The Mexican government's version of the events leading up to the enforced disappearance of the 43 Ayotzinapa students is increasingly under fire. The latest revelation published by the muckraking political magazine Proceso is that one of the 43 was an active duty soldier. The news comes on the heels of Proceso's ongoing investigation on government infiltration of the Ayotzinapa Teachers Training College, where the 43 were students. Although it does not necessarily follow that the student in question was an infiltrator, it nevertheless raises questions. Proceso had earlier disclosed, also in contrast to the official account, that the 43 students were not turned over by police officials to the Guerrerros Unidos drug cartel.
