00:00Hello there, good evening. Welcome to your latest forecast from the Met Office.
00:05And it's been a settled day for much of the UK today, bar one or two showers.
00:10High pressure, largely in charge, but this slowly slips away over the coming days,
00:14allowing low pressures to edge nearer from the north and west,
00:18introducing increasing risk of rain, which will turn heavy across northern and western parts of Scotland in particular.
00:25There are tightly packed isobars there, indicating some stronger winds than we've seen of late as well.
00:31With a calm end to Saturday, particularly across England and Wales,
00:34a weak weather front clearing to the southeast and with light winds,
00:38a perfect recipe for some mist and fog patches forming overnight,
00:42particularly across eastern parts of England.
00:44A different picture for Northern Ireland and Scotland, cloud increasing here,
00:48with outbreaks of rain moving in across northwest Scotland, a breeze picking up too.
00:53Under the clearest skies, it turns quite chilly, temperatures dropping into single figures,
00:58particularly in the countryside.
00:59So if you are stepping out to view the Orionids, you could see plenty of clear skies around,
01:06just need an extra layer or two as the Orionids then continue through much of the month.
01:11Some good viewing possible.
01:13Cloudier skies though for Norman Ireland and Scotland,
01:17and temperatures here holding up in double figures, so not quite as cold.
01:20But it does mean a great start to Sunday morning.
01:23Outbreaks of heavy rain across the Highlands and becoming a bit more extensive across much of Scotland
01:28as we move through the day.
01:30Some of this rain moving into Northern Ireland, perhaps Northern England as well.
01:35Could be a bit more showery here compared to Scotland.
01:38Largely dry though for England and Wales.
01:41Sunshine perhaps turning hazy at times through this central belt,
01:44but for southern parts of England holding on to those blue skies once the early fog clears
01:51and a beautiful afternoon to come.
01:53Temperatures well above the seasonal average, reaching around 23, possibly 24 Celsius in the best of the sunshine.
02:00But widely across England and Wales, the high teens, low 20s, and despite the cloud, brisk winds and rain.
02:06Temperatures still 17, 18 Celsius for parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
02:11And just feeling cooler than this due to that breeze and outbreaks of rain.
02:16That rain will continue through the evening time, continuing to be heavy across Northern and Western parts of Scotland.
02:22Showery across Northern Ireland, Northern England.
02:25Some of this rain reaching parts of Wales as we head into the early hours.
02:29Generally dry across much of central, southern parts of England.
02:32And under those clear skies, some mist and fog patches forming once more.
02:36So here, turning quite chilly.
02:38Temperatures in single figures, but generally where we hold on to the cloud.
02:42Again, temperatures holding up a mild night to come.
02:45So a bit of a cloudier start Monday morning.
02:48Particularly further north and west, you are outbreaks of rain.
02:51Rain persistent across western Scotland over the next 48 hours or so.
02:56Rainfall totals in one or two spots could reach 80 to 100 millimetres.
02:59So we could see some flooding impacts for one or two.
03:02Following on behind this, some sunshine and showers for Northern Scotland.
03:06Showery outbreaks of rain for parts of Northern England into Wales.
03:10But some brighter spells in between.
03:12That rain arriving across Northern Ireland later.
03:15But some southern counties holding on to some brighter skies.
03:18And another dry, sunny day.
03:20Particularly across southern and south-eastern parts of England.
03:23And winds light here.
03:24Feeling warm.
03:25Temperatures around 24 Celsius.
03:27The mid to high teens elsewhere.
03:2920, 21 Celsius there across the Midlands.
03:32Where we do see any brighter breaks away from those showery outbreaks of rain.
03:37Probably the last of the warmth as we move through the week ahead.
03:41Temperatures starting to trend downwards.
03:43Particularly by the middle of the week.
03:45So starting just to feel a little more autumnal.
03:48And more information on this can be found on our website and our social media channels.
03:53See you again soon.
