00:00 Hello there, hope you enjoyed your Saturday. It was a reasonably dry day for many of us,
00:05 away from a few pockets of drizzle and showers pushing their way into the far north of Scotland
00:09 as this earlier radar shows. A bit of mixed fortunes in terms of sunshine, quite widely
00:14 cloudy for some of us but reasonable sunshine for areas of eastern England. It's this mixture
00:18 of clearer breaks and cloud that we will retain throughout the evening and overnight as well.
00:23 Exactly which you see will determine how cold it does get for you. Those that have some
00:27 clearer breaks could see pockets of frost developing, some mist and fog patches as well.
00:32 But those of us that hold onto the cloud will probably see temperatures hold up just around
00:36 1 or 2 degrees Celsius. So not a widespread frost developing but certainly still a very
00:42 chilly night for many areas of the UK. We'll retain a reasonable amount of cloud across
00:47 Wales, central/southern England into Sunday as well. Again, could provide the odd spot
00:52 of drizzle and light rain. A few brighter breaks to watch out for during the day. Into
00:56 the afternoon we'll see some slightly more prolonged sunshine maybe for northern England
01:00 and then into Northern Ireland later on as well. For northern Scotland though, it's an
01:04 increasing risk of wintry showers streaming their way in from the north, falling as snow
01:09 even to lower levels. Combine that with some very strong winds across the north east, severe
01:15 gales for a time in Shetland. That does bring the risk of drifting snow. Some quite atrocious
01:20 conditions around on Sunday so do take care as there could be some disruption. We'll be
01:25 feeling very bitter in those strong winds as well. Temperatures across Scotland not
01:29 much higher than 2-3 degrees Celsius. Slightly less cold further towards the south. Temperatures
01:34 here around 6-8 degrees Celsius. But it's this cold air across northern Scotland that
01:41 is increasingly going to push its way southwards across the rest of the UK as we head into
01:45 the start of the new working week. This cold plunge of arctic air sweeping its way in from
01:50 the north providing a very cold start to Monday. That northerly wind though is actually going
01:56 to help clear out some of this cloud across Wales and England. So skies will be turning
02:00 clearer overnight, reasonably good conditions if you want to head out stargazing. But you
02:05 will also have to brave the cold if you're stepping outside. Widely frosty throughout
02:09 Sunday night into Monday morning and it does also bring the risk of icy stretches of where
02:13 those showers are pushing into the north across parts of Scotland but increasingly so into
02:18 Northern Ireland as well. Particularly County Derry, County Antrim will start to see those
02:23 snow showers arriving during the early hours of Monday morning. So many of us will have
02:28 to scrape the car windscreens as we head to work on Monday morning and those snow showers
02:33 will persist again primarily for northern Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland. A few
02:38 perhaps filtering their way through for western Wales, south-west England and some just skirting
02:43 the far east of Humberside and down into Norfolk as well. Head further inland though and areas
02:49 that are sheltered from that northerly breeze will see widespread sunshine over the course
02:54 of Monday. But don't let the sunshine fool you, it will still be feeling very cold with
02:59 that northerly flow, temperatures only around one or two degrees Celsius at best for many
03:05 of us. If I turn on the feels like temperatures though it's going to be feeling sub freezing
03:10 for the vast majority, particularly along that eastern seaboard where we hold on to
03:14 some very blustery winds. If you are exposed to that wind it's going to be feeling very
03:19 bitter and very raw when you do step outside. With that cold air in place as we start off
03:27 the week, what are the chances of some further snowfall? Well our eyes for Tuesday are on
03:32 this little feature that has the potential to skirt its way across Northern Ireland,
03:36 southern Scotland and parts of Northern England as well. That could bring a mixture of rain,
03:40 sleet and snow over the course of the day so something that should certainly keep up
03:44 to date with the forecast on. You may have also heard about this frontal system wanting
03:48 to try and push its way in from the south on Wednesday. Increasingly though models are
03:53 shifting this further southwards so at the moment the most likely scenario is for this
03:58 front to remain in the channel with any snow primarily pushing into parts of France. There's
04:05 about a 20-30% chance that we do still see a few flurries just spreading their way across
04:10 the very far south of England. So again do stay up to date with the forecast, we'll keep
04:15 you up to date with the most likely scenario as that evolves over time and any warnings
04:19 that may need to be issued. You can find of course all our details across social media
04:24 and we're back here on YouTube again very soon so make sure you're subscribing. Bye
04:28 bye.
