00:00you mentioned haunting your place has had some activity hasn't it oh yeah yeah we just had some
00:05the other day it's cool i kind of dig it the idea of it is scary but then when it
00:09happens you're just
00:09like you're not even sure that it really happened sometimes you're just like i don't maybe some
00:13shit just fell over so i don't know rock metal frog and everything in between welcome to this
00:20episode of talking rock with meltdown don't forget to follow the audio only talking rock podcast on
00:26all podcast platforms and now it's time for today's conversation here's meltdown well good to
00:33see you brother how's things going with you guys no complaints man things have been very busy and
00:38been very cool yeah getting busier too with uh the european dates uh coming up you guys have been gone
00:43for a couple weeks yeah yeah how is that to play because you guys have some shows coming up like
00:49a
00:49day or two and i i mean with like the jet lag and stuff how is that uh you know
00:54i'm so used to it
00:56i don't even care anymore we've gotten used to it when we go to europe we just know you're not
01:00going to get any sleep so you're just you just have already um submitted to the fact that you're
01:05just going to be tired yeah whatever it doesn't matter it's so much fun over there it does who
01:10cares yeah and so uh then you're going to be coming back you got a show on the 21st to
01:15celebrate
01:15the record at sanctuary so tell me about that yeah we're fired up we we've been trying to get
01:21back to doing some like hometown shows so every year we've been able to make we we managed to
01:26squeeze out like one or two michigan shows a year for the past couple years so it's been really cool
01:32to be able to play for you know friends around here and family and stuff you actually did never
01:37get to see us so it's pretty cool yeah now for people that don't know so the the band is
01:42from
01:42detroit everyone in the band is from the motor city from the southeast michigan area
01:47pretty much so our drummer is from toledo which is close um are the original guys were from the
01:55area but they they've uh kind of all retired over the years so we got uh our one guitar player
02:00lives
02:00in iowa and the other one lives out in grand rapids so not not too bad okay gotcha and now
02:06you and
02:06candace are pretty much like you guys are the ogs of the band correct yeah we're the only originals
02:11left standing their drummer's been around for over 20 years but uh yeah it's just me and her
02:17so i was going to ask you what is your relationship like with uh with candace over all these years
02:22i
02:22mean obviously you stood on the stage next to her many times recorded with her and all that kind of
02:26stuff what kind of relationship do you guys have uh it's funny being in a band is like you have
02:32very
02:33intense and strong bonds with people but we also don't see them that much it's super weird like i
02:40see her literally maybe three or four times a year probably but whenever you see each other it's just
02:46it's like you just picked up right where you left off so there's not really any like does it feel
02:52like
02:52there's a gap in your lives or anything but you just don't really like you're not really a part of
02:57your day-to-day interactions i guess um very good relationship and we've we enjoy being on tour together
03:04and the time that we spend together as a band everybody we we're we have a good outfit of people
03:09who
03:09really like to be around each other and and uh make music and and do shows and stuff so it's
03:15very
03:15cool yeah she's um she's a true badass yeah absolutely that's before she was in the band i
03:22mean that's kind of how she got in so yeah yeah what do you mean you only see uh see
03:28the guys three
03:28or four times a year i mean you're on tour with them sometimes you're recording that kind of stuff
03:32so you must see more than that every once in a while well i mean besides i mean you go
03:35on tour
03:36and then that's one time you know okay i got you so yeah i mean i count it i count
03:40that as as uh as
03:41one time every time we get on tour and stuff so whether it's for a day or six months it's
03:46one time
03:47yeah i don't we just we went and filmed some videos in texas uh last month and we were together
03:52for about
03:5336 hours okay so we all flew down to texas and did some video stuff and then flew back home
03:59now which
04:00videos did you shoot down there did you you got three of them out right now or just the two
04:03we got three out a fourth one getting ready to come out and we filmed uh three videos down there
04:09the ascent agency and um and true to true till death is that right or no yeah correct yeah yeah
04:16well let's talk about the record um because it's been a minute since you guys have put a record out
04:21so what was the delay it has uh so we're kind of stubborn and uh i don't know when we
04:28feel like we
04:28have to do something we're not going to do it ever so it kind of we kind of waited until
04:33we felt like
04:33we really wanted to do it it wasn't it wasn't because we were trying to meet a deadline or
04:39anything so it was kind of i it just felt like it was right on our own terms and kind
04:42of i don't
04:44just felt like a good time to do it everybody had some time to dedicate to get involved in some
04:48stuff
04:49and it was cool so now i just talked with somebody the other day some of the songs on the
04:53new zebra
04:54record which i don't know if you're familiar with them or not were written back in the 90s so
04:58how how old are some of the songs on this album uh i we wrote them all within the last
05:03probably two
05:04years okay all right so about about three years ago we decided we were like all right we're gonna put
05:10effort into doing a new record like we want everybody was in a good headspace um
05:16time wise everybody felt like they had enough time to you know contribute and do stuff so we started
05:21probably about about two years ago we probably actually started writing stuff there might be
05:26some riffs that were sitting in the riff vault that might be older than that but as far as like
05:30putting them down i think that was probably about when we started yeah as james headfield once told
05:35me the uh the what do you call it the uh the riff junkyard yeah so yeah i think every
05:41musician has
05:42that like right if it's just how it works so especially nowadays with uh phones and whatnot oh it's so
05:48easy
05:48any you you can have you don't even have to be at home i can be out and have some
05:53stupid riff idea
05:54and i've got probably three dozen videos on my phone of me going you know just doing like stupid shit
06:02but then i'll come home and turn that into something and then i'll record a better version of that later
06:06but there's some stupid shit that we do for sure i can imagine so when you guys went to record
06:12this
06:12record uh did you have the songs pretty much like kind of demoed out and ready to go yeah we
06:18actually demoed between i think we had four of us writing so between the four of us we demoed like
06:2732 songs or something so then as we got closer to the studio we started picking out you know scrapping
06:34stuff and picking out the things that we thought were worth um the the most worth putting effort into
06:40i think so and then by the time we got there we had i think 16 songs and then we
06:47ended up scrapping
06:48one of them as we were working on it just didn't feel like it was going anywhere and had plenty
06:53of
06:53stuff that was in far better condition that we just stuck with and we didn't think we were even going
06:58to finish all 15 to be honest but it went so good with some of the stuff it really it
07:03was so smooth that
07:04we just had all this time and uh it just worked out well so we ended up doing 15 so
07:09yeah no i'd
07:10imagine that you're probably not you guys are probably kind of band where you can go into a
07:14studio and be in there for three or four months and work on stuff so that's why you probably gotta
07:18get in there and it's all ready to go and you guys get in there and start recording and bust
07:21it out
07:22pretty much we left it a little bit loose on purpose so that when we got in with kurt uh
07:26who produced it
07:27with us that we had a little bit of room and mostly mental capacity honestly to to be able to
07:34listen
07:35to an outside perspective and possibly changing some stuff and like you know maybe working out
07:39some things that could be a little stronger you know getting some extra ears on it kind of thing
07:43because it it's stupid but it matters like when you get you know you get uh you get kind of
07:47focused
07:48in one direction and then it takes somebody else from the outside to be like hey this is you're
07:53you're trailing off a little bit here or something or so we left it intentionally a little loose so
07:59that we could mess with that while we were there and hopefully no one get butthurt about things being
08:04changed and you know things like that or you to the point where you just want to win the argument
08:08regardless if it's the right choice you know what i mean so to try to not have that mind frame
08:13when we
08:14went in was was very important to us and very intentional so it worked out well and did you see
08:19the
08:19latest uh spinal tap too no i haven't seen it yet i want to see it um i don't sit
08:25down to be honest
08:26that much i don't watch a lot of tv or movies so i haven't it's on my list i have
08:30a mental inventory
08:31of things i want to watch someday so maybe i'll watch it yeah there's this if you get a chance
08:36while
08:37you're flying you should watch it but there's this scene where um derek smalls and christopher guest
08:42are trying to pitch a song to michael mckeehan and he's not really buying it and paul mccartney agrees with
08:48derek and and uh and and um and christopher s and and michael mckeehan says we'll take that into
08:54consideration you need a guy like that right yeah that's that's pretty much it you're just like
09:01you're more inclined to listen to somebody who's outside the circle for some reason i don't know i
09:06just feel like it's just a little they're not personally invested in stuff like we are so it just
09:11there it feels like their opinion has a little bit more weight yeah for sure yeah that makes complete
09:17sense obviously yeah and of course you know like you said that guy's also getting paid to do that too
09:23yeah and he's also done a lot more records that like you know if if you're lucky you you do
09:29maybe
09:29you know five or six records in your career i think this is probably the 12th record that i got
09:35to play
09:35on like from some other bands and stuff but this dude's done hundreds of records you know what i mean
09:39he's had his hands on all kinds of stuff so i feel like i'm more inclined to listen to what
09:43he has to
09:44say you know than somebody else who's like played on two records so this record's called a system
09:49error humanity so tell me about that uh it's it's it was uh it was one of candris's contributions and
09:59it was it was her idea with some stuff and it was just it seemed really cool and very fitting
10:04to the
10:04whole um persona of the record and just everything that it's just it's just about and with you know how
10:11everybody lives these days you know and what we live in it just it seemed very fitting
10:18so when she when she had brought that up i we i can't i think it was pretty unanimous everybody
10:23was
10:23just like yeah that's a winner right there for sure yeah it sounds cool and then then you get randy
10:27blithe to play on it uh more than once though right what did he what did he uh contribute uh
10:33he did some
10:34vocal production with candace and just helped like really get vocals in the pocket on things and with a
10:40little bit of writing and then uh he ended up singing on a song as well which was super cool
10:45which we did not expect or have any i mean obviously it would have been welcome regardless but
10:50he used he started kind of talking about like hey i might i kind of i think i kind of
10:54feeling this i
10:55kind of want to jump in and we were like absolutely like why why are you even asking but so
11:01it happened
11:02very naturally it was cool it wasn't like any kind of forced thing we were like oh we're gonna try
11:06to
11:06get this guy to sing on our record or something like that it just kind of happened and it was
11:09awesome there was an amazing day at the studio it was so much fun and where did you record this
11:15at
11:16at god city in salem mass oh in salem there's a studio in salem mass i mean i loved i
11:22was just
11:22there last year i love that place yeah it's it's awesome it's kind of a little hidden gem it's this
11:27real
11:29in nondescript building doesn't even have any signs or nothing it's right downtown you wouldn't
11:33even know that you're walking past it but there's been some crazy records recorded there so well you
11:38know the same thing happens here with uh pearl sound and rush belt and stuff you walk right by him
11:43yeah you don't even know i remember purple from when i was a kid like there was always like rumors
11:47like oh that building's you know crazy because there's nothing it's just that it was a gray building
11:52when i was a kid just a gray brick no no windows or signs you know and we're like oh
11:57well they do crazy
11:58stuff in there or whatever then you find out oh it's there's a recording studio you know but you
12:02never know what's going on and then you know now you can now there's information out there you can
12:06find all kinds of shit out but yeah that's crazy so for like 30 years we're like looking at that
12:11building like what's going on there now now why did you guys pick that studio to record at and that
12:16why didn't you stay like a local with some of the stuff here um we wanted to try something different
12:21our last couple records we did with uh ben sheagle in cleveland area and he's awesome we
12:27we loved him his studio is great um we just wanted to do something different and just kind of feel
12:33like
12:34i don't know the amount of effort we were putting into this record that we we felt like it would
12:39be
12:39cool to really just put as much effort as we could so we we just found somewhere different someone that
12:44we really like we like his recordings a lot um we wanted to capture kind of a specific vibe
12:50of how the the record we wanted it to be so we felt like he was going to be kind
12:55of a good
12:55a good guy for that um and he didn't disappoint it was it was great and where'd you guys stay
13:01at when
13:02you were out there did you stay at the hawthorne please tell me you stayed there no we actually
13:05stayed at the studio there's an apartment above the studio and we stayed there the whole time it
13:11was great wait and there was like multiple snowstorms while we were out there and we didn't even have to
13:15leave we just would walk downstairs to go to the studio so it didn't really matter what was happening
13:18outside we were just locked in so when did you record there it was like february okay it was
13:25like three weeks in february i think and did you take in all the uh all the sights and sounds
13:30of
13:30salem while you were there when you weren't recording not really we went out for a couple
13:34little walks explored a little bit it was so cold when we were there it was like they had a
13:40crazy cold
13:40snap and like literally like over a foot of snow fell like two different times while we were there
13:45so we didn't really do a whole lot we were going out for some food and stuff we walked around
13:50and
13:51there was a little like the little downtown strip that has all the the shops you know the little
13:55tourist trappy area we walked through there just to see it and uh that was kind of it other than
14:00that
14:00it was pretty much work i mean we were in the studio he started at 10 we were in the
14:05studio 10 to 6
14:06every day and then from 6 to probably 11 we were upstairs in the apartment on the computer um working
14:14on like additional pre-production stuff and getting stuff ready for the next day so it was it was it
14:20was
14:20very fun but it was pretty much nothing but business honestly yeah and randy's from that area right so he
14:27he was able to uh just kind of just pop in uh he's from he's in richmond virginia oh that's
14:33right
14:33he is yeah you're right yep so he flew in stayed for like five or six days and he uh
14:38he stayed at a
14:40cool little um hotel that was right down the street some little haunted place and it was it was just
14:46it
14:46was like two blocks away so he would just walk over every day and we would cook dinner and stuff
14:50dustin
14:51our drummer is a legitimate chef like an amazing cook so we just bought a shitload of groceries
14:57and he just cooked for us every day and uh randy come over and we would just hang out and
15:01have
15:02dinner and then get on a computer and write you know work on lyrics and and tuning up songs every
15:07night after the studio yeah i just saw him on the big screen there for that uh back to the
15:11beginning
15:11concert yeah yeah so really cool that's right he's from richmond yeah as as is that a whole band that's
15:17right i'm thinking there's a lot of uh there's some bands that are up and coming from that area like
15:21you know ice nine kills and that kind of thing there's uh there's some bands it's funny i just talked
15:26to
15:26alice cooper about this last week about how it's kind of wild how detroit and boston kind of mirror
15:31each other with all the music that's come out of here yeah yeah i mean all the way back to
15:36like
15:3670s and stuff there's lots of great bands coming out of both towns yeah for sure so well the new
15:41record drops on november 13 system error humanity on napalm records uh once again uh did did you said
15:49that you guys were kind of taking your time on it but are they are they whispering in your ear
15:52a little
15:55not at all man we we we were nervous that they would even want to do it because there was
16:01such a
16:01gap it kind of felt like they probably had written us off by then so kind of one of the
16:08deciding
16:08factors was we got to the point where we want to do a record regardless if napalm doesn't want to
16:14put
16:14it out we don't care we'll find someone else to put it out we'll put it out ourselves if we
16:18have to
16:18like we we really wanted to do a record which i think is part of the part of the reason
16:25it went
16:26so well is that everybody really wanted to do this it was it wasn't like someone's asking us so
16:30the label said they were they would be interested they wanted to hear some demos so we did a song
16:36just just kind of roughly you know did something sent it to them and they said absolutely we would
16:40love to put this out and so then we started you know just moving forward and you know they want
16:46to i think they always want to know like where are you going to go what do you want who
16:49you want to
16:49work with do all this stuff and they don't really have a say in it but they want to know
16:52you know
16:53what i mean so we told them what we were planning on doing once they told us you know we
16:56want to
16:56work with kurt blue they were like yeah okay so that's cool that got your back for sure and um
17:04so yeah
17:05like i said the record comes out on november 13th i want to give you a little bit of a
17:08chance to uh to
17:09plug your other side gig as well uh your tattoo shop in uh plymouth how's it going out there yeah
17:14oh it's going
17:15great man it's it's almost uh we're coming up close to our 12th year uh being open there and uh
17:22it's been awesome it's i can't even we've got a great bunch of people working with us and it's super
17:28fun and uh there's it's it's it's the exact place that i hoped it would be when we open it
17:35up like it's
17:35turned out to be exactly how i kind of dreamed it would be you know i mean like i want
17:40like a place
17:40where everybody's happy nobody's coming in mopey and like bummed out to be there and like everybody's
17:45got a good attitude all the time and there's never any crap to deal with you know dealing with
17:49anybody's personal garbage or anything like that people just just want to show up and only have to
17:55worry about making good tattoos there's nothing else to worry about when you're there it's awesome
18:00now your tattoos are fantastic and i'm not just saying that because you're sitting here but i you know
18:04i check out instagram and the whole thing and of course i've been your shop before but uh
18:08what um you know like uh you know our friend bob tyrell he's like a black and gray kind of
18:12tattoo
18:12what is like your thing or are you just all over the place no i pretty much have kind of
18:18kind of
18:19settled into doing a lot of black and gray realism um that's just what i just find fun i do
18:25some color
18:26stuff too which i i like the variety of doing some different stuff every once in a while but black
18:30and
18:30gray just feels more home to me if that makes sense it just matches more like my art style like
18:36when i was a kid doing art i always loved doing pencil stuff very similar to bob bob's he's always
18:41when he does his drawings they're usually pencil stuff and like it just feels like it's just the
18:46right kind of comfortable you know i don't know it just feels good like i that and that's the style
18:52i tattoo is most similar to that i suppose you'd say so yeah have you tattooed any of the guys
18:57in the band
18:58yeah i tattooed candace a long time ago i tattooed dustin a long time ago and actually kyle our our
19:04guitar player from grand rapids i met him through tattooing him so he was a client actually first and
19:10i did uh some big big arm stuff on so i saw him multiple times we got to spend some
19:14time with him
19:15and uh he's a great dude and that's kind of what what what drew me to to him for the
19:21band stuff is
19:21that somebody that you don't mind spending a bunch of time in a van with you know what i mean
19:25yeah
19:26because that's important because if you don't if you can't stand somebody personally it's hard to
19:30tour with him for sure we've had a few run-ins with people over the years maybe not necessarily
19:35in our band but other people that we've toured with and it's hard to spend like that much time
19:38with somebody if you don't truly enjoy their company um so i met kyle through tattooing him
19:45and i was like this this is a great dude like i love this dude and then it came we
19:48came up to
19:48needing somebody to fill in for some stuff and i knew he had a band and he'd show me some
19:53of his
19:53stuff and i looked it up he plays in like a techie death metal band but really solid player so
19:59i hit
19:59him up i was like dude you're interested maybe filling in and do this tour thing and he was like
20:03absolutely so we did that and then everybody met him and like yeah this dude's awesome like this
20:07actually he's actually a very good fit for for what we have going on and then it just slowly after
20:12sort of using him like um have on a couple tours we needed some fill-in stuff he it just
20:18kind of
20:18turned into a permanent position yeah you know i've talked about this with numerous musicians and
20:23for for people that go to the show every day or you know whatever at night and then go home
20:28and
20:28go to bed in their own you know in their own bed it's like you guys are going to the
20:32next town you
20:32guys have to live together so it's like that's that's probably not not even half the deal it's
20:36probably more than half of the deal isn't it absolutely yeah it's and i think it shows when
20:43bands have a good relationship on stage as well like they look like they have fun like they're enjoying
20:48each other i've seen plenty of bands that like especially we do these big festivals and stuff where
20:53there's bands where you know that four out of the five members are just higher on dudes that
20:57are just playing you know for the one original member guy you know they hire stuff and they just
21:02look like they're faking it like they look like they're having like an okay time but they don't
21:06feel it doesn't seem like they're uh there's like a team up there you know and it just seems like
21:11guys
21:11are just doing a job sort of that happens to be a cool job so that's fun but it's not
21:16like a thing like
21:17when you see bands that are like they're into it and like dudes that like hang out or even like
21:22like
21:22bands of what they grew up together and like that kind of stuff like they just look like they're
21:26having more fun and i think it i think it resonates with audiences and i think that people can see
21:30it
21:31so yeah yeah i'm sure you see a lot of this where uh the bands will come in and maybe
21:36we'll just say
21:36for the sake of the argument the uh the singer comes in later or something yeah yeah there's a lot
21:43of
21:43that uh i see a lot of which is really baffling to me is i see bands come off stage
21:48and then they're
21:49mad like they just lost the game or something like like they're like chucking and they're like
21:54they're mad and i'm like what is going on you just played a show in front of 25 000 people
21:59that are losing their mind and you're mad like you might need to rethink your a little bit like
22:04there's no way you should be mad you should be having having a blast we'll come off the stage
22:09when we fucking blow it like someone will just completely blow it in a song and we're just
22:14laughing at each other like it's it doesn't have to be that crazy i don't know why people get so
22:18wound
22:19up yeah and uh getting back to your uh your to your tattoo shop now i was there a couple
22:24years ago you
22:24were nice enough to show me around and whatnot and um and you told me that there you mentioned haunting
22:29and haunted a haunted place that uh randy was you know i'm into that all that stuff and yeah your
22:34place
22:34has had some some some activity has it hasn't it oh yeah yeah we just had some uh the other
22:40day you
22:41did yeah yeah i was i gotta hear it i worked on halloween i came in for for like i
22:48usually don't
22:48work on saturdays but i came in on saturday for a special client kind of thing and it was just
22:53me and
22:53him in the shop and we were closed on halloween because most people had kids and stuff so we just
22:57we just had it closed so they can hang out with their families and everything so we're in there and
23:01my
23:01room is upstairs and there's nothing on um and i heard first i heard like a little like a thump
23:08but
23:08it sounded like a uh it sounded like a magazine like when you throw a magazine down on a table
23:13kind
23:13of thing and i was like oh that was weird you know they could have been anything whatever and then
23:18uh
23:19i'm we're going about tattooing and then i hear it sounded like keys rattling or like like a dog collar
23:26and it was downstairs like directly below like where my room is and i was like i heard that for
23:32sure and it was two times like two little like jingle sounds and i was like oh there's
23:36that something and the building that we're in used to be a pet grooming business at one point
23:40so we would see like little shadows and stuff and we would always make jokes and just say that it
23:45was
23:45like a uh like a ghost of like a dog that like that happened to have you know expired while
23:52i was
23:52getting a bath or something so i don't know that that was but we've seen all kinds of stuff we
23:58have
23:58lights that like kind of come back on you turn them off and they pop back on you know when
24:02you're out
24:02out in the you're in the parking lot and you look up and the lights back on and in the
24:06room and weird
24:07stuff footsteps a lot of footsteps like never really physically seen something move but like there's like
24:15uh one of the artists the other day had something where it sounded like a book hit the ground or
24:20something and he couldn't figure out what it was and then he went upstairs in the office which is
24:23two floors above where he was at and there was a book like laying in the middle of the floor
24:28of
24:28the room just weird weird stuff you know and it's it's cool i kind of dig it you know like
24:33it's not
24:33really i don't know it's not really scary the idea of it is scary but then when it happens you're
24:38just
24:38like you're not even sure that it really happened sometimes you're just like i don't know it's just
24:43maybe some shit just fell over but then you're like i mean it did just fall over so i don't
24:47know
24:47i'll have to get back up and see your place by the way for the people that don't know it's
24:51uh
24:51it's kind of right across from that i was that place called aqua right and and yeah at uh main
24:56street and lily right right there yep and then when you go over to europe and stuff for these uh
25:00tour
25:00dates uh does it kind of run itself you guys a manager or whatever takes care of everything
25:04i have a business partner as well so he's he doesn't really travel that much so he's usually there
25:10um we have a good a good staff there everybody knows what they should be doing like there's not
25:16really a whole lot that needs to be done um as far as like day-to-day management kind of
25:22thing
25:23you really just as long as you know if you have people that know what their business is supposed
25:27to be like it's not really an issue so this is not too bad i'm always available on the phone
25:32if needed
25:32anyway but yeah so if somebody were to ask you like like myself for example if i were to ask
25:38you
25:39would you would you would you rather tattoo or play in the band what what do you say
25:43so that's been the uh that's been the the dilemma in my whole career we've had some opportunities in
25:51like the early mid 2000s we were doing the band full time and that was like being being out of
25:58town
25:59collectively eight months out of the year kind of thing and uh i managed to keep tattooing through
26:05all that i had a couple times where i had to get somebody fill in for me for a tour
26:08because i had like
26:09uh you know a child close nearing you know being born and stuff like that i was like i can't
26:16i can't be
26:17gone right now like this is it's a little too close you know so yeah i had some situations where
26:21i had to do stuff like that um i always kind of wonder like what would i rather do and
26:26i really
26:27like doing both of them so much i don't feel like i'm willing to kind of bend and give up
26:31either one of
26:32them well it's it's they're both different they're both great in completely different ways it's weird
26:40like the the music stuff is you get to do all this great stuff with a group of great people
26:46and it's it's a collective thing and then tattoo and i get to do all this great stuff but it's
26:50just
26:50me so then there's kind of i'm the only one in the driver's seat with the band you know there's
26:54there's compromising and things like that um which is fine when everybody has the same goal you know
27:01and they're they're all kind of moving towards a common direction um but it could also you know if
27:07sometimes it's not like that and then it can be rough the the tattooing is just me like i just
27:12i'm kind of the boss of what i'm doing so other than the client's ideas so it's there's there's
27:17pros and cons to both but i like both of them just equally literally i can't i couldn't i could
27:22never
27:22just pick one so all right final question here for you and like i said the record comes out on
27:26november 13th we'll make sure to give that a good plug system era humanity and this shows uh november
27:3121st at sanctuary in detroit so final thing here for you aaron uh who's who are some of the bigger
27:37celebrities or rock stars that you've had a chance to tattoo uh man i don't really think
27:45i've had any like real celebrities i've tattooed a couple athletes and stuff over the years a couple
27:51musicians but nobody like huge i tattooed a couple guys from atreyu um back when we were on oz fest
27:57in
27:57like 2006 um a couple guys from some other bands a guy from on earth i tattooed um
28:05i don't know really i don't really run in with a lot of that stuff it's weird i just kind
28:10of
28:11just kind of got my own little little crew of people that like to work with me and i don't
28:16really uh i don't really get to do a lot of that stuff i just i was just curious because
28:20i mean being
28:20in this in this world that you are you know bob bob's tattooed so many rock stars it's unbelievable
28:25you know it's completely the other end of the spectrum he tattoos like only rock stars
28:31that's just so many cool people which is great um i don't know i don't know if i have the
28:36energy to do
28:37that kind of stuff because that involves a lot of like just jumping whenever someone says they want
28:42something i have had a few run-ins with some pro athletes that i won't mention because they were
28:46fucking assholes that uh man they they expect like when they call like you're just on it you know what
28:54i
28:54mean like they they wanted like right away and fortunately for me my career has gone very well
29:00and i tend to be booked up maybe six months eight months in advance most of the time i carry
29:05a pretty
29:05good wait list kind of just regularly and uh they when they come to town like they want to get
29:11tattooed
29:11like the next day i had a guy who wanted a sleeve done he was going to be in town
29:15for a week and he
29:16wanted me to do his whole sleeve in one week while he was in town because he was from here
29:20but he was he's
29:21on some you know sport team guy and uh i was like dude i can't like i'm sorry like i'm
29:28not going to
29:28displace a week worth of clients to tattoo this dude he got real mad he literally was like upset
29:33and i was like sorry man like i feel like i don't want to tell you no but i can't
29:37i can't accommodate
29:38that like that's not fair to my clients man i've got clients who've been waiting months to get in
29:43and i can't just put them aside because i got some famous dude who wants
29:50well being a somewhat professional athlete myself i kind of understand because sometimes
29:55like when you're tattooing and stuff you know and you got to wrap it up in that and then when
29:59you're
29:59playing sports you're sweating you got your gear on you got to wait for that stuff to be somewhat
30:02healed i suppose before you put your stuff back on right yeah gross for sure like we tell people
30:07to stay out of the gym for like stay out of the gym for like a good week after you
30:11get tattooed at
30:11least just to make sure that's healed up because there's you know i mean there's there's gross stuff you
30:16know when people sweat you're sweating the worst stuff that's in your body out so that is now
30:21everywhere you know you go to a gym that no matter how clean the gym is that stuff everybody is
30:25sweat
30:25on everything yeah and so that gets in your tattoo and now you got a staph infection you got a
30:30problem
30:30so you can tell people just chill out for a little bit well i'm glad you guys didn't name your
30:35new
30:35record staph infection that would have been bad that would be for sure system error humanity november
30:4113th napalm records of course november 21st at uh sanctuary in detroit and uh aaron safe travels
