00:00After cyclone Arnab Andhra is bracing for another cyclone, the second storm to hit Andhra Pradesh's coastline in a matter
00:08of one week.
00:09If Arnab was a severe cyclonic storm, this current cyclone called Murasu is set to hit later tonight and is
00:18a severe cyclonic storm.
00:20So it's not as powerful, as intense as Arnab, but irrespective of the fact that we're seeing two cyclones in
00:26a matter of one week
00:27really tells you that Andhra has to be on full alert.
00:30Now, which parts of Andhra Pradesh will it hit?
00:33It's expected to make landfall at Nellor, which is further south from Arnab,
00:38which means that there's parts of south Andhra, coastal Andhra, yes, and also north Tamil Nadu that will be affected.
00:44You see these images from Chennai, where the seas are already getting rough.
00:48There's heavy rain already in Chennai.
00:51This cyclone will be crossing the coast between Nellor and Narsapuram.
00:55Between midnight and the early hours of tomorrow, Andhra Pradesh is on high alert.
01:01But this particular cyclone is called Murasu.
01:04It's a Tamil name and it's actually a name that's been given this time by India.
01:09Arnab was by Bangladesh, Murasu by India.
01:11What does it mean?
01:12It's essentially a drum.
01:13Murasu means drum, a large drum.
01:15It's a traditional one used during wars that's used to alert people about imminent danger.
01:20I'm sure you can picture it in your head.
01:22So, it's a very apt name for a storm that's headed towards Andhra as well as Tamil Nadu.
01:30Severe cyclonic storm.
01:31Murasu is going to make a landfall and that is why you see that the sea is completely unrest at
01:36this particular location.
01:37We are at Nellor and this is a kind of like the sea, the strength over here.
01:41This is why a kind of like warning has been given to the fishermen not to venture into the sea.
01:47For the day, holiday has been declared for three districts which includes Chennai, Chengalpatu and Thiruvallur, all northern parts of
01:54Tamil Nadu and close to Andhra Pradesh.
01:56Cyclone Murasu, severe cyclone Murasu is expected to make a landfall between Ongol and Nellor.
02:02This is the same place earlier when there was cyclonic storm on up, this particular sea.
02:08Apparently, water actually reached the road and we can still see how like, you know, the kind of like unrest
02:13in this particular beach over here, this shore over here.
02:17All kind of preparations are also happening at Andhra Pradesh to make sure.
02:20Less than 12 hours to go before the impact and landfall for cyclone Murasu will be hitting across the southern
02:27eastern coastline of Andhra Pradesh.
02:30We are currently in Sri Potty Sri Ramloo, Nellor district where in the next 12 hours, the cyclone Murasu will
02:38be making its landfall south of Bapatla and close to over 50 kilometers right from where we are currently at
02:46in Nellor.
02:47The sea, if you can see, has already turned rough in several areas and especially with the landfall that is
02:54impending in the next couple of hours.
02:57The Nellor district administration as well as several other districts have been put on high alert for the next 24
03:04to 48 hours.
03:05Just two days back, Andhra Pradesh braced the brunt of severe cyclonic storm, cyclone Arnab, which had affected right from
03:15Konasima district well up to the coastal belts and the coastline of Vishaka Patnam and Srika Kulam.
03:24Now, the second cyclone, which is a consecutive cyclone that has now occurred right down south in the coastal region
03:32of Andhra Pradesh, will be affecting various districts right from Nellor well up to Bapatla, Ungol and Narsapuram as well.
03:42So, the impact already being felt, as you can see there from those ground reports, let me just give you
03:47a live tracker right now of where cyclone Murasu currently is.
03:51This is the Andhra coast, right below Nellor is Tamil Nadu, so North Tamil Nadu also will be hit.
03:56This is the entire system and you can see it moving closer and closer, which is why wind speeds have
04:01already picked up.
04:02What we're showing you right now is the wind system, because with the cyclone, it's the wind speeds that actually
04:07pick up and cause the maximum damage.
04:08In this particular case, it's expected to hit a maximum of 120 kilometers per hour.
04:13Remember, Arnab was about 150 kilometers per hour, so what's the difference there?
04:17Which is why it's expected that this cyclone won't create as much damage.
04:21But the fact that this is the second cyclone to hit Andhra is what's worrying.
04:24If cyclone Arnab hit above, this is more south, it's going to hit the southern part of Andhra, which means
04:30Nellor and Ongol will feel the brunt of the cyclone.
04:34You see these bands, the eye of the storm will hit closer to midnight at about 11.30 and that's
04:40when the maximum brunt of that cyclone will be felt.
04:43We're going to continue getting you those live images, tracker of the movement of cyclone Murasu as well.
04:50It's headed closer and closer to the coast.
04:52Our reporters are on ground, they'll get you those updates.
