00:00 Yeah, I'm Marcia and I'm one of the hub volunteers running the hub shop in the afternoon on a Friday.
00:06 It started in lockdown, again by a group of volunteers in the village,
00:11 and it's set up to just support local businesses and to support locals and getting them fresh vegetables.
00:20 So it started as a bag of vegetables and fruit and it's grown from there.
00:25 It's progressed by more and more people are just really interested in buying locally.
00:31 So it's not just the fruit and veg bags now, it's dairy, it's cakes,
00:39 and we've got goat's milk soap and we have cards, an arm from Jane, and lots and lots of extra things.
00:49 Toilet rolls you can buy, ethically trading store cupboard ingredients and things like that.
00:55 So it's just developed into a full-blown shop in an afternoon as well.
00:59 It's, I'd say, probably mostly from within Mayhill Village,
01:03 but the more people are knowing about what we do here, then we get, again, it's mostly locals,
01:08 but from other villages as well, which is really nice. So people are coming from further afield.
01:12 Certainly the events have really kicked off since the end of Covid.
01:16 So it started with the veg bags and then it's grown into a bigger and bigger community project.
01:24 So there's often a different event going on on a Friday afternoon
01:27 and we have lots of workshops and arts and crafts events as well that people can book and come to.
01:35 It's kind of pulled lots of different facets of the community together.
01:40 We're growing the shop more and more.
01:42 So that's really where the future comes, is we want more and more people to appreciate what you can get on your doorstep.
01:51 And it's about the provenance of the food, so we try and support local food suppliers and arts and crafts suppliers.
01:58 So, yeah, so that's the future really, is creating more of a shop here.
02:05 Week by week we'll have more available to sell and to buy and that's where we're going.
