00:00On today's throwback, we're going to be having a look at the McFarland 3D movie poster of A Nightmare on
00:08Elm Street.
00:34This was definitely something I was looking forward to doing a throwback on.
00:37When I originally did the review of these 3D posters, actually some of the earlier reviews in general, I wasn't
00:44happy with how they turned out just due to the lighting and I guess just how I was reviewing back
00:50then, I did want to go back and reshoot the reviews to these.
00:55Don't worry, don't be alarmed my friends, those original reviews are still going to be there.
01:00I'm not going to get rid of them, so if you guys want to go back and compare, if you
01:04will, you can certainly do that.
01:08A short-lived run, a short-lived series by McFarland Toys, he did delve into these 3D posters.
01:16Certainly, I'm also going to get this opened up and show you guys a better view of these as well.
01:22I'll give you guys a little better detail than I was able to in the first review.
01:27Package is open-faced and open-window, so you can actually see the 3D poster inside.
01:33Down below, if I zoom in, zoom in, zoom in, zoom in, you can see the original movie poster that
01:40it is depicted from.
01:42As you can see, the Wes Craven's Nightmare on Elm Street.
01:45It says, if Nancy does not wake up screaming, she won't wake up at all.
01:50Well, there's unfortunately some cat hair on this packaging as well.
01:56But actually, after I shoot these reviews on these original, on the movie posters here,
02:03I think I'm probably going to actually put them up on my wall, put them out on display.
02:07These have actually just gone and stayed in their packaging, which is really a true crime.
02:11On the side, we've actually got, not the movie poster, but the actual artwork, or the actual sculpted 3D poster
02:22down below.
02:25So, now, I'm looking at this, and I see that this movie, this picture of the 3D poster, I think,
02:33looks a little nicer than the actual image we got.
02:35The actual work that we got.
02:38At any rate, on the back, we'll just zoom back here, pan the camera up.
02:44There's certainly going to be a lot to show here.
02:47It says, one, two, Freddy's coming for you.
02:50We've got the image of the 3D poster here.
02:53It says, welcome to the ultimate night terror.
02:55Freddy Krueger, the demon ghost of a child murderer, will haunt your dreams, and kill you if you don't wake
03:01up in time.
03:02The only solution for survival, don't go to sleep.
03:05Nancy Thomas and her friends on Elm Street learn this the hard way, as one by one, teenagers are found
03:10dead in their sleep.
03:11Gruesomely impaled by the knives, Freddy wields on his fingers.
03:15This fall, McFarlane Toys releases A Nightmare on Elm Street as it has never been seen before.
03:20Adding a whole new dimension to movie posters, McFarlane Pulp Culture Masterworks has created, in raised illustration, the classic poster
03:28from the film that introduced Freddy Krueger to the world.
03:31McFarlane Toys artists crafted the highly detailed poster using modern sculpting methods and the technique of forced perspective.
03:41And Nightmare on Elm Street comes to life in an 8.5 by 12.75 and 2 inch format that
03:47can be hung on the wall or displayed on a built-in easel stand as a tribute to one of
03:53the greatest slasher films ever made.
03:57And again, we've got the movie poster down below.
04:00Nightmare on Elm Street movie information released on November 9, 1984.
04:05A Nightmare on Elm Street was the first of nine movies to bring the terror of Freddy Krueger to the
04:09big screen.
04:10In Freddy's world, there is no such thing as a sweet dream.
04:13You can also go to spawn.com for more.
04:19So that is packaging, a very large package for an equally large 3D poster.
04:25What we're going to do is we're going to get this opened up.
04:27I'm going to show you guys some of the details that make up this poster and something I wasn't able
04:31to do the first review that I did of this.
04:34I'm going to give you guys a rating and thought of this poster.
04:38So there's more on the way, guys.
04:40Stay tuned.
04:42And so we've got the package opened up.
04:45And as you can see, first things first, probably the one thing that stands out to you right away is
04:49the 3D image of the sculpted Freddy gloves.
04:55The Freddy glove.
04:57Right down to the sheen of light extending out from one of the blades.
05:04There's a side view of it just to show you.
05:06This one area here, do be very careful that this doesn't bang.
05:11Certainly it's a very fragile plastic.
05:14And I'm not even going to play around with it too much.
05:16Because you know if I play around with it, something's definitely going to happen.
05:20Some of the interesting details to point out is some of the sculpt on the hair.
05:24The hair is very nice.
05:29Really, really, really nice.
05:33You've got Freddy's skull up at the top there.
05:39And I think the Nancy is really, really nice.
05:42Now I think, I'd almost think that the coloring is slightly off on her skin.
05:47It seems like it shouldn't be this shade of skin color.
05:53That being said though, it's still really, really nice.
05:56Down below, we've got the Wes Craven's A Nightmare on Elm Street.
06:00Which again, is also this raised lettering.
06:03Which is really nice.
06:05The sculpt on the sheets is fantastic.
06:09And down below, you can actually see, it's even got the poster cast list.
06:16Robert Shea Production, Wes Craven Film, Nightmare on Elm Street.
06:20Starring John Saxon, Renee Blakely, Heather Langlandkamp, Amanda Weiss, Nick Corey, Johnny Depp, Robert Unglin as Freddy Krueger.
06:29It's right down to the fact that it's got the restricted R rating.
06:34Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian.
06:39We've got New Line Cinema down there as well.
06:41Very, very neat.
06:43Definitely a nice display piece.
06:46To have this on a shelf, you can certainly take, it comes with two standees.
06:53You just have to clip them into place.
06:58Snap them into place, I should say.
07:02And let's see if we can get them in.
07:03Show you guys what it looks like.
07:05There we go, there's one.
07:06And get the other one in there.
07:12There we go, two.
07:14And like that, you've got yourself actually a standee, so you can stand it up.
07:19I'll just bring the camera down so you guys can actually see it.
07:23You can stand it up.
07:24Now, I am a bit concerned.
07:26The way that the standee works, or the way that the stand is now keeping it up,
07:31I'm a bit worried it seems like it wants to lean forward.
07:35It probably is just me.
07:36It's probably not the case at all.
07:39But I am a bit concerned that it seems like it wants to teeter a bit.
07:43I probably will not have it displayed on the stand, on the actual feet stand, stand feet.
07:54There is, however, a slot on the back.
07:57I'll just pan up to the camera here.
07:59Pardon my finger.
08:00There's actually a slot here where you can mount it to the wall with a thumbtack.
08:06Let's move it up a little further.
08:08A thumbtack or a screw.
08:09You can put that in there as well.
08:13I probably will have it displayed like that.
08:17That's just my matter of preference.
08:18Down below as well, you'll see 2006.
08:232006, made in China.
08:27Put the camera down a bit.
08:29And we'll turn it around.
08:32Final thoughts of this?
08:34Definitely a fantastic piece to have.
08:36I mean, if you...
08:37Obviously, if you're a Nightmare on Elm Street fan, I would hope that you already have this.
08:42If you weren't lucky enough to grab it, I would say try to find it on eBay.
08:47I honestly don't know how much this would cost now.
08:52But a beautiful showpiece.
08:55Something that you can put on the wall and look at from time to time.
09:00And definitely look at it and just admire, I think, every time you see it.
09:05I mean, I've looked at this several times.
09:08I'm now looking forward to actually putting this up on my wall so I can look at it.
09:11Now that I've got my own place.
09:14But a very, very fantastic piece.
09:17The only real disappointing aspect of it is the fact that McFarlane didn't continue the line.
09:24I think aside from...
09:25I think they did, what, seven posters?
09:30Counting the...
09:31I guess the...
09:34Oh, what's the name of the movie?
09:36It was such a bad movie, I don't even want to think about it.
09:41I can't even remember the name of it.
09:42It's going to come to me and it's probably for the best that I don't remember it.
09:45But there was only seven posters released.
09:48They did some album covers as well.
09:51But it would have been nice to have seen more horror movie releases.
09:55Halloween.
09:58Maybe even more Nightmare on Elm Street posters would have been nice too.
10:02This poster, this kind of 3D design, I think would have worked excellently with the Nightmare on Elm Street Part
10:093 Dream Warriors.
10:10With the claw and then have all the characters standing on each blade.
10:14I think would have looked fantastic.
10:16Rocky Horror Picture Show.
10:17That was the other poster.
10:19Totally didn't get that one.
10:21But the Nightmare on Elm Street poster, I'm going to give a solid 9.52.
10:27This is definitely something you want to pick up, guys.
10:29If you find it on eBay, if you find it for a cheap price on eBay, don't even hesitate.
10:34Do pick it up.
10:35Today's throwback, we were having a look at a fantastic sculpted piece.
10:40We were looking at the McFarlane Toys 3D poster of a Nightmare on Elm Street.
10:48Thank you guys for watching.
10:50Stay tuned for more throwbacks to come.
10:53And I will see you guys next time.
10:56Bye.
