00:00Early on in your career, you sold home security, ADT?
00:03I was door-to-door.
00:04I didn't want to do it.
00:05That was it.
00:06That and Cutco were my two things.
00:08So if you were to go back now with what you've learned in life,
00:11would you be like Salesman of the Year at ADT?
00:14Oh, yeah.
00:16Well, that's the thing.
00:17Thank goodness it's now defunct to this program probably.
00:20But like, I remember putting on like the sort of the,
00:24what is that, the reflective vest thing.
00:25And we would drive around in this white, unmarked van.
00:30We would get the police called on us, by the way.
00:32And I had this script.
00:34It was like, hey, we're working with your local, I'm with ADT.
00:37I'm with ADT.
00:39And we're working with your local police department.
00:41We weren't working with this.
00:44And like, there was this whole script,
00:46which was like basically the other,
00:48the sort of the dark side of this thing,
00:50where it was like, you know, we've noticed some break-ins,
00:53uptake in break-ins.
00:53We used fear, again, that emotion,
00:56fear in order to help people understand
00:59why it is that they needed home security.
01:01We knew nothing about the local crime statistics.
01:04And more often than not,
01:05I remember one time we got the police called on us
01:07and my manager was like,
01:08if the police get called on you, just scatter.
01:11I was running just like cockroaches in the light.
01:15I was running through the woods at one point.
01:18Oh, my God.
01:19Remember to run serpentine.
01:20To run serpentine.
01:22It sounds like a high school keg party.
01:24It was.
01:24Scatter.
01:25Yeah, because they didn't want to pay the funds.
01:26I was running through the woods at one point.
01:28I was running through the woods at one point.
01:29I was running through the woods at one point.
01:30I was running through the woods at one point.
01:30I was running through the woods at one point.
01:31I was running through the woods at one point.
01:31I was running through the woods at one point.
