00:05fundraiser for an organization that she started almost 30 years ago wow um the organization is
00:10called shine and while it's a local organization i know that there are many like it both on local
00:16and national levels that are worthy recipients of your time talent and treasure and i'm going to
00:22tell you about my time that i got to spend this past sunday night with shine after i show you
00:28what maria did for me yesterday when i went to the salon so you know that i started chemo about
00:36a
00:36month ago right and a little more than a month ago now um and so my hair started falling out
00:41so i got
00:41a really short buzz cut because some of it was still hanging in there it's funny because we held on
00:46to
00:47it as long as we could but the only hairs that were left were gray gray hair i'll tell you
00:51what man they
00:53just they just they just they don't want to color for you they don't want to they don't want to
00:57leave
00:57you when it's time to go you know my gray spot in the back of my head oh yeah it
01:01stays with you it
01:03stays with you so um i've had it because all that's left is very thin gray hair and i was
01:08like this makes
01:08me look like i have cancer and honestly that's just not my style so um i'm wearing a hood right
01:13now for

01:44don't know why anyone has hair this is amazing i'm so excited and i mean it helps that i was
01:49blessed with a really well-shaped head yes i was just gonna say that i'm so scared of what my

01:55would look like because i feel like i've got bumps and bruises and back roads looking i do have one
02:00little cyst over here kind of like the one on donnie's back but my on my head that's been covered
02:04by my hairline thank you so we're gonna go and have them removed together because i'm not keeping
02:09this there you go um but i i do want to tell you a little bit so as you're looking
02:13at my beautiful
02:14bald head and i did get some wigs but i'll share those with you later this week okay because i'm
02:18gonna come in
02:18and let you guys see them in person um but i just want to tell you you know we we
02:24just finished um
02:26breast cancer awareness month and a lot of people throw their pink on and they're like we are in
02:31support of people who have breast cancer that's great that's great like those of us that have it
02:36love that you're acknowledging it but it takes more than that to really make a difference okay and
02:41organizations like shine like um oh gosh there are just so many for her i mean another great one
02:48like susan g coleman yeah there are so so many of them um so i i just want to tell
02:55you what supporting
02:56organizations like this do right because shine is an organization that does wigs for cancer patients
03:02um they they make them feel beautiful again and and and that means that you're supporting a mom like me
03:07who's trying to get through chemo and still get to all of her kids games right i'm trying to do
03:13it all
03:13and i can do it because of the support from organizations like this you're making sure that
03:18a woman whose body has gone through an unrecognizable transformation can feel like a woman again
03:28and you're giving women their shine back so that's what it is to offer your time your talent your
03:36treasure to organizations that give back to people who have lost so much because of this disease and
03:44as you guys know i believe everything happens for a reason and i've told you from the get-go even
03:49my
03:49cancer i believe that this happened for a reason this is not what i had in mind for this chapter
03:54of my
03:54life cancer changed my story but it does not get to write the ending yes hell no i will shine
