00:00Hello there, good morning and welcome to your latest forecast from the Met Office.
00:05After a blustery day across the UK yesterday, today is a little calmer.
00:09We have a brief ridge of high pressure moving across the country today,
00:13giving some dry weather ahead of the next weather system,
00:15bringing in further cloud and rain later on today and through into Monday.
00:20This morning, a bit of a chilly start.
00:22Temperatures in single figures, a touch of grass frost across the north,
00:25but plenty of sunny spells, a scattering of showers and winds much lighter than yesterday.
00:31Through the day, we'll see increasing cloud across from the southwest.
00:34Parts of Devon, Cornwall into Pembrokeshire, we'll see some patchy rain developing in here,
00:40but elsewhere it generally will be a dry day to come.
00:43Some bright or sunny spells, the cloud will increase at times and the winds will be generally lighter.
00:48So temperatures on the face of it, similar to Saturday, 13 to 17 degrees,
00:53but with lighter winds, a bit more sunshine in places,
00:56it may just feel a little less chilly compared to what we saw yesterday.
01:01Into the evening time, this band of rain just pushes north and eastward,
01:04so rain across Northern Ireland, western fringes of England and Wales later on into Scotland as well.
01:09And then overnight, much of the country becomes cloudy, some showery outbreaks of rain,
01:14the winds coming up from the south, they do pick up a little,
01:17so it becomes a bit blustery around the coasts,
01:20and it does start to import some milder air.
01:22So initially, temperatures falling into single figures in the east under clearing skies,
01:27but then as the milder air works in, temperatures rising 13 or 14 Celsius to start the day in the
01:33west on Monday.
01:34But a grey start, showery outbreaks of rain, fairly breezy,
01:38some hill fog, coastal murk as well,
01:40and then very little changes through the day on Monday.
01:43We stay in this cloudy air mass, further showery outbreaks of rain pushing north and eastwards,
01:47which may turn heavy at times.
01:49We could see a few brighter breaks trying to develop at times between the bands of showery rain.
01:55And where we do get those, it will help lift the temperatures higher than the weekend.
01:59We could see highs getting to the 19, 20, 21 Celsius mark,
02:03but a little cooler around the coast where it does remain rather breezy and murky.
02:08And it remains fairly unsettled as we go through the week ahead,
02:13particularly across the north and the west, where we'll be nearer areas of low pressure.
02:17Tuesday likely to be another day of sunshine and showers.
02:20Wednesday should be drier and a little brighter before further rain arrives again on Thursday.
02:26And it often remains quite blustery.
02:28Gales possible across the northern half of the UK.
02:31But winds always coming in from a southerly direction,
02:34so likely to remain on the mild side, temperatures by day above average and also night as well.
