:22We're going to take a primer, put a dab on our hand, and mix it with some eyeshadow.
00:27We're using a dark brown here, but you can use your own favorite color.
00:32Maybe a plum or a navy.
00:34Mixing the primer and the eyeshadow will give a creamy texture,
00:38so we can smooth it on our eye with our fingertip.
00:42Start on the lash line and pat into the crease.
00:46Continue blending and patting the look until you get a nice shape.
00:51Once you get a basic smokey shape,
00:54you can build the color by adding more on top.
00:59Focus on the outside corner of the eye.
01:03You need to move fairly quickly so that the cream doesn't dry.
01:12Add a little cream to the outside corner of the bottom eye line.
01:16Just focus the darkness on the outside corner.
01:22Diffuse the shadow on the edges by patting.
01:29After the shadow dries, use a brush to diffuse any hard edges.
01:36And just finish with a coat of mascara.
01:40The great thing about using a primer to do a smokey eye is you get double duty.
01:45Lasting power and a really soft, diffuse, creamy look.
01:48Mixed.
