00:00What did you take away from the Bears?
00:01I mean, the Bears go into one of the loudest environments,
00:04one of the toughest environments to play in all of football.
00:06I don't care what the record says.
00:08If you go into Seattle, it's tough to play there.
00:10And the Bears just had their way, essentially, with that Seahawks team.
00:14What did you take away from that?
00:16Because obviously we're both very in on Chicago.
00:19But for them to do that on a national stage was impressive.
00:22So when you don't take the opening kickoff
00:25because the Bears didn't get the opening kickoff,
00:26and then on top of that, when you get the ball,
00:28you hit them with, I think it was a six- or seven-minute drive
00:31to open the game, and you punctuate that with a touchdown,
00:35it took the air out of that building for about, I would say,
00:3910 real-life minutes.
00:41Like, it kind of went silent in there after that touchdown.
00:44And so I thought what the Bears did in adding Simmons
00:47and his influence on the defense immediately now means
00:51you can get there with four now.
00:53Because Montez Sweat was finally playing like somebody
00:55who was actually on PEDs, boy,
00:57because he was coming off that line
00:59and he was getting after Sam Darnold.
01:01But most of his sacks were taken away
01:02because of penalties in the secondary.
01:05But Montez Sweat played a better game than Simmons,
01:08but Simmons' impact was felt immediately
01:11when he just took Sam Darnold right here.
01:14One hand and ragdolled him to the ground.
01:16That set the tone for the rest of the night
01:19because it looked like the Seahawks' offensive line
01:21had been moved around because they acquired Nelson,
01:23and you could see that.
01:25They kind of really didn't know who was doing what.
01:27The Bears knew who were doing what
01:29because it was much simpler to be on the D-line than the O-line.
01:31And they just got after him, man.
01:33And so I thought the story of the game for me
01:35as the person who's been watching the Bears
01:36for 30-odd years
01:39was the defensive impact immediately that Simmons made.
01:44Because you knew they could score.
01:46You knew this offense was dynamic.
01:47You know their coach knows what's placed to call.
01:49Well, Dennis Allen now has something in his toolbox
01:53that if he can get there with four,
01:56what they can do on the back end of this defense
01:58when they get Kobe Bryant back
01:59is going to be phenomenal.
02:02And also last night they were missing
02:03what has become their second,
02:05their best corner in Muhammad, who's a rookie.
02:08And they still dominated them defensively.
02:11Yeah, and you look at this Bears defense.
02:14They held Seattle to 252 total yards,
02:1781 rushing, 1 of 11 on third down.
02:21Montez Sweat, like you said, had a sack.
02:23But Jeffrey Simmons, I mean, a sack on the opening drive,
02:26six tackles, three pressures.
02:28And Ben Johnson, he called his impact profound.
02:31And I think that's a great way to put it
02:33because it really was.
02:35And Seattle had gone 30 straight games, everybody,
02:39without losing by more than four points.
02:42That was their fourth longest in the Super Bowl era.
02:44And the Bears just went in there and kind of dismantled them.
02:47Seattle, they've lost three of four now.
02:49And Caleb Williams, I mean, you know,
02:52you could talk about DeAndre Swinton.
02:54His three touchdowns.
02:55But so do you think that Caleb is the leading MVP candidate now?
02:59Because everyone was saying Brock Purdy before.
03:01Because what's going to happen,
03:02the momentum of what he's doing.
03:05Again, Chicago is a staple in the NFL.
03:09Don't get me wrong, San Francisco is too.
03:11But to have the number one pick in the NFL draft,
03:15meeting the potential with the head coach,
03:18there's a story.
03:19What's happening with the 49ers because of their injuries,
03:21they've been doing that for years.
03:23We all know the new man wins the award.
03:25And this guy is coming onto the scene.
03:28And they haven't lost as long as he's played.
03:30Every game he's played, they've won.
03:32And so I think that's what people are,
03:34when they talk about MVP votes,
03:35that's what they're holding it up to
03:36when they do it against Brock Purdy.
