00:00 You know, I love to be the bearer of good news, and I get to be exactly that for the
00:05 Northeast today.
00:06 Look, I might be a tad biased considering it's where I live, but it's going to be gorgeous.
00:11 Part of the reason why is the dew point temperatures remain awfully low, not just today, but for
00:16 a good portion of the week.
00:18 Why do we care about dew point temperatures?
00:19 Well, that's an indication of the moisture in the air, and when those temperatures are
00:23 low, indicated by the brown on your screen, that's when the air is not very humid.
00:28 In fact, it's going to feel relatively dry.
00:31 It's almost going to be a little more of that early fall feel rather than midsummer across
00:36 cities like Pittsburgh, Buffalo, back to New York, all the way up toward Portland, Maine.
00:42 Case in point here, look across I-95 today, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington,
00:47 D.C.
00:48 Temperatures in the 70s and 80s, plenty of sunshine, and again, humidity remains low,
00:53 especially for this time of year.
00:55 Get outside, enjoy every moment of that sunshine.
00:58 Even on Wednesday, temperatures remain quite comfortable, I would say a little below the
01:03 historical average highs for this time of year.
01:05 A good example would be Albany, 78 degrees on Wednesday afternoon, 74 in Boston, 80 degrees
01:11 in New York on Wednesday, 83 in Philly, and while it's relatively comfortable in the office,
01:15 Scranton, Pennsylvania looking at 79 degrees.
01:19 If I had to put an asterisk on this picture-perfect forecast, it would be right here.
01:24 We still have the smoke from the Canadian wildfires, and to be perfectly honest with
01:28 you folks, that's something we're going to be dealing with not just through the summer,
01:31 but really until we see those first snowflakes of the year helping to mitigate the issues
01:36 of those massive wildfires burning across the great white north.
01:39 Now, in terms of the smoke, it's not quite as intense as what we've seen so far with
01:44 the bouts of smoke in the past, but it is going to trickle in first to the upper Midwest
01:49 and then eventually into the Ohio Valley and northeast.
01:53 In cities like Columbus, Ohio, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, even into upstate New York,
01:57 cities like Buffalo, you can expect the sky to be a little milkier, a little hazier by
02:01 the time we get to Wednesday, but again, it's not quite as bad as what we've seen in the
02:05 past.
02:06 Just keep that in mind if you are part of a sensitive group, for example, those with
02:10 asthma or COPD.
02:11 By the end of the week, out with the sunshine, in with the rain.
02:15 As we move into Friday especially, some thunderstorms with some big downpours on the way.
02:21 Localized flash flooding is possible, especially into northern New England, and travel will
02:25 become a bit more difficult, but even after the rain moves out, there is some good news.
02:30 You can see more sunshine even in New York City by the time we get to Sunday.
